Phones / 8 Recommended Ways To Protect Your Eyes While Using A Smartphone by matrixx9(m): 6:37am On Jan 10, 2017
Most of us spend a lot of time on our smartphones. Sometimes while using these smartphones, our eyes hurt or we feel some pain in our eyes.

Most Doctors advise people not to spend a lot of time in front of screens .
If you really want to protect your eyes while using a smartphone, then follow the instructions below :

1. Keep It Far From Your Eyes

Most people spend their free time texting , watching movies or just surfing on internet .
The average smartphone screen size is small so they put their smartphones very close to their eyes. This is wrong, if you put your phone very close to your eyes, you may start having issues with your eyes.

Always remember to keep your smartphone 15 to 20 inches away from your eyes.

2. Blink Periodically
Most people hardly  blink while playing games or watching an interesting movie on their smartphone. This may cause redness or dryness of your eyes. If you want protect your eyes then you ought to blink your eyes regularly.

An average person blinks 2-50 times per minute depending on the condition. Blink your eyes to keep your eyes clean and moist.

3. Reduce screen brightness:

Most people love to increase the brightness of their smartphones. Increased brightness levels are harmful to the eyes.

So, always remember to set the level of your smartphone brightness to a level that's good for your eyes. I recommend using automatic brightness so your device can adapt to the different light levels at different conditions.

4. Wash your face:

Constant use of your smartphone may leave your eyes weak and tired. After a while you feel a slight pain in your eyes. To reduce the dryness of your eyes wash your face . This helps your eyes feel relaxed.

5. Use Anti-glare Protection :

Most smartphones come with anti-glare coating or special corning glass protection. But if your device doesn't have any of those, then you have to get an anti-glare coating or corning glass protection for your device .

You can also use anti-glare lens or glasses to protect your eyes as well.

6. Take A Break :

Always take a break while using your smartphone. Close your eyes for few minutes during the break.

7. Use Eye Therapy:

Close your eyes and put 2 fingers on your closed eyes and move them round . It helps to relax your eyes.

8. Take Vitamin A And Yeast Supplement

I normally do this to protect my eyes while blogging. My eyes used to hurt so bad at a certain point but once I took the vitamin A and yeast supplements for about 5 days, the pain reduced and my eyes were back to normal. If you're having a similar issue try this out.

I believe with these methods you can protect your eyes while using your smartphone.

Webmasters / 5 Common Blogging Myths That Are Not True by matrixx9(m): 2:22am On Dec 12, 2016
Myth #1 | Only Blog posts between 300-700 words are the best

When you have an audience that has the patience of a fruit fly, you have to get in and get out. The truth is most blogs with helpful content — are the posts that will get indexed by Google.

That’s where and how the traffic comes rushing in. Social Media sharing only works as hard as you do. SEO only helps your posts work for you long after you’ve finished promoting the post.

Most Of The Long Articles On My Blog Have Almost 60,000+ views each and still get views daily.

Myth #2 | Blogging is all about writing

There are two answers to this :
Yes ..and no. The main idea blogging is really about education and entertainment. As a blogger like you're the owner of a school. It’s your job to produce content and information that is relevant, insightful , and entertaining. It’s your job to make someone’s life better and more meaningful.

I've had situations on my blog when people comment and thank me for writing a particular post, all i can do is smile because that's what it means to be a blogger.
Writing is also part of this equation, but if there's one word to encompass blogging, it certainly wouldn’t be writing.
Blogging is about content curation.

Myth #3 | Using a lot of plugins /widgets can ruin a blog
This myth is quite tricky, on one hand it is true . But do you know that it can take just ONE plugin to bring your blog to its kneed? That’s right. One line of misplaced code and your whole blog will break to pieces .

Be very careful about the plugins or widgets you install. Even if someone says so much about it, you don’t know how it’s going to work with YOUR template /theme and the other plugins/widgets you have already installed. Even if the plugin/widget doesn't give you any trouble for months, it can stop working all of a sudden with your theme/template or WordPress (especially if there is an update).

Myth #4 | Google + is not necessary to get traffic

You'll probably think that with Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, why do you need yet another social platform?
Many bloggers tend to assume that their audience is just not there, so it makes no sense to share posts there . On the contrary Google + has one of the most active and intelligent communities and believe me a simple Google plus share (+1) is better than 100 Facebook likes

Myth #5 | Avoiding sharing a competitor’s blogs so you don’t lose readers

Most Nigerian Bloggers are guilty of this, it's very rare to see a Nigerian blogger link to another blogger on the same niche

All the same it's quite normal to feel intimidated by someone who has a better blog or bigger audience. But sharing a competitor’s blog posts does two things.
First , it helps to spread the blog's good karma online.

Secondly, it shows your readers and followers that you really want to help them, even if it means going to someone else. .

Everyone and everything has a story. I want to use this opportunity to share my experience with you. It's been a tough but fruitful journey. I'll start from the very beginning so you can understand this story.

How I Started
I started using computers at the age of 8, and I love anything related to Tech and Gadgets. I always dreamt of owning a website and making it become popular.
I designed my first website with wapka and it took me about 3 months to even get it done because i didn't have any knowledge of html.

To be honest the first blog was a mess at first but after I got to know about CSS. I began to pick interest in web design. At this point in time, I never knew there was a way to earn money from a website. All I wanted was a platform to express myself.

With the web design knowledge i had gotten from wapka, I moved to blogger. Designing my blog was as easy as ABC because wapka already gave me the required knowledge. I opened a news blog but it didn't go well so I decided to move to my area of expertise. Tech.

Challenges
Tech Blogging is very challenging, I guess this is because most people who come to tech blogs are usually people who need a solution to a certain tech related problem and in order to keep their trust, you have to try to help them out unlike the entertainment blogs where its almost unnecessary for the blogger to respond to comments.

You don't just wake up one day and say you want to open a tech blog. If you have no knowledge about gadgets and technology, I'll advise you stay in entertainment.

Another challenge is writing phone reviews, this is the part that can really get frustrating for any serious minded tech blogger.

In order to keep up with the trends, I have to read the reviews of another blog to write my own reviews. I think this is because I'm not based in Lagos as most companies prefer to send phones to bloggers that are based there. Apart from the device I received from Obi Worldphones via Invicta Africa and devices I've used myself or requested from friends, for any other review I get details from different blogs then compare it before writing my own reviews but I guess it may be quite different if I get to more devices to review as I have my own view of things.

Tech Blogging has helped me work with quite a number of brands, Invicta Africa, Obi World Phones, JiJi, etc. in just a Year.

What I've Learnt So Far
1.Running a Tech Blog Alone Is Very Stressful

2.Keeping Partnership With Brands Is Very Important

3.Tech Blogs Tend To Earn More Than Entertainment blogs

4.Affiliate Marketing Favors Tech Blogs more.

5.Having a good relationship with your audience on social media helps a lot

6.Being controversial once in a while helps but avoid getting into trouble or posting anything that will ruin your reputation

7.As a Tech Blogger, remember you're not just there to make your money, you're also there to help people. Never neglect your audience.

8. Don't chase potential advertisers away with high costs of advertising.

9. Sometimes schedule posts and take a few days off. Even people working at top tech blogs like TechCrunch get days off.

10. Reduce blogging stress by using an RSS FEED Reader.

That's my story. What's yours? I'd like to know.

Phones / Whatsapp Video Calling Is Now Available For All Users by matrixx9(m): 1:15am On Nov 16, 2016
WhatsApp is rolling out video calling today to its 1 billion
+ monthly users. That’s basically the whole story — if
you’d like to use it, update the app, open a chat, and tap
the familiar video camera icon in the top-right corner. The
video chat results look like the video chatting you’ve done
before on FaceTime, Skype, Facebook Messenger, or
Google Duo: two faces, one in a smaller window, with a
handful of small features for changing the position of the
chat windows or turning the camera around.

It's really unimpressive that video calls took until
November 2016 to arrive on Whatsapp. This reflects the
app’s cautious approach to product development.
Whatsapp was initially launched in 2009, but group chats
didn’t come until two years later, and voice calls didn’t
come until four years after that .

That it took seven years for WhatsApp to add video calling
likely reflects both the expense of doing so and the fact
that many of its users around the world don’t have access
to the high-bandwidth connections or data plans that
would support it. And if version 1.0 of the video call looks
basic, the company says it will evolve.

You have to get update your Whatsapp to get access to it.
I tested the new video calling feature and I must say it was
quite okay despite the fact my network connection was
pretty bad . Voice quality on a much better connection
won't be as good as you expect it but remember this is the
first version with a video calling feature. So it's obviously
going to improve with time. Seems Imo just got
themselves a very huge competitor.

How Much Data Does It Take?

Basically 29mb in 12 minutes that's about 2.41 mb per
minute which is quite impressive. Skype, FaceTime and
most video calling apps use 3mb per minute.
