The actual reason for for Australia's decision to go for the nuclear submarine with USA is China. China's military and diplomatic capabilities has been growing faster than USA, UK and Australia has projected, a nuclear submarine has more endurance that AIP submarines.

yes US is the world power, most of the countries that produce aircraft cannot afford to lose their relationships with US, therefore they will not sale anything to you until us say yes.
We have countries like Russia and China that also produce aircraft but their jets are not effective as the US own. Mind you, the F16 you are talking about is an American aircraft.
