It will never be a bad device in 2019, the design will never not be trendy so long Samsung s8/s9 are still pleasing the eyes. Most people prefer the 18:9 display to 19:9 so I see no reason why it will be bad in 2019. If for anything the wide notch design will fizzle out next year, it will die a quick death.

You speak as though you are physically went to customs to clear the cargo with 300 naira.

You were simply lucky that your package wasn't routed to customs. What you paid was nipost handling fee. Many people who order items in the past 4 weeks weren't that lucky. I'm quite sure you wouldn't be this assertive if you hard placed phone orders within the last few weeks.

A few weeks ago I had 3 phone package and all 3 were billed customs duty, the lowest being 4k.


I would advise you to mark the statement of yours so we can refer to it the day Nipost customs will decide to treat your file.

Just because you have not had to pay more than #500 doesn’t mean everyone will escape it, scotweezy has made valid points tbh. Was at the PO today and a guy was billed 12k for a Redmi Note 6 pro. There is no guarantee that you will not pay custom fee if you decide to buy a phone via Alixpress tomorrow.If the seller declares $20, you will cough out that money if custom nabs you.

You might probably end up paying custom fees(that may rise to as much as 6k or more) and you will only be able to get the global rom model compared to the global version model you will be getting on jumia.
At the end of the day, it is still an okay device and another plus is the fact that it is still trendy and a good alternative to the notch carrying models flooding the market of recent.
At times the additional 5-7k might be difficult to squeeze out after you consider the fact that you will still need like 3k for accessories, if not, getting the Redmi note 5/6 is a better all round deal if the fund is available.

Nah! I beg to disagree. Point to a better spec'ed device you can easily get at that price in Nigeria i.e.Get within few days of ordering. It's only the Redmi note 5 and 6 you can get with a little bit of added cash, and it will take a couple of weeks to get it.

you are right. However I think what he was trying to say is that you shouldn't see the case as a standard, just enjoy it while it last. Mi Max 3 users can confirm that the was no case in the box from xiaomi

Am not even here to start dragging who is correct or not, all xiaomi owe us is the phone, charger and the sim ejector (which is basically the standard package) If they add a case, good if they don’t glory be to God. Nobody should come and start cursing xiaomi tomorrow if they fail to ship their phones with cases o.

My Redmi Note 5 is black and it came with a transparent case, but thanks to the oga I bought from, he added a cool case which am currently using
