OLAADEGBU:Look at the creed: For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures So we know that the earliest Christians believed he died and that he was buried And we know that they think he was buried. Note that this doesn't say in a tomb: it could be a tomb, it could be a common grave (not unreasonable for a crucified criminal in 1st century Palestine). There's no mention of the Empty Tomb until Mark, 30-40 years after Jesus' death. that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures We know that they believe he was "raised" on the third day. Note that this doesn't say bodily. There is significant evidence that there was a debate in the early Christian community about whether or not Jesus was raised bodily or spiritually. Look at how the Gospels embellish the "bodily resurrection" side as time goes on, as if they were written to bolster one side in a debate: in Mark, there's no discussion of post- Resurrection appearances, in Matthew, the appearances could easily be seen as either physical or non-physical, all the way to Jesus eating fish in Luke and Thomas thrusting his hands into Jesus' bodily wounds in John. and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. And we know that the earliest Christians believed that he appeared to people after his death. Again note, though, that it doesn't say bodily appearances. In fact, as Paul includes his own decidedly non-physical post- Resurrection experience in this list, it's not unreasonable to ask if the other appearances were the same way.

OLAADEGBU:The only reason you’re not a Murderer is because you read it in a book? |
People think karma means doing good then someone will do you good, or doing evil then evil will befall you. If you help someone and that person praises and gives thanks to you, don’t you feel inner happiness? You’ve already reaped it instantly! |

Ray Kurzweil, Google's Director of Engineering, is a well-known futurist with a high-hitting track record for accurate predictions. Of his 147 predictions since the 1990s, Kurzweil claims an 86 percent accuracy rate. At the SXSW Conference in Austin, Texas, Kurzweil made yet another prediction: the technological singularity will happen sometime in the next 30 years. In a communication to Futurism, Kurzweil states: 2029 is the consistent date I have predicted for when an AI will pass a valid Turing test and therefore achieve human levels of intelligence. I have set the date 2045 for the 'Singularity' which is when we will multiply our effective intelligence a billion fold by merging with the intelligence we have created. “By 2029, computers will have human-level intelligence,” Kurzweil said in an interview with SXSW… https://futurism.com/kurzweil-claims-that-the-singularity-will-happen-by-2045 |
The Concept of Eternity has long captivated human imagination. The idea of living forever has been explored in Literature, Philosophy, and Religion throughout history. However, as the oldest story of Humanity, "The Epic of Gilgamesh," reveals, the desire for Eternal Life can be seen as a form of Greed. King Gilgamesh, the protagonist of the Epic, is a powerful and arrogant ruler who is feared and respected by his subjects. However, when his best friend Enkidu dies, Gilgamesh is forced to confront his own mortality. Faced with the prospect of death, he embarks on a quest for Eternal Life. Gilgamesh's journey takes him to the ends of the earth, where he encounters various obstacles and challenges. Eventually, he realizes that his quest for Eternity is futile and that he must accept his own mortality. The story of Gilgamesh illustrates the danger of greed and the desire for Eternal Life. Gilgamesh's obsession with Immortality blinds him to the beauty of life and the importance of cherishing the time we have. His quest for Eternal Life is ultimately a futile one, and he comes to understand that death is an inevitable part of the human experience. The desire for Eternal Life can be seen as a form of Greed because it is a desire for more than what is natural and necessary. It is a desire to extend our existence beyond its natural limits and to avoid the inevitability of death. While it is natural to want to extend our lives and to enjoy the things we love for as long as possible, the desire for eternal life can become an obsession that leads to a neglect of our responsibilities and a disregard for others. Furthermore, the concept of Eternal Life raises important questions about the meaning and purpose of life. If we were to live forever, what would we do with all that time? Would life lose its value if it were never-ending? How would we find meaning and purpose in an existence that never ends? These are challenging questions that require careful consideration. As Robert Heinlein notes, "Millions who yearn for Eternity don't know what to do with themselves Sunday afternoons.” The desire for Eternal Life is often fueled by a fear of death, but it is important to remember that death is a natural part of life. Instead of obsessing over the desire for eternal life, we should focus on living our lives to the fullest and cherishing the time we have with our families, friends and making the most of the time we have. While the concept of Eternal Life may seem attractive, it is important to recognize the potential downsides of such an existence. It seems to me that those who desire to live forever have not thoroughly considered the implications of such an existence. How many times can one express gratitude and Praise to a Deity for avoiding damnation/hell before the significance of it all begins to fade? |
