Am really confused because I don't just want to tamper with my phone as in all these bootloader stuffs and custom ROMs

All this long talk, he should just request to unlock bootloader, then when he gets permission, use any rom whether na China or Global rom that is available to fasboot flash it using miFlash tool. That is the guaranteed way to banish shop rom. Entering brickland cuz of unforeseen guess work is not a funny business o

Remember you guys are using different phones.... I have never seen a redmi 5 get bricked after OTA. But for Redmi 6 pro, well I have seen more than enough bricking over time

You see that area I highlighted? check yours, it starts with .TA instead of [number]_GENPACK

If your baseband version starts with anything .TA then you are holding a shop ROM variant

The installed OS version of MIUI is still the same with the update version.

Main reason why I said nobody should even try to order this device from jummia... They will send up sending you shop ROM variant.

As people have suggested, don't try to do any OTA update on this device until you unlock bootloader and flash the original ROM... Else, you will risk bricking your device and that my friend you don't want; trust me.

Still wondering why a seller would flash a fake rom that is still Chinese rom when he/she could have easily left the official Chinese rom that came with the phone. Did your phone came sealed?

I won't blame them much.... Most buyers on aliexpress don't understand pure English hence the need to flash a "global ROM" that has Multi-Language.

The sale they will make selling a Chinese version variant won't be up to what they will sell for a global version variant
