Family › Re: Is There Any Positivity In This Recession? by Marxxx: 12:55pm On Sep 30, 2016 |
IgboGoat: Good days peeps,
I decided to create this thread after a lenghty discussion with my colleagues in the office.
Different opinions were sample and almost everybody stated how the recession has affected not only their pockets but also their lifestyles.
Not withstanding the fact that things are bad generally and people's disposable income have lost value and is still losing value. Considering the fact that Naira is almost 470 to USD.
However, for the purpose of this discourse, I want to focus on only the positive impacts of the economic recession, with a view that when we eventually get out of recession we can continue to practice the good things we have learnt and save more.
The ladies seems to be the ones on the positive side of the effects of recession Nigeria is currently going through.
Amongst the points raised, they stated that they hardly eat out more. They prepare their food and bring lunch from home. Another lady stated that when her husband closes from work, he returns home directly and does not have to to hang out with friends unlike in the pre-recession days.
A guy, not minding the shame said that he visited a brothel to ease the tension. And the commercial Bleep worker gave him a price which before now he will pay without blinking. He said that after calculating the effect of losing that amount, he simply zipped up and went home. (though he never stated what happened afterwards).
On my own, I have learnt to explore different ways to generate income. I also trimmed my expenses. I learnt now to stick to my budgets and always draw a priority list for my needs and wants and treat them based on their urgency.
I think it is important I state this. I have to enroll my family in an HMO. This have saved me a lot for payment of health bills and other things...
Guys lets hear from you, what are the positives you have learnt during this recession? Social science is funny science. Lack or slow rate of economic activities brought us into recession. So if everyone (government inclusive) decides to go on a lean budget and not spend much (cutting cost) how are going to get out of recession? We need to spend to get out of recession. Give the government 30bn dollars to spend and we are out.....is it not funny? |

justsmile: hello Marxx,
wanted to read your thread and just walk away... but then, someone (Marxx) needs to find the way cos it is abvious you are being exploited in the name of miracle.
Jashar has said all (nice one Jashar!). But will like to drop some points.
1. Jesus is real
2. Jesus is THE way.
3. Jesus loves YOU
4. Jesus died for YOU that you might be saved.
5. Jesus is the Healer.
6. Jesus is the miracle worker.
Sorry I don't have bible passages to accompany my points. Now if you notice, my emphasis are on Jesus. Please stop running from one man of God to another and sowing seed. kindly run to Jesus... How?
1. Get to your room. On on your knees and call on Jesus. Simply confess in faith.."Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Forgive of my sins. Be my Lord and Saviour. I believe you died for me that I might be saved. Save me Lord. I want to know you for my self... in Jesus name....amen" ( you can use your own words)
2. Believe in your heart that you are saved and that Jesus is now your Lord. ( Romans 10:9-11)
3. Go for the Word. ( this is the core). Men...sit with the Word of God. Read it, confess it, meditate on it like your life depends on it. Start with the Gospels, the book of Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. Do you wanna know the person of Jesus for your self Marxx?....then this 4 books of the bible is your best bet!
4. Have FAITH sir. ( Hebrews 11:6, Romans 10:17, Galatians 3:26, Eph 2:8, Hebrews 4:2, 1John 5:4)
5. YOU WILL NOT DIE Marxx.
Let me end with my personal quote...."there is no disadvantage in Christ".
God bless you. I hope to come across your testimony. thank you |

pocohantas: Yes,we hear you. No one said it can't done, so many women have done and are doing it...including YOUR MUM. The way the country was years ago, isn't the way it is now. Was your mum working in bank, to close by 8pm, then beat Lagos traffic and get home by 10pm or was she a teacher or civil servant? Most employers aren't that tolerant to mothers as it were back then.
You also made mention of spacing, meaning the elder ones were old enough to look out for the younger. Would a woman who married in her 30s have time to do all that spacing?
So, if it doesn't hurt anyone, especially the kids...nothing wrong with a help. Some women keep acting like motherhood is some competition. good point |

Family › Simple Ways Families Can Manage Cost During Recession by Marxxx(op): 11:18am On Sep 30, 2016*. Modified: 12:38pm On Sep 30, 2016 |
Truth be told recession is just a word. A simple Slowdown in activities over the course of a normal business cycle can breed recession. (what analysts may call a negative growth over two successive quarters). We are presently experiencing economic recession that is a headache but we should start praying against depression (although I don't see that coming). With increased borrowing and spending we may stimulate activities and get out of recession. My major concern is family. How can the family enjoy financial freedom during recession?
1. Get a list of all the items you regularly spend on in the house. Your car, your refrigerator, Air condition, Pay TV, Gas cooker, internet etc now check the percentage of your monthly income that is allocated to service these items. (although some items do not require monthly servicing but you can do the breakdown and fit it in on a monthly basis). After a thorough check you should not allocate more than 25% of your monthly income to service these items.
2. Learn how to save, spend and invest. Most people don't know the difference between saving, spending and investing. In the practical sense even some learned people don't. Ideally you should not save to spend. A family should not save to spend rather save to invest. I have come across people who believes saving their money is the same thing as investing. A family should save with the intent of investing (making more money) rather than spending. That is why you should have several accounts for different intent. Account a will service expenditures and account B will strictly be for investments.
3. Do not involve in non profit activities yet. What will it profit you to travel down to your village spend 50m erecting a magnificent structure then lock it up and travel down to lagos or where you came from? Avoid such thoughts during this period. It is good to have a house in your village but if the house is not brining in anything and no one is living in it then it is a waste of resources. So I will advise you to tell your architect to design your house in such away that some parts can be let out and money can be made by collecting rent/lease (if you insist on building the house)
4. Financial education should be taught to the children as well as basic management principles (instead of teaching a child sex education). This could save the family some pennies. If a child constantly loses his/her toys you may have to spend money replacing it. My sister told me about a child who smashed the neighbours windscreen (recent benz car) with his basket ball. And the neighbour insisted full payment for the damage. Teaching your child to be orderly can save you unnecessary expenses.
5. Cost of feeding and eating right can be properly looked into. The family can save a lot if they eat right and stop being gluttons. A long time ago I told my niece not to consume all the milk in a can once it is opened. She likes unsweetened evaporated milk a lot and can actually consume 2 cans per day (morning and night) I spent almost 7000 for her milk consumption monthly. When I instructed her to use 1 can a day I saved 50%. According to a nutritionist we often eat more than our body can actually absorb (it is not a must you consume two sizeable piece of chicken). So we can check our family eating habit and ensure we eat healthily at the same time cut excessive eating pattern.
6. Entertaining guest can also eat into your savings. Ensure you have totally planned it out before inviting a guest over because it is African for you to entertain your guest. I could remember running into an old colleague and she said "wow marxwel I just want to know your place"....it was cool though but financially it wasn't. So think before you tell some one to come over. When someone tells you "I just want to know your place" do not forget it may involve cost. So the family should turn down any frivolous or unwarranted visit from guest during this period.
7. Don't create a competition. Please don't get desperate because your neighbour just changed their car then you remember it's time to change yours (I hate neighbours) or your colleague at the office just changed theirs and you are tempted to follow. Learn to flow with your budget and be rigid about it.
8. You may hold on the next issue. If you already have three kids and thinking about the fourth you should probably calm down a bit. Although your company may pay child support, education allowance and your health insurance may cover the fourth child. Please note that some unseen financial implications comes with a child even when you think you have it all figured out. Also I think it's best you engage your wife if she not engaged.
9. A close knit family can save cost during this period. This is because items (clothes, shoes, wrist watches bags etc) used can be passed from a member to another toms shoe can be worn by Jerry if it is still in good shape. This will save you from buying an additional shoe on the short run. Also you may patronise not too expensive designers during this period eg Michael Kors, Zara etc
10. This may not be a good period to cheat on your spouse. Having a side chick (according to NL) is an additional cost. Cheating is expensive. Let me say quit flirting. Yeah you might just want to flirt with a lady and she requests for something expensive and you may ending up paying with your debit card. the list is endless.
Having a wonderful family is the best thing that can happen to anyone. Family is amazing. Watching my niece scream, ask irrelevant questions, jump around, get fascinated by trivial things is the most wonderful thing I have ever experienced. Children are blessings. You should not trade your family for anything in the world. Sadly people get divorced because they don't know the joy in having a family. I wish every NL family a financial breakthrough during this recession.
11 Pray to God for direction (jashar may kill me if I don't add this to the list).......................this article is not error free........................... |

Career › Maybe You Should Go For ND Instead Of Msc by Marxxx(op): 1:35am On Sep 09, 2016 |
My reasons are:
1. Embarking on a Masters degree might become a white elephant project when you don't have the required industry experience.
2. With the current recession every sector is seeking all means to cut cost
3. Most juicy positions that requires an Msc or Bsc are keenly contested and the big guns usually have their slots (who are also sound) to fill the available positions
4. An ND may repackage you. For instance you may even re-sit for the ssce and reduce your age...and start over more intelligently
5. It may slow your progress but doesn't stop it. Let me elaborate; let say you have Bsc Mechng and you are 25, you can go for an OND in electng it does not make your Bsc invalid you can still present it when there are int/ext recruitments
6. It is the fastest and easiest way to fight your way into the oil and gas. For those who love oil and gas you get more of nd recruitment to Bsc
7. From manufacturing to finance and even the civil service ond holders occupy the largest percentage.
NB if you intend to travel abroad or you have a craving for lecturing etc you may find this article non inspiring |

Ayofaks: I see ...this might be one of his new format. oh oh...now I understand! I am coogar...perhaps you should stop being desperate and stop craving for attention. How? Don't send PMs, don't accept PMs, don't checkout other people monicker just treat their quote and stay on the subject then move on. Don't indicate your gender ain't necessary; I mean you can just use a random monicker and that settles it. But you want attention and you are probably checking and "coogar" is giving you the supposed attention and you are crying foul...Look I seldom quote ppl outside the topic I opened and even when I did, I don't drift I stay on the subject. I DONT accept PMs neither do I ask. Sadly I may have spent so much time quoting a teenager or whatever but ayofaks do not post in any of my topics and do not quote me again. |

angiemartinez: Hello marxxxxxx, how is it moving? I stand with jashar on this. I know death is inevitable, but I am convinced you won't die soon. I believe in miracles and I believe God does miracle through people.
Remember peters shadow healed the sick, however I don't believe in MOG that says sow seed or buy water or annointing oil from church.
How fast your miracle/healing takes place depends on your faith in God. Some people want miracle at all cost but neglect the God of miracle.
Get this book by Cathryn khulman "I believe in miracle" pray as you read each chapter, and the God of miracle will visit you.
God bless u thanks...the book is cool... |

jashar: You're welcome. I do hope I helped sha. No @ OND. I have a B.sc instead.
Hmmm..... the most important thing for you to do is to draw close to God. Are you sure you've received the life of Christ? Jesus is the way, truth and Life. No one ca access the Father without Him. John 14:6.
You need no man to access Jesus in these times. Go to Him yourself, it's really simple.
My dear, believe in the spiritual cuz man is a spirit that has a soul and lives in the body. 1 Thess 5:23. I'm not saying your folks are right, neither am I saying they're wrong. I'm saying the spiritual is real.
The beautiful thing is this, if any man is in Christ, He is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold all things have been made new 2Cor5:17. Just walk in the consciousness of that. Forget about all those spiritual attack... if you're in Christ, they can try... but it won't harm you.
But, YOU HAVE TO BE IN CHRIST.
I love Jesus. He's an honest brother and saviour, He never said coming to Him will stop trials. He only assured us of His Presence and peace in the midst of the storms of Life. John 16:33.
And I know that Joel2:32, Acts 2:21, Rom 10:13.
Good morning. wow thanks |
Family › Re: 11 Funny Things About Me... by Marxxx(op): 11:51pm On Sep 05, 2016 |
jashar: Marxxx. Hi.
Who am I that you think I'm a better Christian than you? It's just God's mercy that is at work.
This is a sensitive issue so I'll thread carefully.
1st. Yes, I believe in miracles. As a follower of Jesus the Christ, I really believe in miracles cuz He worked miracles.
2. I believe God heals. He can use a 'man of God' to heal. E.g, Peter, Paul, Elisha to name a few.
But also know that it's faith in Christ that heals. All the people that Jesus healed believed in Him and the words He spoke. Even when the disciples healed, they healed in the name of Jesus Christ. It's faith in the name of Jesus that heals. Keep confessing His Word, Pro 17:22, Is 53:4-5, 1Pet 2:24, Mark 11:23 to name a few.
The most important thing is to let your life please God.
3. Concerning the issue of 'sowing seed', the only seed I know the Bible talks about is the Word of God. Luke 8:11.
4. The Bible talks about anointing oil, though mostly in the Old Testament. E.g Aaron, Samuel, David.... but even then, the prophets of Old looked for something better; the Spirit of God. Joel 2:22-24. It's note worthy that no one is recorded to have 'paid' to get anointing oil in the Bible. So, paying for 'anointing oil' is balderdash.
4. Concerning giving. Hmm... giving is good but it has been blown out of proportion. my advice to you is 2Cor9:7. Don't let anyone bobo or cajole you to give when you're not led. All this tying 'seed' to something, me I don't believe in it. I'm yet to read that portion of the Bible. But remember, Acts 20:35, 2Cor 9:6-7
Lastly, I really do not believe in all these going from pillar to post looking for miracle upandan.
Why not stay in the place God has called you, inquire of Him what to do and if He gives you an instruction to go somewhere go?
The thing is how good is your relationship with God? Can you discern His voice in the multitude of voices?
Understand that your sis is doing what she's doing out of love. . Sometimes, that kind of love can drive one to desperation. And nobody wants to loose the one they love. (you can ask Peter, he chopped of the ear of a guard that wanted to arrest Jesus. He even swore that Jesus won't die). Fear. Let go of fear.
Remember Phil 1:21.
As a Christian don't fear death. It's one of the things Christ's resurrection sets us free from. 1 Cor 15:55.
Just tell God to let his will be done.
Hope I've helped. Sorry it's long oo.
Love ya loads. Thanks do you have OND?...The truth is I do not fear death at all. If I continue with my medication I can still get 5years and am happy. I am not longing for more although I wish I could stay much longer but I am not depressed. I can't say if I have a close relationship with God. I was raised a Catholic and am cool about it. I am not looking for a miracle, I am happy the way I am and what I am and what I have achieved so far. I have a niece whom I can call my daughter. When I try to relate all these to my folks they get more convinced that I am being manipulated spiritually. I am not wishing for anything supernatural... |

But God dey.
Yeah. So much to gist about hello jashar...how are you....pls can you help me clarify...I want to ask you something...Ok let me just go on...apparently you are a better Christian than I...first do you believe in miracles? Can you describe how miracles occur? My sister have been taken me from one church to another seeking miracles. I have spent time away from home going from one church to the other. I am also spending money sowing seeds, buying stickers, holy oil, prayer books at outrageous prices...what got me red was the liberation church we went for prayers and instantly the prophet asked that I sow seed I wrote him a cheque but he said I should give what will cost me something...funny thing my sister believes everything and when I complain she says I don't have faith....is there a relationship between sowing seed and miracles? I am no longer comfortable with the prayers too but I can't complain again everyone now believes it is "spiritual" so they believe my complaints is also part of the spiritual manipulation for me not to get healed...I am not finding it funny at all....Ok my understanding about "miracles" is praying and believing is not? Or is there more to it? The more I complain, the more my folks believe that is spiritual...I can't even complain again...tell me all you know about getting a miracle...? |

Nobody does that intentionally. I attended a conference some years ago unfortunately I left my IV in my car and I had to work a distance to the venue. I wasn't allowed VIP section and I couldn't walk back to get it cos I was tired. I just sat in the main hall chatting with some random guy who had no IV. Funny thing was there were some people without IV who looked padded and the ushers required no IV from them. I wore good stuffs too perhaps my stomach wasn't large enough...lol...after some minutes I told the guy to accompany me to my car, I gave him the IV and he thanked me gracefully. I was on my way home when some of the organisers called I simply told them I was on my way back. They begged and begged but I didn't yield to their pleas. Truth is I had budgeted a large sum to spend that evening...not my fault....not theirs either... |

sisisioge: LOL @ op. Must be something being you.I am a pile of weird facts too. Here we go....
• I can't live without food- hmmmm, I am the only one I know who loves food yet not crazy about it. Though I love to eat when hungry, I usually don't salivate at the sight of a beautiful array of foods. I get hungry as early as 4:30 am depending on when I wake. I just wanna eat. It could be tea, yoghurt, fanta or whatever...I just wanna eat. Unfortunately, I've not been able to add the weight I quest for. I'm skinny, my sis felt life is unfair as she dare not romance food like I do. • I wake before my alarm- No matter how late or early I sleep, I always wake my alarm.
• I’m a happy-go-lucky girl- Hmmmm, life has handed me some spades, hearts and all the ones in between yet I have lost the twinkles in my eyes. Na because I know say I no go kill myself. In fact, finding happiness for is as cheap as air. I love my family, I love my movies, I love comics, I love a good laugh! Wetin man go do?
• I love shopping!- Yippppppy! For a broke girl, I have broken the bank a gazillion times buying those things I need and don’t need. In fact, I sometimes go a long distance window-shopping. LOL, I’m still responsible enough to pay required bills o.
• I’m hopelessly romantic- Whew, this one isn’t epping me one bit. I would rather stay single than be with a guy that doesn’t put butterflies in my belly. My bestie blames my singleness on fairy tales, she thinks I’m not sensible with my quest. I have seen pretty woman and nottinghill a gazillion times and still counting…love is so beautiful.
• I talk to myself… not in a weird way o but I talk to myself when no one is looking. Sometimes sef, it’s a full blown gist. • I love the mirror- well, I’m that vain. Before any other furniture piece comes into my space, the mirror must show. I’m not sorry, that’s just me.
• I love being in my birthday suit at home- I would rather wear my skin than any thing. I especially distaste wearing bras! Sometimes, I look forward to getting home just to take them off. However, they are the one piece of clothing I can’t do without. Not for the gravitational support but for the abundance mirage. I thank God for the inventor of em pads, I probably would have invented them myself if nobody did.
• If I were a guy, I would have been a handy man. I love to fix things.
By the way, OP is a piece of work whom I suspect will be terrible to live with...but he's still a work of art, God made us all different in His artistic way. LOL...This is so cool... you should probably adjust the alarm... |
