undecided
A Believer is who I am.
Christian is a name people call me (Christian : Like Christ, little Christ)

If Christian is your nickname, so to speak; Believer would be your real name.

God does not call us Christians, but in the Bible, He instructs us in the New Testament and refers to us as Believers.

the_seeker:

@justcool, your idea is quite intriguing but i think it can be fine tuned. Any light that reflected from the earth in the past will be spreading out at the speed of light (186,000ml/s). You are suggesting deploying a telescope that will intercept these rays and beam it back to us. What you fail to realize is that this telescope has to travel to the point X at which it wil start recording. The speed at which this telecope will travel from earth to point X is also limited by the speed of light.

Let me give you clearer decscription. If we were to deploy the telescope TODAY (assumming we have technology to transport at speed  of light) the telescope will be travelling side by side with rays that just reflected from the earth. Hence it cannot record any data older that TODAY. It even gets worse considering that this captued image wilL have to take an equalt length of time to reach us back on earth
,
@The seeker: Brilliant! cheesy That was exactly what I was going to say when I read the OP. The argument is flawed on that one point. If it takes us 1 year to fly our history-decoder into outer space, then you can only start viewing history FROM that point, and not even 10 years ago let alone 6000 years.

@OP: Interesting idea. With some fine-tuning, you can use this idea for a sci-fi novel or suggest it to a movie director wink

I just found out that I am wrong, there are in fact 12 dimensions proposed so far, and the elusive FINAL theory of Physics may be operating at the 12th dimension.

I give you http://mkaku.org/home/?page_id=262

Is the End in Sight?

Vafa recently added a strange twist to this when he introduced yet another mega-theory, this time a 12 dimensional theory called F-theory (F for “father”) which explains the self-duality of the IIb string. (Unfortunately, this 12 dimensional theory is rather strange: it has two time co-ordinates, not one, and actually violates 12 dimensional relativity. Imagine trying to live in a world with two times! It would put an episode of Twilight Zone to shame.) So is the final theory 10, 11, or 12 dimensional?

Schwarz, for one, feels that the final version of M-theory may not even have any fixed dimension
. He feels that the true theory may be independent of any dimensionality of space-time, and that 11 dimensions only emerges once one tries to solve it. Townsend seems to agree, saying “the whole notion of dimensionality is an approximate one that only emerges in some semiclassical context.” So does this means that the end is in sight, that we will someday soon derive the Standard Model from first principles? I asked some of the leaders in this field to respond to this question. Although they are all enthusiastic supporters of this revolution, they are still cautious about predicting the future. Townsend believes that we are in a stage similar to the old quantum era of the Bohr atom, just before the full elucidation of quantum mechanics. He says, “We have some fruitful pictures and some rules analogous to the Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rules, but it’s also clear that we don’t have a complete theory.”

Duff says, “Is M-theory merely a theory of supermembranes and super 5-branes requiring some (as yet unknown) non- perturbative quantization, or (as Witten believes) are the under- lying degrees of freedom of M-theory yet to be discovered? I am personally agnostic on this point.” Witten certainly believes we are on the right track, but we need a few more “revolutions” like this to finally solve the theory. “I think there are still a couple more superstring revolutions in our future, at least. If we can manage one more superstring revolution a decade, I think that we will do all right,” he says. [b]Vafa says, “I hope this is the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ but who knows how long the tunnel is!” [/b]Schwarz, moreover, has written about M-theory: “Whether it is based on something geometrical (like supermembranes) or some- thing completely different is still not known. In any case, finding it would be a landmark in human intellectual history.” Personally, I am optimistic. For the first time, we can see the outline of the lion, and it is magnificent. One day, we will hear it roar.

The lion referred to above is this one,
"Nature shows us only the tail of the lion. But I do not doubt that the lion belongs to it even though he cannot at once reveal himself because of his enormous size" - Albert Einstein

@bawomolo:
I will not proceed to discuss Final Theory or the Eleventh dimension here. Read the article by Michio Kaku, professor of theoretical physics at the City University of New York. As far as I know, he is one of the only (most?) respected proponents of the Eleventh

If you are using NOD32, it is good, but then it is obvious to me that you haven't updated in a long while (which accounts for the virus), or maybe the virus had attacked the system before NOD32 was installed. NOD32 is very good, the only difference with Smart Security (which I use) is that the Smart Security has more firewall / antispam / internet and network protection options. NOD32 is an antivirus and a good one.

Non-trial? Sorry I can't help you there! sad You may have to purchase it, it's quite cheap (I saw your past posts about [i]organizing [/i]for people so I guess you won't have a problem purchasing a license! tongue)

oh i see that's interesting. Would there be a reason for Christ to delay his coming?
When AIO said delay his coming, he meant "delay" with respect to us, meaning that IF IT DOES NOT HAPPEN BEFORE THE SAID TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT. It's not Delay like it happens with airplane flights undecided

You have made two assumptions, one being that heaven exists and another being that heaven is disjoint from "higher" dimensions observable. If these dimensions aren't observable, how do you know they exist?

i'm smelling some guesswork and hypothesis being presented as fact here.
And your point is? undecided I was answering KunleOshob, a professed Christian who accepts heaven as a fundamental matter of faith. So now you want me to go about proving to you the existence of heaven and what the nature of its higher dimensions in real and virtual planes are? If na dat one you go wait tire o.

Authorities in the fields think this is what higher dimensions are all about
i've heard of a 4th dimension but what authorities speak of a 10th dimension?
Why not use the google engine? Keywords: Field theory, Supergravity, supersymmetry, general relativity, M-Theory, Physics, Higher Dimensions. I am sure you will come up with something because I did when I was inquisitive enough months ago.

Here are Wikipedia articles on the 4th, 5th and 6th dimensions.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_dimension
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_dimension
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixth_dimension

the ones higher than the 6th are mostly in conjecture for now. In advanced physics so far, there are postulates on dimensions up to the ELEVENTH. I do not know if there are any more now, but to my knowledge few weeks back it was eleven.

Cheers.

Interesting! If the registry is also disabled, then you need to first of all re-enable it before dealing with the task manager issue.

Method 1:
If you don’t like to mess with the registry, you can download a VBScript that will enable the registry for you when you run it. The script is a little advanced and will not harm your computer, it’s actually written by a Microsoft MVP!

http://www.dougknox.com/security/scripts_desc/regtools.htm

You can download the script and then just double click on it to run it. After that, try the registry should be enabled.

Method 2:
If you wanna mess with the registry  cheesy (i take no responsibility for what happens, but I have done this before)

Go to Start, then Run and paste the following line into the run box (it must all be in one line, though)

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

refer to the attached image below.

Method 3: You can also re-enable the registry using the Microsoft Group Policy Editor but that one na long thing  tongue

-----------------------------------------------------
After re-enabling the registry, then you can re-enable the task manager using any of the previously-mentioned methods. Then let me know how it goes.

Cheers!

^^^ Seen. But to clarify my point, the evening and the next morning which defined the day were announced WHEN God finished each creation process in time. And the Hebrew Word used is יום
                                        (yôm)

which refers to an era, an age, a time, of which the 24 hour day is a special case. Now, since the day was defined by God as the period in which there was Light (for Him to work) and Night was the period of darkness; and he called the light into existence (the light was in His control), can he not also control it's limits on the timescale? What I am saying is that the DAY was defined as the period of light before another period of darkness. Where is the indication that it was exactly 86400 seconds? I believe the light stayed on for as long as God needed to work, whether it was a 15 milli-second day or a 10.7million set of years.

My submission. Thanks for hearing me out.

KunleOshob:

So were did the producers of that video get there "facts" from
In science, it's called HYPOTHESIS. It's not a theory, these are world-wide accepted postulates about higher dimensions. Authorities in the fields think this is what higher dimensions are all about, and for those of us who do not have better answers, we can either ignore their postulates or accept them. It's not a life-or-death matter.  undecided

(A)
KunleOshob:

I am sorry my dear but the higher dimensions postulated in that video are not observable in the physical place. that aprt i suspect heaven exist in another dimension not physically perceivable to human abilities.

(B)
KunleOshob:

Very confusing, i can only think in the third dimension.

By the way which dimension is heaven in
So if you knew (A) above, why did you ask me (B)?  undecided undecided undecided undecided
Religion / Re: Born Again Christian Women Wearing Make-up, Is It Biblical? by mavenbox: 8:35pm On Dec 10, 2009
@Topic: Is it Biblical for Christian women to brush their teeth rather than just rinsing it out with water like the ancient Jewish women? Is it Biblical for them to wear glass shades when the sun is hot, since glass was not manufactured in those days? Is it biblical for men to wear long-sleeved shirts and ties (what on earth is that bowtie, by the way? It's not in the Bible!!)

There is nothing wrong with makeup. Moderation is the key because God looks at the heart's intents while man looks at the outward appearance.

@kunleOshob: Ok But I dont think you can find facts supporting higher dimensions if your window of observation is within 3D

@bawomolo: I was talking about Jesus' return aka the end of the age. I was talking to a Christian so he understood my point. (Pastor AIO, thanks)

Talking about pi and e, I was implying that HEAVEN, a spiritual place (which KunleOshob asked about) is disjoint with higher dimensions observable in this physical place, just as irrational and rational numbers in set theory. There is no intersection of the number sets. I think he understood my point, though undecided
Religion / Re: Understanding The 10th Dimension by mavenbox: 7:35pm On Dec 10, 2009
@KunleOshob: LOL there may not be much evidence if you seek it now, because almost all of human experience is still in the 3D world. The few ones that are not are deemed paranormal. But very soon, if Christ tarries, I believe we may experience "technological advancements" such as time-travel, which will apply some of these dimensions and put them into practical use. After all, at one time the law of gravity was all-assuming until the law of aerodynamics was initiated and man was air-borne in unprecedented vehicles.

@Olaadegbu: Many days I wish I could have more than 24 hours, there's always so much to do and so little time (besides wasting a good part of it on this new addiction: Nairaland). So why should God in his omnipotence be limited by this same 24 hour day?

The way I understand those Genesis days is this:

Each "day" started when God decided to continue the work.

Each day ended immediately God saw that it was good. Then Night came.

On the 7th "day", it started when God decided to take a break as a symbol to mankind that rest is important.

When he was done resting, the seventh day ended because its purpose was done.

God was not limited to 86400 seconds, which by the S.I. units is the duration of 794243384928000 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium 133 atom   undecided undecided

Hey, man, give the Creator some credit!

This is VERY different from man's experience, where the day ends without your control, and whatever you didn't get done will be shifted to the next day.

There are clear indications of nature-control methods like this in places where Jesus, sent of God, interacted with nature. He stepped out onto water, and the water had to hold him up, it didn't consult the laws of surface tension first of all. He spoke to the winds and the waves. He told his disciple to get a coin from a fish's mouth and the fish HAD to swallow the coin (maybe from a fisherman's leaking pocket?) and position itself to be caught.

Nature aligns itself with God's plan, God does not squeeze into nature's box.

As to the matter about the star-struck earth (permit the pun), I believe DeepSight has done justice to my views. Thanks, sir.

@Mazaje: Thanks for sharing your view!  cheesy Okay here is what I think.

God never introduced confusion or intended to make sects spring up. Let me use an analogy to express myself, as I do often. Consider a radio station transmitting signals over a metropolis. Some receivers will obtain a clearer signal than some others, based on such factors as the length and material of the antennae, the ambient atmospheric conditions, the distance between the receiver unit and the transmitter base-station or repeater, the coefficient of attenuation (loss of signals) with respect to the mode of transmission (e.g. AM / FM), etc. But does that mean that the radio station is faltering or equivocating in conversation? No it doesn't. YEC and OEC may have differing views but where it really matters, we know the truth.

And that is a reason why God continually warns us all in the Bible to test all things, approve of that which is good and hold fast to it, tenaciously.

Php 1:10  So that you may surely learn to sense what is vital, and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value [recognizing the highest and the best, and distinguishing the moral differences], and that you may be untainted and pure and unerring and blameless [so that with hearts sincere and certain and unsullied, you may approach] the day of Christ [not stumbling nor causing others to stumble].

1Co 14:10  There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

Pro 23:23  Buy the truth and sell it not; not only that, but also get discernment and judgment, instruction and understanding.

1Th 5:21  But test and prove all things [until you can recognize] what is good; [to that] hold fast.

1Jn 4:1  BELOVED, DO not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.
1Jn 4:2  By this you may know (perceive and recognize) the Spirit of God: every spirit which acknowledges and confesses [the fact] that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [actually] has become man and has come in the flesh is of God [has God for its source];
1Jn 4:3  And every spirit which does not acknowledge and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh [but would annul, destroy, sever, disunite Him] is not of God [does not proceed from Him]. This [nonconfession] is the [spirit] of the antichrist, [of] which you heard that it was coming, and now it is already in the world.

The above scripture is the foundation of faith in God, since our path to Him is through Christ Jesus. The foundation IS NOT the age of the earth or any other such thing. After all, that's why science and archaeology exist.

And that is one thing I have learnt in my walk with God: the things we NEED that pertain to life and godliness have been supplied by His divine Power, and are without any conflict, or confusing shadow. Things such as KNOWING that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. Any teaching against that is not of our faith.

2Pe 1:3  For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).

This entire YEC, OEC discussion is simply an exercise for man in the understanding of the earth we live in; as much as Adam in the garden of Eden spent hours daily (I presume) studying the animals and plants. Its not like God could not have told him EVERYTHING he had to know about Eden's flora and fauna, but like a good father, He let Adam discover life and enjoy it.

2Ti 2:15  Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.

Besides, it is one fulfillment of the prophecy:
Dan 12:4  But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the Book until the time of the end. [Then] many shall run to and fro and search anxiously [through the Book], and knowledge [of God's purposes as revealed by His prophets] shall be increased and become great. [Amos 8:12.]
