What do you mean by MTN conceived? Is it not the Govt that started the Tax for Roads, and do you know what that means --- MTN is using future taxes to build roads. Money that ought to have gone to the Govt for sharing. This is a Federal Project or they told you MTN is building this for free? If PBAT wanted to cancel it, he could have. FEC approved in 2022, PBAT came in 2023. He saw it to completion and if you look at it very well, the cement construction of that road is ongoing. Hate would not allow you to see like Dave Umahi said. May God give you wisdom beyond hate.

Was it not MTN that renovated this road? The government might have done finishing touches to the renovation but MTN conceived and started it.

FoodRe: Why I Sell My Akara For ₦22,000 – Akara Lekki Owner Opens Up (Photos) by MasterTeeUSA: 4:27pm On Jul 14
When you go to sporting events in the US, ask them why they sell the same coke for $10 that is less than $1 in a pack or $1.25 in outside store. Just leave people's business alone. If you are too poor to buy, move on. The person was probably forced to come out and explain to poor people running down her business. There is 1st class, Premium Economy and Basic Economy...sit where your money can reach. I guess this is why they cover First class areas with curtains, so poor people won't start saying...why are they drinking that wine and you gave us water and small soda lol?

Marvieduke:
Why I Sell My Akara for ₦22,000 in Lagos –Akara Lekki Owner Opens Up

The owner of The Akara Lekki has broken her silence amid the massive online backlash over the eatery’s premium platters priced as high as ₦22,000, insisting that customers are paying for far more than just ordinary bean cakes.

In a recent interview, the entrepreneur behind the now-viral Lekki spot defended her pricing model, arguing that her product represents a completely different class of akara compared to the roadside versions sold for ₦50 or ₦100 per piece. “I’m not selling ordinary akara. I’m selling an experience,” she said.

“From the quality of beans, premium fillings like seafood, chicken, and beef, to the hygienic environment and professional presentation, everything is intentional.”

She highlighted the high cost of doing business in upscale Lekki Phase 1, including rent, quality ingredients, skilled staff, and maintaining a clean, air-conditioned space that appeals to customers who want a premium twist on a beloved Nigerian street food.

“People compare us to roadside sellers, but they are not comparing apples to apples. Our customers understand the value, clean oil, fresh ingredients, proper packaging, and a place where they can sit and enjoy without stress,” the owner added.

The comments flooded in after social media exploded with mixed reactions to the ₦22,000 platters.

While critics called it “outrageous” and “disconnected from reality” in Nigeria’s current economy, others have defended the business, saying those who can afford it should be free to patronise luxury versions of local delicacies.

The Akara Lekki has two locations in Lekki and continues to attract curious customers and delivery orders despite the controversy.
Car TalkRe: Why We Are Impounding Vehicles With Tinted Glasses In Anambra — Police by MasterTeeUSA: 4:21pm On Jul 14
SP Ikenga explained that the exercise was initiated to enable the Police to verify the authenticity of tinted glass permits, detect forged or fraudulently obtained permits, enforce compliance with vehicle registration and number plate regulations, and prevent criminal elements from taking advantage of such violations to evade security checks and perpetrate crimes.

According to him, intelligence available to the Command has shown that criminals increasingly exploit tinted vehicles and improperly identified vehicles to conceal their identities and frustrate law enforcement efforts during criminal operations.

The Police spokesman acknowledged that the exercise might cause temporary inconvenience to genuine motorists, but, however, explained that the action had become necessary in view of the prevailing security situation and the Command's determination to enhance public safety across the state.

*I drive an SUV in Nigeria. It is not factory tinted. That is why I know you don't know what you are saying. Now you are citing nonsense stats as 98%. I just shake my head. I guess police should wait till someone in tinted vehicle to shoot at them before they can react or wait to be ambushed. I would do the same and much worse. If you are inconvenience, well it will be for a day, and we will give you a special tag to ensure it is well noted and not done illegally or with fraudulent documents to carry out crimes.*

PoliticsRe: Oseni Rufai Reacts To Oluremi Tinubu's Advice, Shares Video Of Long Govt Convoy by MasterTeeUSA: 12:19am On Jul 13
Rufai Oseni should go and become a blogger. First lady asking our artists to get more involved in charity is not asking for too much. They attend GALA in the USA where funds are raised for the Arts and so many other things. Our artists even play in some of these charitable events abroad.

Most times when the President or First Lady is going to events, say commissioning of the Abuja entrance, lots of people will follow and their security entourage as well. Even for Burial at Maryland USA that I attended, it was close to or more than 50 vehicles that went there. So imagine first lady with 2 security vehicles, ambulance...that is already 4...then Senate President, FCT Minister, and other invited guests. All of them will not travel separately and you cannot tell the security protocol for the First Lady to also guide the Senate President or the one for Senate President to guide the FCT Minister.

In the USA, you may not see them like this, but they travel days in advance and station snippers along the routes ...they even move special vehicles and use helicopters and so on...probably more expensive than burning gasoline. One of the reasons I find it hard to ever consider running for office is because instead of people asking questions to understand, they prefer to remain ignorant and make assumptions or make insinuations. Until we change our mindset, we would never trust our leaders.

Do you drive one of such SUVs? Why did you buy it and for what? If you cannot stop and be searched, then go and sell the SUV. Police can stop your tinted vehicles under reasonable suspicion ...that you have a certificate or not does not stop that. Go and review New York Stop and Search under Giuliani. It significantly reduced violence in NYC. We need more of these with these vehicles, not less....they could be moving kidnapped victims with these cars.

Be ready and be prepared like Boys Scout.

CLOUDRepublic:
I am writing this out of fear and out of being inquisitive. People that are poor, why are they poor?

I didn't grow up in a rich neighborhood. My estate was mixture of civil servants, government workers and petty traders. Everybody relying on each other for one thing or the other

But as time went on, I started to observe other kids saying and some times telling me I'm from a rich home.
Of course, that was their perception since they are oblivious of the struggles my family faced always waiting "for end of the month".
And never enough money to last a whole month.

As time went by, I started being conscious of people looking scrawny and wearing just one type of clothes with less colour. Dry looking skin, feet and wearing palm sandals.

I didn't like that kind of dressing so I always wore a white canvas mum bought for me meant for church. I also used to wear one I acquired from my brother by "rite of passage"🤔

When they see me, they always stared at me and even laughed at me that I was wearing a fine canvas. I tried to explain to them that it keeps the skin dust free and neat nails. These people call me Ajebutter.

It didn't make any sense to me. Why would you laugh at me for wearing something good? I felt we should always try to solve a problem when we observe it... Instead of thinking we are strong and exposing the skin to harm

I was still a kid but it gradually became obvious most of these people were poor.

Let me make her understand since she is not informed.

1. They were paying estimated billing before, and did not pay off the previous balance. They must have been paying N50k and using N150k lol.
2. The same account was used to open the new PrePaid Meter, and the NEPA guy used his name to help her parents from running up and down to submit this or that.
3. The Balance she is seeing there is what they have used.

If she thinks the guy used the meter, and removed it and passed it over to her, she is probably very wrong because they MAP these prepaid meters to addresses. She can also request for her usage records, so she can see where the charges came from.

Why are some well-learned folks Poor?
1. They did not get to their positions by merit.
2. They teach but do not apply what they teach.
3. They have contentment. Not everyone is obsessed with wealth.

My Professor, Ira Levine, may his soul rest in peace, singlehandedly wrote Physical Chemistry. Go and check most college chemistry books, they usually have multiple authors. Not sure he even married or had kids. He was Jewish, so it was rare for him not to marry or have kids. When I went to another state to work in the Chemistry Dept managing the Chemistry Lab as part of my Masters Full Scholarship program, the Professor there was shocked when I told her my Professor was Ira Levine. I think I saw his textbook in her office, and I told her that he was my Professor. He was considered a genius I guess. His final exam was 5.5hrs and midterm exam was 3hrs long. If you see him, you will think he is a homeless guy. Go figure...so don't be fooled by wealth. His textbooks alone probably made him a millionaire already.

That is a country that is 100% safe o..imagine Nigeria with all the insecurity. Govt should do well though to create approval processes and enforce them.

Special Travel Considerations

If you’re traveling to Qatar and want to bring your drone, the CAA lists these special considerations for foreigners who want to fly drones:

Only citizens of Qatar are allowed to fly drones within the country. To the best of our knowledge, foreigners attempting to enter the country with a drone will have it confiscated at customs.

For those ignorant amongst us, they do this in the USA too. They will even test your tinted glasses and if it is above the state regulations, you get fined. It is very dangerous to use very tinted glasses.

Police can kill you in the USA thinking you were reaching for a gun because they cannot see inside your vehicle. My new vehicle has no tinted window in the driver window and very low at the back to prevent sun heat.

We need to have more enforcement now as elections draw near, so we do not have war in our hand due to smuggled weapons. Keep up the hardwork.

IzunnaOkafor:
By Izunna Okafor, Awka

The Anambra State Police Command has explained the rationale behind its ongoing enforcement exercise involving the impoundment of vehicles fitted with tinted glasses, clarifying that the operation is aimed at strengthening security and not intended to harass or inconvenience law-abiding residents.

The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, amid growing public reactions over the exercise.

According to the Police Spokesman, the exercise targets all vehicles fitted with tinted glasses, including those whose owners possess tinted glass permits. The exercise, he said, also targets unregistered vehicles, as well as vehicles with concealed, covered or defaced number plates.

He further emphasized that the enforcement operation is not targeted at victimising any individual but is strictly a security measure designed to safeguard lives and property.

The Command appealed to residents to cooperate with security operatives and exercise patience while the verification exercise continues, assuring that officers involved had been directed to carry out their duties professionally and in accordance with the law.

The Police Spokesman also reaffirmed the Command's commitment to sustaining proactive policing and other security measures aimed at denying criminals the opportunity to operate within the state.

Before I traveled, I used to volunteer at my church in Nigeria, Gateway Baptist Church, teaching youths Sciences and Maths for WAEC and JAMB. I was humbled by not meeting my JAMB cut off, and Dad made me stay home to retake instead of using his influence to get me into another course my number would enter at UI. I retook and got way more than ...then UI went on strike for 9 months.

I started home tutoring and I was informed some of our youths had issues passing entrance exams in church and had instead taking to religious positions. I volunteered and started. Eventually a new position, Academic Coordinator was created. They also agreed to pay my transportion because I had refused to be paid. It was then I got my admission and told them I have to go for the visa interview. I was told if God wants me to travel, it will be done...else I can continue in my position. I was sure it was God's time.

Like the author said, giving is a gift. We all have something to give. Stunned by scholarships I had received over the years by unknown people I never met, I made a decision to give back. This year marks the 5th year of MultiMillion Naira Summer Project at IDAGBA Empowerment Foundation. I am not RICH, but I believe in giving, I have gotten much more.

I have also created a free WhatsApp group for landlords called Landlording in Nigeria to help people manage tenants well. Reach out if you want to join.

Nairaland111:
Giving Is a Gift, Not a Geographical Location

Have you ever asked yourself why some people in the diaspora do not send money home to their friends?

Many people argue that it is because of the struggles and sacrifices involved in earning money abroad. Others believe that people back home often assume that everyone overseas is picking money like fruit from trees. To be fair, both arguments have some truth to them. Sometimes, when you see how hard people work just to survive abroad, you may even wonder how they manage to support others financially.

Despite these arguments, I decided to carry out a little experiment this morning. I called a few friends back home and told them I urgently needed ₦5,000 to complete a transaction. I promised to repay the money the following week.

Out of 10 close friends, only one was willing to help immediately and even told me not to worry because we are friends. Imagine that. Ten friends, eight of whom work in government institutions and the remaining two are businessmen. Some people may ask about the nature of our relationship. These are people I consider brothers, and we had been together for more than five years before I travelled.

That experience led me to a conclusion: giving is a gift, and it has little to do with geographical location. Before calling people in the diaspora stingy, how often have we helped those around us with the little we have?

You do not have to live overseas before you can help someone. Generosity is a way of life. While it may be true that some people abroad become more cautious because of the stress involved in making money, I would argue that we should also ask what they were like before they travelled. Were they naturally generous? Or were they often taken advantage of because of their kindness?

At the end of the day, kindness is not determined by where you live but by the condition of your heart. The willingness to help others is a character trait, not a geographical advantage.

Let us all try to support one another, regardless of our location. As said:

"It is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving."

Foreign AffairsRe: Israel Must Free Itself Of Dependence On US Arms, Netanyahu by MasterTeeUSA: 5:59am On Jun 24
Good luck with that. How much is Israel...Hasidic Jews ...let me give you some stats

Hasidic Jews are a subset of the ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) Jewish population. The Haredi community makes up roughly 14.3% of Israel's total population (around 1.45 million people). Demographers estimate that approximately one-third of this Haredi population identifies specifically with Hasidic sects. The Haredi community is one of the fastest-growing demographics in Israel, driven by high birth rates. Official projections from the Israel Democracy Institute expect this ultra-Orthodox group to make up about 20% to 22% of the country's total population by 2050.

Men: A notable portion of Hasidic men do not participate in the traditional workforce. Instead, they devote their lives to full-time Torah study in yeshivas (religious seminaries), supported by community charity, state stipends, and working spouses. Overall, only about 50% of ultra-Orthodox men are employed.

Women: Conversely, about 80% of ultra-Orthodox women are employed. They often act as the primary breadwinners, working in education, administration, and services.

So give or take about 10% - 12% do no work. Productivity of a small nation suffers. They try to use techs and depend solely on America. How do you keep funding govt dependency??

If only it was this simple

1. The Rich get inside information to buy or sell so they cant lose.

2. They have super computers and can trade faster than you..so they can buy and sell massively before your small trades goes through.

3. Yes, some are allowed to buy before it goes public...again inside information ..who you know and what you know.

Stock Market is not a game for poor and average people. Don't be fooled. It is best you use your small money to invest in real estate jejeli until you have enough to play with the Big Boys.

givedemwotowoto:
As long as there’s no fundamental unrecoverable problem with SpaceX, this is probably the time to buy

How stock works in a very simple overview is, let’s say a company wants to sell shares for $1 per share.

Before they go public, they first of all sell to private investors at let’s say 50 cents. They may even do multiple private rounds at different prices.

When the shares finally go public at $1, that’s when you and I (the ordinary people) buy.

After the public sales, initial investors sell off their shares. If you bought at 50 cents, you’ve automatically made 100% profit.

Once they sell off, the prices drop like you see now. That’s when some ignorant folks start selling at a loss out of panic, thinking there’s a problem.

Funny thing is, if it drops by 50%, the same investors who sold off will buy again. When it starts rising again as they’re buying, some of us will jump back in again due to FOMO, then they sell off again, and the cycle continues.

I explained this in the simplest form without boring you with technical jargons.

She was elected by the council members, not an election by the people. With her salary, I doubt she can do anything, as this looks like a ceremonial position - first among equals. My City recently did the same, removing the rights of the people to vote for their own Mayor because the current Mayor lives in a new community that overwhelmingly votes drowning out the votes of people that have lived in the City for Decades. She often have conflicts with the council members. I like her though, cos she brings new energy and innovation not the old ways of doing things. After that reshuffle, I doubt she would be elected Mayor again. I saw her contesting for the Democratic Committee slot in the primary election. Election in the West is not your mate.
