The Ralph Uwazuruike- led Biafra Independence Movement, BIM, has described anyone calling for the boycott of the November 18, Anambra State governorship poll, as anti-Igbo. This came as Ohanaeze Ndigbo President -General, Chief Nnia Nwodo urged the Igbo to take the ongoing voters registration exercise very serious, deploring the current attitude of some Igbo to the exercise. He also called on INEC and the authorities to ensure that nothing hampers or poses an impediment to the exercise as is being reported in some places. No to boycott of Anambra polls—BIM BIM stated that any attempt to disrupt the Anambra governorship election would retard development in the state, stressing that BIM has embarked on sensitisation campaign across the 21 council areas of Anambra State to urge the electorate not to be deceived by the antics of those who don’t mean well for Biafra. Addressing a press conference in Aba, BIM Leader, Abia South zone, Okporie Nkama, said his members, who are registered voters in Anambra State, have been directed to come out en masse and vote a candidate of their choice, to ensure continuation of democratic governance in the state. He disclosed that BIM had concluded plans to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the existence of MASSOB on September 13, in Anambra State and would engage in more sensitive campaigns to the electorate. “BIM is not in support of any individual or group calling for the boycott of Anambra governorship poll on November 18. When you boycott the election, you are selling your right and giving a chance to those who don’t want of Biafra to take over. “Anambra election cannot affect the actualization of Biafra. Anyone calling for boycott is anti- Igbo. We have embarked on sensitisation visits to the 21 local government areas of Anambra State to urge people not to allow themselves to be deceived. “There will be anarchy in Anambra if the election does not hold. As an organisation that practises non violence, BIM warns Ndi Anambra to ensure that they turn out en masse to support their choice candidates during the election.” Igbo should take voters registration serious — Ohanaeze According to a statement signed by Chuks Ibegbu, a high powered committee to monitor the voter registration exercise has been set up. Further more, Ohanaeze leadership reiterated that Nigeria can never move forward unless it is restructured and built on equity, justice and fairness. Ohanaeze also alerted that the Igbo festival of arts and culture has been held in Stauton, Virginia, USA and hundreds of Igbo from all over the world witnessed the event, which showcased speeches, traditional dances, exhibitions and other side attractions. Chief Nnia Nwodo was the guest speaker at the event. Before the end of the event, he had a town hall meeting with the attendees and organisers of the event,” the statement read. It will be remembered that Ndigbo constitute one of the founding fathers of the USA as the English, Irish, Germans among others. The President of the Igbo World Assembly , a first class Igbo Patriot Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze provided a fatherly piloting of the event which the Council of Igbos in the USA CISA brought into fruition. www.vanguardngr.com/2017/08/anyone-calling-boycott-anambra-poll-anti-igbo-bim/ |
Two Igbo groups, the Igbo Peoples Congress, IPC, and the Igbo Aborigines have lambasted former Abia state Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu over what they called his self induced romance and talk with the Arewa youths coalition which recently asked the Igbo to quit the North by October 1. This came as former national chairman of Ohanaeze youth wing, Mazi Ikechukwu Bismarck Oji blasted the Arewa youths, saying the quit notice to the Igbo was a plot to cause mayhem in Nigeria in order to prevent Osinbajo from becoming a substantive president due to Buhari’s ill-health. The groups alleged that its an insult for the northern youths who should be showing remorse for their provocative acts to now be going from one past and present governor in the North and the East pretending to be on top of the matter. “It is obvious that their antics are predicated on fame and fortune which the ordinary people in the North and the few elders they claim to support do not know. It is an economic game they begun to make money as events are now showing. Orji Kalu should tell Nigerians how much the misled youths extorted from him and who sent him to negotiate for Ndigbo. “Yerima Shettima, the arrowhead of the infamy is a Lagos boy that has been struggling to survive the harsh economy in Nigeria and he saw this obnoxious act as the easiest way to make it in life, not considering the consequences. “But he failed to note that there are lots of cannon fodders in Arewa land that can easily be deceived and misdirected to cause social mayhem at their own risk.” …Want Northern govs to caution Shettima The groups, therefore, called on Nothern governors and leaders to call Yerima Shettima to order in the interest of the nation. They warned Yerima and his cohorts to go and hunt for Abubakar Shekau and the murderous Boko Haram elements, who they claimed have devastated the North and Nigeria over the years instead of castigating Nnamdi Kanu who has never hurt a fly and is doing what he should do lawfully and legitimately. They also challenged the Arewa youths to tackle the killer herdsmen that have made life unbearable in Nigeria and destroyed many communities in the Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria. Ex-OYC chairman blasts Arewa youths According to former OYC leader, “IPOB was at the forefront of the sit-at-home but the entire Igbo race willingly complied and set that day aside to mourn their dead. “All those that have been killed in the North in various fratricidal attacks, from 1945 to even Mrs Bridget Agbahime who was murdered in cold blood last year in Kano, the pogroms of 1966 and Biafran war itself were respected on that day. Ndigbo have great respect for the dead members of their community. “Rather than being jealous of IPOB for being at the forefront of the Igbo sit-at-home, I challenge Yerima and company to organize theirs, to prove their popularity. “As the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo said during his first interview on Channels TV that you cannot condemn the Biafran agitators when the root cause of their agitation has not been addressed. An Igbo adage says that you cannot beat a child and ask him not to cry. That is against the laws of natural justice. How can any sane human being ask the Biafran agitators to shut up without addressing their grievances? How can you guarantee their security in Nigeria when there is not a single Igbo in the 14 man National Security Council. “Since 1960 till date, Ndigbo have never had it as bad as this, not even under Abacha. Yet, this is supposed to be a democracy! If the Arewa youths gave Ndigbo quit notice because they are agitating for Biafra, they should also give the Yoruba, especially now that a Yoruba group has declared Oduduwa Republic. Or is Yerima afraid of confronting the Yoruba, knowing that they know him too well since he is a Lagosian by birth, has lived there all his life and still has family members there?” The former OYC leader further alleged that the real target of their so-called quit notice are the Yoruba, not even Ndigbo. “In their desperation to stop the Acting President-Prof Yemi Osinbajo from becoming the substantive President due to President Buhari’s continued ill health, their intention was to use the Igbo quit notice to cause enough mayhem so as to bring back the military,” he said. The youth leader also praised Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the Deputy Senate President and Senator Godswill Akpabio, chairman, Southern Senators Forum and Hon. Leo Ogor, the Minority Leader, House of Representatives for mobilizing Southern legislators, as well as some Middle Belt legislators to vote for devolution of powers during last week’s National Assembly Constitutional Amendment voting exercise. “The outcome was successful since it justifies the agitation of concerned Nigerians across the country for restructuring. In fact, the issue at the front burner of national discourse today can be summarized as R, R, B, which means Restructuring, Referendum, Break-Up.” This has brought to the fore, the position of some patriotic Nigerians that the issue of determining Nigeria’s future political structure is beyond the National Assembly. The people of Nigeria necessarily have to sit and resolve the knotty issue of the country’s political structure.” www.vanguardngr.com/2017/08/quit-notice-igbo-groups-blast-kalu-hobnobbing-arewa-youths/ |
Nigeria - the wobbly giant, looking and acting confused at the moment. But no sweat, she will yet stand strong. But sha, this oct 1 go tight wella. It may not be a bad idea to stockpile food and curtail movement on that day. Hope it doesn't get to that. |
Well, this is a non-issue. How does her father's opinion about Igbos help our ailing economy? She can marry whomever her dad chooses for her (assuming she can't make up her own mind). As to her question - there's nothing wrong with Igbo men. We're actually great, just like our women. ![]() |

Church leaders and Christians in the North under the aegis of tbe Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association (ACIPA) have said that though they are averse to any secessionist tendency from any part of the country, any attack on the Igbo living in any part of the North is tantamount to attack on entire Christians living in the North. They, however, called on the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to rise up to the occasion and stop Igbo youths from injuring the psyche and sensibilities of other Nigerians by their secessionist agitation. In a statement in Jos, signed the President, Rev. Luka Shehu, the group said , “Following the recent devisive, most provocating and dissident press statement by the Arewa Consultative Youth Forum And their Allies, The Odua Youth and the Niger Delta position, all threatening the peaceful co- existence of Nigeria, we are therefore compelled to make our position unequivocally clear as follows: “The attack on Igbos in the North is an attack on Christians in the north as well. We are aware of precedents in such antics. The quit notice to Igbos is a systematic attack to subdue Christianity and Christians in the North with a gradual plan to overrun Nigeria. “Suffice it to say that the Igbo leadership should take a bold step to refrain from provoking the psyche of Nigerians with the Biafra secession threat, we call on our Igbo brothers and sisters who are predominantly Christians to eschew the bitterness of never ever producing executive president either military or democratic since the first republic. While agreeing that their demand is legitimate, holding Nigeria to ransom or threatening Nigeria with another secessionist agenda is unacceptable as it is counter productive. “The Igbo should rather resort to employing civil democratic norm of negotiation, lobbying and politics of give and take to achieve their goals. The group said that singing another war song after the bitter and excruciating civic war, which lasted from 6th July 1967 to 15th January 1970, a period of two years, six months, two weeks and two days, is one thing the country could ill afford at this time. The statement added, “The costly war was regrettable and avoidable. Between 500,000 to two million Biafrans died mainly of starvation and military casualties on both sides were over 100,000 officers and men not to mention properties lost. The trauma as well as the economic and social implication of the War on Both Side was incalculably enormous. “Perhaps the proponents and pundits of a second Biafra Could Benefit from Ojukwu’s Counsel long after the Biafra War, “I Don’t think the Second one (War ) is necessary. We should have learned from the first one, otherwise the dead would have been to no Avail….” “Like the Signals today, the Nigeria Civil War is a result of Political, Economic ethnic Cultural and Religious tension and distrust. Those behind the war never thought of the sad band wagon effect and Consequences of their actions. On true federalism and the Rule of Law, ACIPA, “Like other true patriots and majority of Nigerians, we believe true federalism with a weak Centre will help Stabilize the Polity and meet sectarian demands. In the Same Vain we call on government to ensure Social justice and rule of law are applicable norms and practice in our society. Nothing Short of the Global Obtainable standard will be acceptable by Nigerians from this or any future administration. We are prepared to encourage negotiation and dialogue. www.sundiatapost.com/2017/07/30/attack-on-ndigbo-in-the-north-is-an-attack-on-all-christians-say-arewa-christians/ |

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu yesterday said Igbos vacating the North was not a condition for the actualisation of Biafra. Kanu spoke in an interview with journalists in Enugu, where he received awards from a number of pan-Igbo groups, including the Igbo Women Assembly, the Eastern Consultative Assembly and the Igbo Students Union. While reacting to the quit notice issued to Igbos in the North, Kanu said secession does not imply that Igbo must leave any part of Nigeria. He said, “You are aware that Scotland is seeking to leave the United Kingdom? Are you remotely implying that every person from Scotland, who lives in England, should now return to Scotland? “Britain just left the EU. Are you now implying that every British citizen in the EU should come back to Britain in order to finalise that process of extraction of Britain from the EU?” He described the Arewa Youth who have the ultimatum as ‘inconsequential’. Kanu, nonetheless, warned that Igbo, who resided in the North, were doing so at their own peril. He stated, “It is up to them. They have been in the North, and they (northerners) have been killing us (Igbo) since 1945. “If you choose to live in the North, you choose to be a sacrificial lamb because one day, they will kill you. It is a choice they have made and they will have to live with it.” He further insisted that the governorship poll in Anambra State, scheduled to hold on November 18, 2017, would not hold. He added, “No, I’m not (bothered) because the people are with us. We control the people 100 per cent and come Anambra, on the 18th of November, 2017, the whole world will be amazed.” Kanu said IPOB did not intend to stop anybody who decided to vote. “We are entirely peaceful. We are not stopping anyone from voting. If you want to vote, you can go and vote. We are democrats,” he said. The IPOB leader added, “We are calling for a referendum so that the people can actually decide, once and for all, what they want, for themselves; not anybody deciding for them. “I have not argued Biafra from the standpoint of absolutism. I am not saying you must vote for Biafra. I am asking the powers that be in Nigeria to allow the people to determine for themselves.” www.thenewsguru.com/igbos-who-chose-live-in-north-chose-to-be-sacrificial-lamb-says-kanu/ |
If he needs to go to another club where he can be better seen, why not? It's not Messi's fault that he's just too good - the real G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time). |
CHESTER48:Ok, chief. You have a right to your view point, though I may not entirely agree with you. |
This is nonsense. Why should I believe this so-called ancient bible? Because it says what is contradictory to what my Bible says? This so-called bible proves nothing. So much time has been spent trying to discredit Jesus Christ. Meanwhile, there are other people that founded religions. Yet, not half that time is spent analyzing them. Another so-called ancient script supposedly stated that Jesus Christ married, had kids and died at sixty-something yrs of age. Pure waste of time. Those that know the Truth know the Truth. |
Congrats to Abia. Anambra sixth? How the mighty have fallen. But no sweat. We'll rise again. Big ups to the South-south. More engine oil to their respective elbows. |

- Annkio Briggs called for a change of Nigeria's current structure - The activist said the north was benefiting than the rest of the country - She noted that the northern region was contributing nothing to the country Annkio Briggs who is an environmental activist from the Niger Delta has lashed out at the current Nigeria structure that sees the north benefit more from allocation sharing. In an interview with The Punch, Briggs noted that the north was at an advantage over the rest of the country due to having more states and local government. She said: “Today, we have a 36- state country with six geopolitical zones. The North has 19 states; the South has 17 states. Looking at that, you have a situation where the North has more senators in the Senate and the South has less. “What that means is that, if there is a bill that will be in the favour of the South, like what happened with the Petroleum Industry Bill – there is no way that PIB would have been passed if the North said it should not be passed. In the North, you have 19 states, 419 local government areas, 58 senatorial seats and 191 House of Representatives seats. '' The South has 17 states, 357 local government areas, 51 senatorial seats and 169 House of Representatives seats. So, if the Yoruba, all the ethnic groups in the Niger Delta, and the Igbo who are members of the National Assembly agree on anything that would benefit their people, and the North say no, the North’s position would be upheld. “We have six zones; all the zones must have equal number of states. You cannot have a situation where census was done and a state like Kano insists that it is more in population and therefore it must have 44 local government areas, but Bayelsa has only eight local government areas. “When you have allocation that is shared based on the number of local government councils, you would find how unjust the sharing is. The North, in terms of oil and gas, produces zero. “Yet, when we share based on local government allocation, the North gets 54.9 (per cent) of what we bring to the table. We (South-South) that bring 100 per cent get 45.1 per cent. Of course, it is injustice. When you go by state allocation, the North gets 57 per cent of 100 per cent that they are bringing zero per cent of, but the entire South is getting 43 per cent. “In the allocation of oil and gas, the South-South brings 91.54 per cent, the South-West, that is, the oil in Ondo State is 3.97 per cent. The oil in the South-East is 2.75 per cent. The North-Central, North-East and North-West brings 0.00 per cent, and yet, they take home more. “Somehow, people are able to overlook this and focus on the Niger Delta Development Commission that the government owes, and focus on Amnesty and the Ministry of Niger Delta. “We are saying, ‘Let go of the amnesty. Let go of the NDDC. The Ministry of Niger Delta, let go off it. The North-East Development Fund, let go of it. Let go of every palliative. Let everybody use what it has.’ That is the only justice that we will entertain now and pay tax to the Federal Government” https://www.naij.com/1116421-the-north-enjoying-lion-share-providing-briggs.html |
Sheer foolishness. And, they make it sound as if Igbos are begging to remain in Nigeria. That's not entirely true. What the Igbo are saying is - ''In the event we secede from Nigeria, how do we get access to and retain our investments scattered all over northern and sw Nigeria''. What will be the terms and conditions? . This is not entirely out of place cos people own and manage businesses in foreign lands. One must't be from a country to own businesses there. Then again, do these northerns ''youths'' actually understand what restructuring really means? Their baseless fear of it seems due to lack of info. |
God bless the Igbos. |
They should tarry a while longer. Their travails (actually travails of the Igbo, in general) are about to end. |
Agumbankembu:Very sad. The plight of our kith and kin over there is really heart-wrenching. |
