Yeah, had to like that post mehn, as struck a chord with me, as there truly is something about Yoruba mythology and/or cosmology that's very intriguing. No other tribe in the country has anything close the Yoruba romance with spirituality

God’s personal name, well by default, centres around being Mysterious. So in Yoruba cosmology and mythology, this essence and nature of God, is beautifully captured, the best, in God being identified and called ’Eledumare’ or ’Olodumare’ of which, when this portmanteau Yoruba word, is deconstructed, it loosely translates to mean, the Owner or Custodian of absolute energy and infinite mysteries, who has knowledge of all blessings or the Owner of unique energy who also has possession of mystery/mystical knowledge of all manners of blessings.

Yoruba on this basis, affectionately describes God as ’Awamaridi’ which when loosely translated means the ’Unfathomable One’ (i.e. The incapable of being fully understood One)

Yoruba are an all rounder, well blessed lot, in almost everything. Have their own philosopher, indigenous to them, who easily could hold it down with the likes of Plato or Aristotle. Talking of Ọrunmila here, who happens to be one of my favourite philosophers, is believed to have existed a long lot earlier than Socrates. I dont know why, maybe I am biased, but if you ask me, I’ll say that Ọrunmila's philosophy is superior to Socrates.

Worshiping something you created or carved with your own hands is not only foolish but also senseless. My thinking is that you should serve something or being that is stronger or greater than you and not the other way. What you created is what should be serving you and not you worshiping or serving what you created.

That means your idol can be the car you bought which you treat like a god or that thing you have that is taking the place of god. It could be money, beauty, jewelry, anything at all that has taken the place of God in your life is an idol.
