FamilyRe: My Husband Is Boldly Cheating On Me, Help by mayor007(m): 10:53am On Aug 16, 2019
This is time to be smart.

Be logical and jettison being emotional.

Since you said you don't wanna involve the family, seek a therapist for your sake of mind.

I hope you have a steady source of income because children are expensive (if you are harbouring thoughts of leaving because you can't be assured he will be in the child's life if you leave).

If you wanna leave, ensure he establishes something sustainable for you while you set your plan in motion so that your innocent child won't suffer.

Take a breather from relationships and focus on that child for now.

May God help you.
PoliticsAPC Chieftain Alerts Tinubu Over Planned Sabotage Of Power-shift by mayor007(op): 10:22am On Apr 04, 2019
A chieftain of APC in Adamawa, Ahmed Lawal on Thursday, April 4 cautioned the Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu against saboteurs within the party.

Lawal gave the hint during a media interview in Yola.

He rued the activities of some elements in the party during the governorship election as repugnant to the planned power-shift idea of the party.

He further advised the leadership of the governing party to review its performance at the governorship election explaining such move would make it easy to identify those elements that were held bent to frustrate the planned power rotation to the southern part of the country.

Lawal, who is the Organising Secretary of the APC in Adamawa, accused some prominent members of the party of anti-party activities during the last general elections.

“As a party with a vision for equity and fairness, the APC has already planned to shift power to the southern part of Nigeria.

“It is worthy of note that some political elements in Northern Nigeria are opposed to the arrangement.

“They worked against APC during the last governorship elections with the aim of allowing the opposition PDP to win more states.

“This was done to build the PDP to be formidable to wrestle power from APC in 2023 against the interest of the south.

“I am urging the leadership of the party at the national level to review the last governorship elections with the view to identifying those elements and wield the stick on them.

“The south supported us to rule for eight years, it will be bad if we, in turn, betray them and still retain power in the north,” Lawal said.

HealthNAFDAC Raises Alert On Fake Meningitis Vaccines by mayor007(op): 10:08am On Apr 04, 2019
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted the Nigerians, especially health care providers, on the circulation of fake meningitis vaccines circulating in the Niger Republic.

According to a press statement by Moji Adeyeye, NAFDAC’s Director General, health authorities in that country issued an alert on the fake vaccines after it was discovered during a routine inspection of pharmacies in the capital city, Niamey in March.

“We are raising an alert on the circulation of MencevaxTM ACWY and MencevaxTM ACW vaccines circulating in the Niger Republic.

“The Health Authorities of the Republic of Niger issued an alert on the fake vaccines discovered during routine inspections of the pharmacies in Niamey, Niger Republic, on 14th March 2019.

“The Lot number of the fake MencevaxTM ACW vaccine is AMEN A020 AA, while the Lot number of the fake MencevaxTM ACWY is AMEH A020 AA,” she said.

Adeyeye said that the fake vaccine had a manufacturing date of December 2016, and an expiring date of November 2021.

She said that the genuine vaccines used to control the outbreak of meningococcal infection were registered by NAFDAC in favour of Glaxo SmithKline Beecham (GSK), adding that Pfizer acquired the vaccines from GSK in 2015.

She warned importers and retailers of pharmaceutical products not to import or sell the fake vaccine.

“The fake MencevaxTM ACWY vaccine has a manufacturing date of December 2016 and an expiring date of November 2021.

“Genuine MencevaxTM ACW and MencevaxTM ACWY vaccines are used to control the outbreak of meningococcal infection.

“The genuine vaccines were registered by NAFDAC in favour of Glaxo SmithKline Beecham (GSK). Pfizer acquired the vaccines from GSK in 2015.

“NAFDAC implores all importers, wholesalers, and retailers not to illegally import, distribute and sell the fake Mencevax vaccines,” she said.

The NAFDAC boss said that Pfizer discontinued the sale of such vaccine in Nigeria in 2018, adding that NAFDAC had increased surveillance in all ports of entry to prevent the fake vaccine from entry into Nigeria.

“Pfizer Specialties Limited, 21 Lugard Avenue, Ikoyi Lagos discontinued commercialization of Mencevax Vaccines in Nigeria in June 2018.

“As a result of the discontinuation of commercialization of the vaccines, Pfizer Specialities Limited no longer import the vaccines into Nigeria.

“Surveillance has been strengthened by NAFDAC at all ports of entry to prevent importation of the fake vaccines from Niger Republic, and to prevent the distribution and sale of the fake vaccine,” she said.

Adeyeye, therefore, advised healthcare providers and other members of the public to be vigilant and contact the nearest NAFDAC office with any information on the fake vaccines.

She urged anybody in possession of the fake vaccines to submit such to the nearest NAFDAC office.

She also asked consumers to report adverse events related to the use of vaccines to the nearest NAFDAC office; via NAFDAC PRASCOR (20543 TOLL-FREE for all Network ) or via pharmacovigilance@nafdac.gov.ng.

HealthDefining Acceptance In A Digital Age by mayor007(op): 4:56pm On Nov 29, 2018
We all struggle with acceptance.

The irony of a time of endless networks, a time of multiple connection platforms is the feeling of rejection. And it’s not always a rejection that expresses itself in an outright NO. It is internal silence in a crowded, noisy room. It’s wishing that a ping carries with it a message of engagement, even if it’s gossipy information about someone else.

Social media and all its connections have created a world of needy people, wishing for external validation. Before I go on, I want to say; every day I fight the feelings too, even as mentally strong as I think I am. I’m very into leveraging social media because I do fitness and building a brand is very much ‘all that’ for success (eyes roll).

When I make a post, about a workout sesh, a poem, some type of muscle flex pose, I want to see engagement. And that comes in likes, retweets, comments and the like; the more in number, the better. This is the case with all of us. Researchers have said our brain literally gets a dopamine-like high when people interact with our posts online.

What this environment creates is an atmosphere of wanting others to like what we post. When that validation comes, we are happy. When it doesn’t, we feel like something must be wrong, even when there really isn’t. The fact itself means we let our moods be dictated by people’s reactions, not our own creation. And by giving people that power, most of whom are strangers, we become mentally maladjusted. And that crack in our defenses sooner becomes a gulf quicker than we expect.

A battered sense of self, self-pity, shyness, emotional turmoil, neediness, and even suicide may result. Yes, there are uncountable posts about self-love and all its magical benefits and they are true.

But self-love cannot exist without acceptance first. Unlike social media filters, acceptance demands you settle for the unflattering and by that, flatter its existence into the halls of recognition. To accept yourself is to fall in love with the most mundane parts of you, even if it falls short of the conventional definitions of what’s thought of as ‘esteemed.’

Acceptance manifests itself in work, not just recline. It’s not sitting back and saying, you know what, I speak rashly, so deal with it. It’s knowing your tongue works faster than your brain, recognizing the potential for damage and understanding it doesn’t define you. All the while, working to become a better version of you by speaking more thoughtfully.

Acceptance means owning your flaw while working to improve for you, not others. As the strongest will is formed in quiet, so acceptance is formed away from glaring eyes, social media posts, and public knowledge.

Time for self is not only invigorating, but it is also therapeutic. You get to work on loving the bits about yourself that people often don’t see. The sound of your name, the awkward way you dance, how your lips crook when you smile, your short hair, thick calves etc

Once you begin projecting an ‘I’m okay with all these parts of me’, the world jumps on the vibrations too. Guess what, you will no longer need to win another’s love because you already have yours.

PoliticsFellow Nigerians, Leave Jubril Alone And Focus by mayor007(op): 9:16am On Nov 21, 2018
Dear Nigerians,

Can i have your attention here, please?

Okay, now that we are together, let me make this clear.

You see this ‘Jubril from Sudan’ matter, if you are among those with even a smidgen of education – both formal and informal, that are now beginning to express some doubts as to if the person in Aso Rock is really President Muhammadu Buhari or a really expensive body double from Sudan, then permit me to inform you that you are part of the problem Nigeria has at the moment.

I must confess that I have easily profiled EVERYBODY who mouthed that assertion some time back and wondered if they couldn’t just focus on pertinent issues. But with what I can see now, the more than propaganda is left to continue to take hold, the more it runs wild. When this version of Jubril as postulated by Nnamdi Kanu resurfaced after a year and some weeks of total blackout, I was one of the first to declare that he is back on an obstruction mission. He is back to play distraction politics, the aim of which is not to openly campaign for Buhari, but to use the tool of ‘no elections’ to ensure mass boycott of the polls, inadvertently handing over a second term to Buhari.

We waited long and hard about that and the initial ‘no election’ stance was quickly abandoned for this present one that seems aimed at convincing us that President Buhari died in a London hospital and was replaced by a very expensive body double from Sudan. Everyone on social media is slowly getting used to all the ‘evidence’ and pictures surfacing from the stables of Radio Biafra, all of which have pictures of Buhari with circles around any and every part of his anatomy that catches the fancy of the originator of the memes.

Heights are compared.

Shape of nose is compared.

Ears are compared.

Stance is compared, you name it.

The questions on my mind have been: Are we insinuating that perhaps the mismanagement of the economy, bad governance experienced on a wide scale are the handiworks of a certain Jubril? What of turning a blind eye to the incessant killings by ‘Fulani Herdsmen”, opting, instead, to arrest locals that try to defend themselves or prevent an invasion in the first instance, also attributed to Jubril from Sudan? Do we also say that the myriads of other ills that the country is reeling under are taking place because it is not Buhari at the helm of affairs but a body double from Sudan?

Distraction politics.

How else can we begin to describe this to the increasing horde of hitherto rational humans that are now circulating hilarious memes with red arrows and circles covering the surface, all aiming to validate the existence of this body double? How do we ask you to stop and think? How do we tell you that these Jubril talk, barely three months to what history will note to be the most keenly contested elections in the history of Nigerian politics, is nothing but mere politics of distraction?

Should it even matter to us whether Buhari’s right ear in the ‘before’ meme matches the right ear in the ‘after’ meme? What should matter is whether the ear is deaf to the cries of the average Nigerian. So now, rather than chase after the main issues in the run up to the elections, we are chasing after Buhari’s ear shape, size and any notable defects!

Once again, I ask people to pause and think: where has Nnamdi Kanu been all these while? The last we saw of him, he was reportedly dodging a hail of bullets from the heavily armed Nigerian Army who had invaded his father’s palace in Afaraukwu. At that point in time, the most arms that Kanu and his people had were batons, tracts, and ‘bad mouth’. This was the arsenal they had to defend themselves with against armored tanks, tear gas and a hail of bullets.

RIP Jack the Dog.

After that, nothing was heard from Brother Kanu and his parents until Atiku Abubakar won the PDP presidential primaries. Again, this win was dismissed with the hope that Atiku would pick as his running mate, a South Westerner or a deeply flawed South Easterner. It was believed that the South East abhorrence of Buhari would deter them from ever voting for a Hausa-Fulani man in 2019, so it would be an easy coast to victory for the incumbent. That calculation held true until the master-stroke of a Peter Obi VP card was played with the subsequent groundswell of support for that choice.

If you all recall, whether the All Progressives Congress’ primaries held or not, no one knows or can remember any of the details. The real and virtual supporters of the party spent all their time ‘punditing’ for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and analyzing the PDP’s actions and choices.

Until the Peter Obi joker was played.

Enter Nnamdi Kanu to distract the now-focused Igbo Youth.

What is at stake, you ask?

Well, I don’t know. Perhaps if we know where Nnamdi Kanu’s parents are at the moment, we could eliminate them from the potential pawns being held up to force him to play this distraction politics.

Conspiracy theories?

*shrugs*

What is the ‘Jubril from Sudan’ angle, if not a very wild conspiracy theory designed to deflect attention from the more serious issues in the run up to the elections? I believe that Nnamdi Kanu is being blackmailed or paid off to distract the South Easterners from participating in the elections. When he tried the ‘no election’ tactics, a lot of voices rose against that and he has backed down.

Now, the focus is on ensuring that Nigerians – a disappointing number of Nigerians – leave the meat of the issues and focus on drawing circles around pictures taken in poor lighting.

Snap out of it, people.

Listen up: whether it is Jubril from Sudan, Hotep from Egypt, or Haile Selassie from Ethiopia, the most important point is that Nigerians are more interested in enjoying the dividends of democracy and good governance.

For now, focus.

Stop drawing circles and arrows and circulating funny ‘evidence’ pictures of a body double from Sudan.

Get your PVCs at the ready, and FOCUS…

PoliticsMinimum Wage: Why Nigerians Mistrust The Organized Labour by mayor007(op): 3:09pm On Nov 06, 2018
The indifference and apathy that greeted the warning strike called by the organized labour, the trade unions comprising the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the United Labour Congress (ULC), on Thursday, September 27, 2018, in order to press home their demands for an upward review of the national minimum wage from N18,000 to N56,000, was supposed to be a harbinger of how events will later unfold for labour in Nigeria.

The warning strike did not last up to the week it was meant to last before it was called off, partly because of the determination of the Federal Government (FG) to bring a speedy resolution to the issue and also due to the lukewarm attitude of the populace towards adhering to the industrial action.

Before the splintering of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) into different factions, the group has always had a chequered history with the Federal Government while Nigerians have always been circumspect of the true intentions of the labour leaders.

ISSUES BEDEVILLING THE POLITY
Any attempt to analyse the problems facing Nigeria may require volumes of books with practically every facet of the economy in a derelict and moribund state due to neglect over the years by successive governments which is why most Nigerians are not enamoured about the prospect of another industrial action when there are more pressing issues to be tackled.

The power sector, in particular, has been the cause of migraines over the years due to what seems to be an unresolvable problem for the problem.

The recent privatization of the sector has yet to yield any panacea to the problem with many Nigerians of the opinion this is the type of fight that should be championed by the organized labour.

From inflated power bills to the refusal of the distribution companies (DISCOS) to ensure the widespread installation of pre-paid meters, Nigerians should be forgiven if they don’t share the same ire towards the FG as the organized labour.

The education sector seems to be set up to ensure the gradual degradation of knowledge amongst the “leaders of tomorrow” with the nonchalance of the FG towards revamping the sector with the aim of putting the country amongst the comity of forward-thinking countries.

I remembered joking with a friend a couple of weeks back on whether we even have a Minister of Education; such is the rot and neglect riddled in that sector.

The issue of the humongous salaries and allowances drawn by the lawmakers is also an area the organized labour should seek a dialogue with the FG on due to the toll it takes on the budget of the country.

Part of the reasons why it may be very difficult for the organized labour to adequately tackle the issue is due to constitutional constraints with the approval of a majority of the lawmakers required before any changes can be affected.

On Monday, November 5, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embarked on an indefinite strike for the umpteenth time with the National President of the body, Biodun Ogunyemi, explaining the reason is to protest the poor funding of Nigerian universities and the alleged plan by the federal government to increase students fees and introduce an education bank.

Ogunyemi said, “The Nigerian government experimented with it for 7-8 years; it failed.

“So the government had to set up a ministerial committee at the federal executive council to go and wind up the national education banking plan in 2001/2002, something they started in 1993.

“So for seven to eight years, the experiment failed. Why did it fail? Government was not living up to its financial obligations towards the bank.

“There was widespread corruption, capacity of students to pay back the loan was not there, because there were no jobs and there are still no jobs.

“So you can imagine what will become of a bank that the loan equipment is not coming or is very low, the rate of payment is low or not coming.

“And we told them all of these but they went ahead to come up with the idea that well, we have calculated the cost of what we need to train an undergraduate and they have estimated that it will be N1 million that they will borrow from the bank.

“These students will borrow 1 million, but when they borrow, 70 per cent of it will be paid directly into the universities and 30 per cent will be given to students to maintain themselves. We smelt a rat.

“Why? Why are you insisting that students who do not have the capacity to pay should borrow and that this time around the money will not be given to them will be paid directly to universities irrespective of whether private or public.”

Just imagine a government shirking on its responsibilities to ensure the country has a functioning educational sector yet the organized labour was nowhere to be found during the interlude only to cry hoarse whenever the issue of a national minimum wage comes up.

It is perfectly understandable if millions of undergraduates from impoverished families are not exactly sympathetic to their cause.

THE MINIMUM WAGE ISSUE
It would amount to blatant disingenuousness to lampoon the organized labour for forcing the FG and various stakeholders of the tripartite committee without considering the various laws governing the issue and economic indices since the last review.

To be candid, the agitation by the NLC and affiliates for a new national minimum wage for Nigerian workers has merit.

Evidently, the current economic fundamentals do not favour continuing to keep the current N18,000 minimum wage approved since 2010.

Since 2015, the pay became due for another review in line with the provisions of the National Minimum Wage Act (amendment) 2011.

Whatever indices or parameters used to arrive at N18,000 in 2010 must have become grossly obsolete.

In 2011, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) data showed inflation at about 10.8 per cent, with the exchange rate of the Naira to the dollar averaged between N151.96 and N155.26.

The country’s gross domestic products (GDP) stood at about $411.7 billion and GDP growth rate at about 8.2 per cent.

In 2018, the NBS put inflation rate in the second quarter of the year at 11.23 per cent, with an exchange rate of Naira to the dollar at N306.25, or N362 in the parallel market. GDP is estimated at $375.77 billion since 2017, growing at the rate of 2.9 per cent.

To compute a minimum wage, consideration must be given to the prevailing cost of living index, inflationary trend and capacity of employers to pay a living wage.

According to Investopedia, a living wage refers to a theoretical wage level that allows an individual to afford adequate shelter, food and the other necessities.

A living wage should be substantial enough to ensure that no more than 30% of it gets spent on housing. The goal of a living wage is to allow employees to earn enough income for a satisfactory standard of living.

Therefore, in approving minimum wage, consideration must be given to all the essential needs of workers and their families but the FG does not consider all these which is baffling considering the poor state of the economy that necessitates an upward review of wages is caused by successive maladministrations.

The real issue in the minimum wage debate is no more whether the demand is necessary, but whether a wage of N18,000 is enough for workers to live in relative comfort.

Even the initial N56,000 figure proposed by the organized labour translates into a paltry N1,866 per day which is considerably less than what some countries pay their citizens as unemployment allowance.

IS THE DEMAND FOR N30,000 REALISTIC?
This question is especially pertinent since the organized labour disclosed 33 states out of the 36 states of the federation are owing various months arrears of salaries to their workers at N18,000 a month.

Not even the so-called oil-producing states that receive additional derivation revenues from the monthly federation account allocations have been able to meet this obligation.

The reason is that the economy has been struggling to stabilise, hardly able to assimilate further recurrent pressures, following its fragile recovery from one of its worst recessions in the country’s history in 2017.

Interestingly, the organized labour’s argument for a new minimum wage is based on the rising inflationary trend.

Regardless, the flipside of the argument has been that the demand for a new minimum wage at this time could fuel inflation in the economy.

Rather than demand for a very huge upward review that may spiral the economy into hyperinflation, the organized labour should demand increased investment in critical sectors of the economy and social amenities that usually take a sizeable chunk of their monthly salaries.

The FG should focus on the development of social infrastructures that take a large percentage of the workers’ salaries.

These include food production, by working with the universities and polytechnics to utilise their scientific research findings; incentivising the textile sector to produce clothes, providing low-income housing and affordable mass transportation.

As the populace awaits the new figure to be announced by the FG as the new national minimum wage, one can only hope it takes into cognizance the various factors bedevilling the average Nigerian worker.

PoliticsObi To Supporters: Don’t Make Trouble On My Behalf, Commits To Issues-based Camp by mayor007(op): 11:57am On Oct 26, 2018
The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 polls, Peter Obi, has charged his supporters not to attack or insult anybody on his behalf, distancing himself from any such undemocratic conduct.

He gave the charge in a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Valentine Obienyem on Thursday in which he aligned himself with the position of his boss, PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, that their campaign must be clean and based on issues.

The statement noted that “Peter Obi is an institution imbued with life. He performed well as the Governor of Anambra State and has been engaged in value-added pursuits since he left Government House.

“Since his work and records speak for him, we did not deem it compelling to hire anybody or group of persons to sing his praises. Everybody that writes about Peter Obi or comes to his defence does so out of conviction.”

Continuing, the statement said: “Now that we have a higher and nobler mission fate has called him to undertake, we appeal that no one should court crisis or attack anybody or group in the name of Peter Obi.

“The tasks ahead are enormous, and all hands are expected to be on deck in promoting his candidature and that of his principal. Indeed, our mission is enhanced because, in him, we have a good, valuable product to market.

“May we, therefore, use this opportunity to appeal to all those who support Peter Obi on social media platforms not to attack anybody or group, even those on the lunatic fringes.

“What we need most currently is to join hands to salvage Nigeria by propagating the ideals Atiku and Obi represent because we are certain they will work for the country.”

The statement warned that “anybody or group that go contrary to this message is on their own and must not be associated with Obi’s fans.”

“We are constrained to state this publicly because of failure of personal appeals we have been making on this matter.

“We must always bear in mind, as earlier pointed out, that internal cooperation is the first law of external competition,” the statement concluded.

LiteratureMusings: On Happiness And Other Trivial Things by mayor007(op): 12:46pm On Oct 25, 2018
I’ve always dreamed of happiness as many others have; it is to wake up one day and find myself in a magical world.

Maybe it would happen on my eighteenth birthday when I’d become an adult and my newfound powers would begin to grow or perhaps I’d be caught in a whirlwind adventure across worlds.

I was going to find magic and have real adventures and be someone that mattered.

I was going to escape reality.

It’s what it is, isn’t it? A desire to escape what we consider dull and what we consider dull typically is our own life. Perhaps it’s a desire to be different, to see something new, to be mystified and staying so rather than being given an answer or being able to Google it.

To Google is now a very real act. It is not to find an answer or solve a mystery. It is to browse a repertoire with any question and finding a guaranteed answer. Yes, there are still very real mysteries in our scientific universe but for concerns to the common man, there are typical answers. And that’s what kills us.

We wanted to escape to a world of wonder but find ourselves in a world where there is little wonder left. We seek higher and more abstracts meanings like the joy of an untouched forest after the rain, the beauty of small villages waking up and finding happiness in a world devoid of the urbanized chaos you’re accustomed to, or perhaps it’s the endless expanse of grass that rolls like a wave in the breeze.

We see these things but go back to our typical lives. We earn our keep by working a customary job, even a heart surgeon is something normal and expected, and then pay our bills whether they’re small or substantial, and we have our homes to keep regardless if modest or lavish.

And we tell ourselves: “One day, I’ll live in the world I want to live in. I’ll carve out my own slice of life just the way I like it”. We select the friends we have, the lovers we take, the decor and style we enjoy, the activities we wish to partake and then we begin to think that there has to be more.

PoliticsPDP: Obi Not Anti-north And Not Sponsoring IPOB by mayor007(op): 7:59am On Oct 25, 2018
Allegation aimed at denying Igbos Vice Presidency slot, says Spokesman
The allegation by the Northern Youths Leaders Forum (NYLF) that the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 elections, Peter Obi, is anti-North and a Major of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been described as diversionary and “an attempt to give the dog a bad name in other to hang it.”

Dismissing the allegation in a statement issued on Wednesday, Obi’s Special Adviser, Valentine Obienyem, described it as “baseless and unfounded”.

“The alleged ‘crimes’ exist only in the imagination of those making the ridiculous allegation. Peter Obi is a liberal and patriotic Nigerian who has never at any time conducted himself in a manner to suggest that he is either anti any ethnic group or a sponsor of any secessionist group,” Obienyem said.

He noted: “Immediately the Presidential flag bearer of the PDP, His Excellency, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, announced the choice of Peter Obi as his running mate, the joy was universal, hailing his preference as one of the best news coming out from our fatherland.

“All those that knew Obi very well for what he did in the past, both in his private business and governance of Anambra State and thereafter, wrote eulogies of him. Researchers went to work.

“After careful and painstaking analyses of his past, they submitted that he is humble, hardworking, knowledgeable about the economy, aware of the myriad of problems of the country, detribalised and possessed of centripetal notion about the unity of the country.

“Any person truthful to himself would agree that never in the history of Nigeria did naming of running mates elicited comparable reactions.”

Obienyem also pointed out, “Since leaving office, Obi has been busy visiting schools all over the country, from Cross River to Sokoto. Obi has been busy diagnosing the problems of the country and offering solutions.

Obi has been busy preaching the unity of the country and how good governance will solve the problems in Nigeria, caused by cumulative years of leadership failure that makes the protest under review suspicious and, in fact, an attempt to give the dog a bad name in other to hang it.”

Obienyem further described the unfounded allegation as diversionary, saying: “We do not need such a distraction now. What we need is joining of hands together as we collectively seek solutions to our problems.”

He noted that by advising Atiku to drop Obi and pick a running mate from the South-South, “the NYLF betrayed its real agenda, which is to deny Ndigbo the opportunity to produce Nigeria’s Vice President in 2019.”

He also said the sinister agenda has already failed and urged Nigerians “to continue to give their full support to the Atiku Abubakar/Peter Obi ticket, the only real hope available to Nigerians in the 2019 presidential elections.”

He assured Obi’s fans and supporters that the former Anambra State Governor would continue to live an exemplary life and would never engage in any conduct capable of bringing shame to himself or all those who believe in him and hold him in high esteem.

LiteratureMusings: The Society Of Freedom, And Why We Are Not Free by mayor007(op): 3:40pm On Oct 24, 2018
The concept of freedom make people giddy to their bellies but does it really mean what we think it means?

Some people say our country is still better than most despite the challenges being faced by the Nigerian populace. For starters, the majority of us exercise our franchise during an election period and we are pretty much allowed to do as we please as far as it is within the confines of the law, right?

Not quite.

Now, we can spend time punching holes into the two aforementioned examples, but we won’t waste time here because that isn’t the crux of the argument.

First off, what is freedom?

Like most researchers are wont to do, we had to consult the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary to get a clear meaning of the word Freedom and we came up with this definition:

“Freedom is the quality or state of being free: as in the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action”.

Finally, a dictionary we can argue with!

Now read and cogitate on that definition. Does that apply to your life? Is your life completely absent of necessity, coercion, or constraint in your choices or actions? Do you have total freedom for every minor necessity? Is anybody free to make any choice or take any action they so, please?

The irony of the concept of freedom is that it is tied to our basic needs to survive.

CrimeXenophobia: 9 Nigerians' Properties Burnt In South Africa by mayor007(op): 3:14pm On Oct 22, 2018
The ugly trend of xenophobia resurfaced in South Africa on Sunday as nine Nigerians suffered from the loss of properties due to attacks from arsonists in Central Johannesburg.

The Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Union in South Africa, Habib Miller, told media sources on the telephone on Monday suspected South Africans unleashed mayhem on unsuspecting Nigerian shop-owners in the precinct.

Miller stated the body already relayed the information to the Nigerian Mission in South Africa and they await their response to the ugly development.

He said, “Nine Nigerian businesses have been looted and burnt. The incident began on Sunday and continued till Monday, October 22.

“Businesses affected range from restaurants, internet cafe, bar, groceries and stores.

“At the time of the incident, electricity in the area was cut off. One of the businesses affected is owned by Mr C.J. Ubah, a bar owner at Fife Street”.

He continued by appealing to the local police to come to the rescue of Nigerians by safeguarding their lives and properties.

“The union is monitoring the situation. We have not received any report of casualty on any Nigerian, but the situation is still tense because there are fears that the looting will resume in the night.

“We have also advised Nigerians in the area to adopt safety measures by being alert,’’ Miller said.

Not less than 184 Nigerians have been murdered in different xenophobic attacks between 2016 and 2018 in South Africa, based on various media reports.

PoliticsOshiomhole: APC Plotting My Removal – Embattled Chairman Cries Out by mayor007(op): 10:50am On Oct 22, 2018
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole has cried out over the plot by some leaders of the party to remove him with the main aim of passing a vote of no confidence on him.

In a statement by his Press Secretary, Simon Ebegbulem, Oshiomhole made this declaration in Abuja on Sunday stating, “This is the overarching mission of the national working committee, NWC, of the party under his leadership”.

The statement reads:

“The totality of Unagha’s claims, without necessarily addressing them one after the other, tallies with cooked-up narratives being sponsored by some influential stakeholders in their respective states that Comrade Oshiomhole is responsible for all the problems in the APC at the moment.

“These influential stakeholders, according to grapevine, have begun to mobilise to pass a no-confidence vote in the leadership of Oshiomhole, having failed to impose their preferred candidates on the party in the nomination process”.

“Comrade Oshiomhole did not become national chairman of the governing party to bring it down a notch from the pedestal of its 2015 electoral victory let alone to preside over its liquidation.

“Rather, his single-minded goal, from the outset of his declaration of interest in the position, was to deploy his capacity in helping to strengthen and reposition the party as a truly supreme and disciplined political entity.

“Although, it might appear fortuitous to some persons that he became national chairman at the threshold of the 2019 general election; the truth is that there is no accident in predestination.

“We must appreciate the fact that it has pleased the Almighty God to place him in the saddle of APC leadership at this time for a purpose.

“The purpose has begun to manifest in its vast flourish and ramifications: instilling discipline, ensuring party supremacy, promoting due process, dealing with impunity and executive arrogance wherever they manifest to undermine intra-party electoral processes in the states.

“From the outset, we never expected that those who cherished and supported the status quo, which Comrade Oshiomhole supplanted, would cave in easily under the magnitude of the current political revival that he spearheads.

“Indeed, while the progressives are enamoured of change, the conservatives find it difficult to embrace it. That is the current reality in the deliberate effort to rebrand the APC.

“Again, we were not, in the least, deluded that the process of rebranding or rewriting the narrative of the four-year-old party would be easy. What we are witnessing in the APC today is Comrade Oshiomhole’s adroit management of the strains and pains that accompany the birth of a resuscitated governing party.

“The leadership provided in the recently-held primary elections and the large-scale integrity of the processes are developments that should hence serve as exemplars in the administration of governing parties.

“Indeed, the message therein is very clear that the party, and not pseudo political empires in the states, has the power to superintend the primary elections for the nomination of the party’s candidates in the general election.

“While the party will not surrender its functions, which are constitutionally circumscribed, to any other entities, it will always be ready to moderate the divergent tendencies and mediate the disparate political camps in the interest of party cohesion.

“This is one of the hardnosed truths that the Comrade Oshiomhole-led NWC preaches and practises with an apostolic zeal to the chagrin of some influential stakeholders in the states.

“Comrade Oshiomhole envisions an APC that is capacitated to pragmatically build a corpus of leadership and membership that do not only submit to the high ideal of party supremacy but also the credo of party discipline.

“These-party supremacy and discipline- are two fundamentals that had been eroded even before the emergence of the Oshiomhole leadership.

“It is sad that while the national chairman is working round the clock, some stakeholders have thrown selfish political agendas into the mix to threaten the building of institutional capacity for the APC.

“Rather than resort to needless perfidy at the threshold of a general election, we call on them to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship, bolstered by the fact that the Oshiomhole leadership is propelled more by its interest in propriety in which victory for the party could be grounded.

“The crime committed by Comrade Oshiomhole’s leadership is its disdain for impunity and circumvention of due process perpetrated in some of the states at the pleasure of some influential stakeholders.

“Overall, Comrade Oshiomhole has not, since stepping in the saddle, taken any unilateral decision in the running of the party affairs.

“All decisions, so far taken, passed through the mills of NWC deliberative sessions and enjoyed unanimous resolutions. The records are there. History will justify Comrade Oshiomhole and posterity will vindicate him.

“Therefore, with eyes firmly fixed on the general election, especially the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the scheduled February 16 poll, Comrade Oshiomhole assures all stakeholders in the APC of his respect for them. He assures them of his readiness to work with them for the good of the party.

“The comrade chairman also proposes a common front in the general election and believes that the APC, as a governing party, will do a commemorative post-mortem next year to appraise and reappraise the political developments and decisions that presaged the election, which it would win emphatically”.

Nice list, but it's lacking in science and history.
Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoevsky are among my favourite authors. "A Tale Of Two Cities" by Charles Dicken is a criminally underrated book too.

@lexiconkabir

It's people like you that make people believe islaam is a radical religion.....

You have been hammering on that same Hadith since, bit you didn't even see mine that is also in saheeh al-bukhari....

Even if saheeh buhari is the most authentic source of Hadith, it would still have some weak and fabricated Hadith, remember bukhari is a human being prone to error...

The prophet has once said that anyone who drags his lower garment, that portion is in the fire, but there are other Hadith which clearly states that rasuulullah dragged his lower garment, would he now enter the fire?? Subhaanallah!!!!!

The Quran clearly stated "no compulsion in religion" this is the word of God here, so why hammering on one Hadith for Allah's sake.....

My brother rilwayne also quoted lots of verses, but u still dey hammer on one Hadith, chaaaaii
He is probably amongst those sects who even believe in the superiority of The Hadith to The Qur'an. His posts just make me wanna projectile-vomit.
