Fayose saying it like it is. |
More groups have joined their voices to condemn the hate speech by some youth groups in Northern Nigeria which gave a deadline for Igbos in the north to relocate from the area on or before October 1. Among the groups that lend their voices to condemn the hate speech on Sunday in Benin, Edo State, were the Niger Delta Equity Forum (NDEF) and the National Youth Council of Nigeria. The Coordinator of the NDEF, Ejoor Mukoro, in a statement he made available to journalists, also tasked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to be mindful the kind of characters it uses in its anti-corruption activities. “The Niger Delta Equity Forum condemns in strong terms, the ultimatum given by some faceless Northern group, that the people of south eastern extraction should leave the Northern part of Nigeria. Niger Delta believes that this is unnecessary, uncalled for, divisive and a veritable fertile ground for the dismemberment of the Country, with associated death of some of the best of us. “The Forum believes the problem of Nigeria is not Biafra, and it is not the Nigeria entity, the North, South, East or West. Our problem is the inequitable distribution of wealth and resources. Our national problem is a high corruption index which is evidently manifested in a highly profligate National Assembly, who will hang on to office and share our collective patrimony, even with corruption charges hanging on their neck. “The Forum commends the effort of El Rufai, the governor of Kaduna who has asked that the perpetrators, should be arrested. The Forum also commend the Northern Governors Forum and other highly placed well meaning Nigerians, who have condemned this hate and divisive speech. “We implore the police and other law enforcement agencies not to relent in their duty of quenching all such inciting statements. The police should not wait for a state governor to mandate them before carrying out their duty. Corruption should be fought on all fronts. “The EFCC should be above board and come to equity with clean hands. They should discontinue the use of people with corrupt charges on their neck, as facilitators or key note speakers in their various anti-corruption campaign seminar,” Mukoro said. On his part, the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State Chapter and Vice President, South-South Zone, Mr. Innocent Ajayi, called on Nigerian youths to embrace peace and avoid making statements that could heat up the polity. He made the appeal in Benin City when reacting to the recent ultimatum issued out to citizens of Igbo origin to vacate the northern part of the country on or before October 1, by youth groups in the area. Ajayi said the peaceful coexistence of Nigerians in all parts of the states is not negotiable adding that the constitution has already made provision for that. “Let me first of all say it clear that the constitution allows its citizens to live in any part of this country and to be law abiding to the law that makes to us be Nigerians. Those giving a quitting order must understand that we are all one Nigeria and that no matter their grievance and what pushed them to where we are today, the best way is for us to dialogue. And I believed that through dialogue, the solution to any problems will come out,” he said. He said the present administration should revisit the resolutions reached at the confab and implement them to resolve some of the causes of this call for secession. “No matter how some people looked at the confab. Some said it was political and I said no. Every group was fully represented. My advise is, the president and our national assembly should go back to those documents, look at it properly and I think with the confab, the solution of this country is already on our table. All what we need, is implementation. “I know at the confab, the issue of restructuring Nigeria was really deliberated on. Let us fall back to true federalism and with it, Nigeria will move to a greater height,” he said. He applauded the notable northern leaders who have come out openly to criticize the quitting order while suing for adequate protection of the lives and property of the non indigenes living in their states. He called on the youths to avoid inciting statements that could further plunge the country into more crises. “To the youth, we are 69.9 percent. If anything gets to happen, we are the persons who are going to pass through the pains. “I appeal to us to understand that we must protect Nigeria. We must understand that we are one Nigeria and what has made us Nigerians as an entity, we must do our best to preserve it,” he said. https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2017/06/11/knocks-northern-youths-ultimatum-igbos-leave-domain/ |

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has advised the Federal Government that the ultimatum given to Igbos living in the North could lead to anarchy, if not checked. According to him, the trend of statements credited to some elements in the North has shown clearly that Nigeria is no longer one. He said this while reacting to a quit notice served on the Igbos in the north by the Coalition of Northern Groups, and which was recently backed by some northern elders, including a former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Ango Abdullahi. Fayose said the unity of the nation was threatened like never before in the history of the country. “The gap has widened beyond measure because of the body language of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration. We are more divided than ever. The elements are emboldened because they believe their person is in office and nothing would happen. “This is not surprising to some of us as the herdsmen set the tone and became notorious under the watch of Buhari. “If this continued, it would further heat up the already tensed situation and promote distrust among ethnic groups in the country.” Fayose urged the federal government to accept responsibility for trend and called for a decisive action to stop it. “Buharis government has not taken responsibility; no responsible government would encourage this. It is an empty threat that if not checked would snowball. This is why people are calling for restructure. “The government should take responsibility and take decisive actions on those promoting war situation in our country. “It is disheartening that a personality like (Ango) Abdullahi would support that; that’s danger lurking in the country. “He should be invited for questioning by security agencies. Leaders should rise up and condemn this instead of giving tacit support to the ultimatum “So many lives have been lost due to the lackadaisical attitude of the Federal Government. All these I saw when I warned that Buhari would leave our country worse than he met it in 2015.” www.dailypost.ng/2017/06/11/ultimatum-igbos-anarchy-waiting-fayose-advises-fg/ |
Very interesting times. NNO (New Nigeria Order) on the way. Power has already changed hands. We all shall be witnesses. We (the leaders and the masses) have held ourselves down for too long. Something's forcing us to stand up and walk. And stand, we must. March into our greatness, we will. No expense is too much for us to realize our potential as a nation. |
A born Anambrarian, film producer and veteran actor, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, has urged all Igbo in the north to come back, plan and establish in their homeland.www.vanguardngr.com/2017/06/fellow-igbo-please-come-back-home-little-bob-manuel/

Asking the leaders in the north to continue to defend the interest of the country by securing the lives of the people of other tribes, Bello said: “As we strive to move out of the economic recession in Nigeria, bloodbaths would only compound the situation. “We are the same before God and we should always play up the factors that unite us. We can only be strong when we are united.” He also begged Nigerians to continue to pray for the full recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari. “President Buhari has sacrificed a lot to ensure we remain a respected nation in the comity of nations. “Nigerians should pray for his full recovery as he is determined to tame corruption and drive the nation toward prosperity, responsibility and respectability." https://www.naij.com/1108990-governor-yahaya-bello-speaks-3-month-quit-notice-igbo-people.html |

Beautiful woman. Confused folks won't let this FFK ''ish'' rest. |

Our people should start thinking home, whether or not El Rufai plans to arrest those youths. I personally don't see anything unusual with what they said. We shouldn't become complacent. Its not Eldorado just yet. |
The centre has become rickety and things will soon fall apart only for them to come back together stronger and primed for greatness. By then Igbos will reclaim their God-given position in Nigeria. Some things must happen for some other things to happen. Nigeria's faulty foundation will soon be shattered and a powerful one put in place that will be able to carry Nigeria's soon to be revealed greatness. Critical-cum-interesting times ahead. |
I don't want to believe this man is as foolish as he sounds. He's just trying to be controversial. Deep down he knows the statement is senseless. |
Sheer class. Nice one, Op. |
Editor's note: For quite an age, the Igbo people in Nigeria have cried fowl regarding how they are allegedly being marginalized. Though endowed with great skill, strength and talent, still the Igbos seem unable to maximize their potentials. In this opinion, Reno Omokri takes a look at the challenges that prevent Ndi'Igbo From Fulfilling her potential. Background It is true that the Igbo are marginalized in Nigeria, however, I am of the opinion that a lot of the blame for this can be laid at Ndi'Igbo's doorstep. In my opinion, the major undoing of Ndi'Igbo is their misunderstanding of the term strength. 1. Lack of discretion As a general rule, to the Igbo, all strength is physical. They do not seem to realize that strength is your ability to assert your will on earth and that that ability may not always be physical. The proverb-discretion is the better part of valor-is not understood by the Igbo. They tend to be reactionary and consider pausing to study a situation before you respond (not react) as cowardice. One or two of them may get it, but as a race in general they do not. They do not consider diplomacy as a first step. To them it is weakness and makes you an efulefu! If they have an enemy, they are not able to suppress their emotions and work with those they do not like. 2. They arm their enemies before the battle They must make their hostility obvious to the person they do not like and being aware of the dislike, the person is armed against them. In an organization, others may be sublime and discrete in their scheming, but the Igbo are more likely to be obvious and in your face about theirs and end up causing unity amongst their enemies in plotting their downfall. 3. Lack of humility As a general rule, they have very little humility and are very proud individually though there are few, very few exceptions. In my opinion, they are also individually more intelligent than their neighbors but they hardly use their intelligence to unite and have one leader, one goal and one destiny. Because of this, even though they are more intelligent, they are almost doomed to serve those that are wiser than them because wisdom is superior to intelligence. 4. Regard wealth over wisdom The Igbo also appear to value leaders because of the leader's personal attainments in life and so money gives you more leadership credentials than wisdom or age. They forget that a rich man may have more clothes than an elder but cannot have more rags than him. They overestimate the power of money and underestimate the power of wisdom. It is very easy to spot an Igbo man who has money because it easily intoxicates him. They are more likely to see relationships from a commercial point of view whether it is marriage, friendship or politics. If the Igbo can learn humility and practice diplomacy and discipline themselves to have one leader that they listen to in good and bad times not because he is always right but because he is their leader, their marginalization will end and their dominance will begin. But of course, I may also be wrong. https://www.naij.com/1107347-opinion-4-crucial-reasons-igbos-fulfilled-destiny.html |
Op would make a great detective. Pertinent questions too. I will just say: your suspicions are not far from the truth. |
evy1:I wonder what motivated this move. cheap fame? Money? Nawa o. |
This guy is stretching the limits of his foolishness. Someone should call him to order. |
The good he did decades ago just came back to ''haunt'' him. Bless his soul. |
Good one. |
Chikelue2000:And also over-flowing with common sense. |
Some folks are already saying they don't like the news. |
Oh, have they stopped denying us? I wonder what made them change. It's all good. Igbos and their brothers everywhere must unite for what lies ahead. |
Ok. |
Hmm.. |
What's she so excited about? ![]() |
We should therefore take our destiny in our own hands. This Is why the new economic plan initiated by our people is the right way to go. Onye ajuru aju adighi aju onwe ya. |
If you do not believe that the Igbo are marginalized in Nigeria then visit Aba and Nnewi. There, Nigerians of Igbo origin manufacture (not assemble) all manner of products that begin from Letter A and end with letter Z. In Aba alone, they produce 1 million pairs of shoes EVERYDAY (you read me right EVERYDAY). In Nnewi, they have more Manufacturing companies than they have in Nigeria's largest geo political zone, the Northwest. Yet, both Anambra or Abia do not have an airport even though their citizens are the heaviest commercial travelers in Nigeria BAR NONE! Yet, some states with little to no commercial activity have not just an airport, but a fully functional international airport. Try explaining this to yourself without using the word marginalization!https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10212561866298933&id=1152008079
