Phones / How To Identify An Original Power Bank by mayorkun(m): 7:34am On Sep 26, 2017
Having a powerbank is very useful and good but problem may arise when you buy or have a fake one which can cause hazard to your phone by damaging it or the battery or even catch fire and in the process destroy your phone or tablet.

So today i will help you in identifying the original and fake power Bank especially here in Nigeria where we have so many fake power banks and also give you the best power Bank to buy right here in Nigeria.

How To Identify a fake Powerbank

The first and foremost in identifying a fake power Bank is if the powerbank has a brand name. When buying a powerbank, check if it has a brand name cause many powerbanks especially those sold here in Nigeria doesn't have a brand name instead what will be written on it will be POWER BANK. When you such one don't buy it's a fake power Bank and might damage your phone. Fake powerbank comes with a fake capacity like for example you see a powerbank written 50000mAh but charges a phone or tablet battery of 2500mAh just once or twice. Such Power Bank is confirmed fake one and if you continue using it, know that on the long run it will damage your phone or tablet. Most fake power Banks especially the ones sold here usually have a very high capacity written on it like for example a power Bank capacity being 50000Mah,100000mAh or even 30000mAh. Most of them are fake though some might be original but as long as it's here in Nigeria, it's confirmed fake don't buy.
How To Identify An Original powerbank

1. Original power Bank comes with a brand name.
2. It doesn't have exergerated high capacity like 30000mAh,50000mAh,100000mAh etc. 3. The charging capacity tallies with what it is written on it depending on your battery capacity too

Foreign Affairs / Trump Slams New Travel Restrictions On 8 Countries by mayorkun(m): 10:36am On Sep 25, 2017
The Trump administration has unveiled new travel restrictions on certain foreigners from Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen.

The new restrictions on travel vary by country.

“Making America Safe is my number one priority. We will not admit those into our country we cannot safely vet,” President Donald Trump tweeted after his administration released the details of the restrictions Sunday night.

In a statement, the White House called the new restrictions a “critical step toward establishing an immigration system that protects Americans’ safety and security in an era of dangerous terrorism and transnational crime.”

“We cannot afford to continue the failed policies of the past, which present an unacceptable danger to our country,” Trump was quoted as saying.

“My highest obligation is to ensure the safety and security of the American people, and in issuing this new travel order, I am fulfilling that sacred obligation.”

For the last three months, the administration used an executive order to ban foreign nationals from six Muslim-majority countries from entering the US unless they have a “bona fide” relationship with a person or entity in the country.

They are Iran, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, and Sudan.

Individuals with that “bona fide” exception – such as a foreign grandparent of a US citizen – can still apply for visas until October 18. After that date, the new restrictions on travel will begin.

Foreign nationals from North Korea are banned, but a student from Iran will be allowed in, subject to “enhanced screening and vetting requirements.”
However, no current validly issued green cards, visas or travel documents will be revoked.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a statement that with the new restrictions, “the President is carrying out his duty to protect the American people.”

“The State Department will coordinate with other federal agencies to implement these measures in an orderly manner,” Tillerson said.

“We will continue to work closely with our allies and partners who share our commitment to national and global security.”

Crime / Nigerian Army Troops Arrest 34 Hoodlums, Recover 12 Guns In South-east by mayorkun(m): 10:23am On Sep 25, 2017
The Nigerian Army has arrested 34 suspected cult members, kidnappers, and hoodlums in the ongoing Operation Python Dance II in the south-east.
Troops were said to have carried out some raids in Imo, Anambra and Abia States, where the arrests were made.

Recovered during the raids were locally made pistols and five Dane guns.

According to Punch, the army arrested 17 suspects in Obinze community in Imo while seven were arrested in the Ukukwa North Local Government Area of Anambra.

It was gathered that 10 suspected cult members were also arrested during two operations on Awara and Assa communities in the Ohaji-Egbema LGA of Imo.

The army said that another group of three kidnap suspects – identified as Arinze Ugiri, 39, Okezie Nwobolo, 30, and Michael Sunday, 24 – were arrested from a hideout in Abia State.

The suspects were reportedly handed over to the police after the initial questioning.

Confirming the arrests, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, and 82 Division spokesman, Colonel Sagir Musa, said the "outlawed IPOB members and their sympathisers" were also stopped from extorting money from traders and motorists in Aba.

Sports / PSG Offer Cavani €1million To Hand Over Penalty Duties To Neymar by mayorkun(m): 10:15am On Sep 25, 2017
Edinson Cavani has turned down a €1million bonus in exchange for conceding Paris Saint-Germain’s penalties to Neymar, according to El Pais.

Cavani would receive the bonus for finishing the season as Ligue 1’s top goalscorer.

However, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, has reportedly offered to pay out that sum, whether or not he finishes atop the scoring charts. Only on the condition that he surrenders penalty duties to his Brazilian team-mate.

Al-Khelaifi is also understood to have sent representatives to convince Neymar to drop the dispute, explaining that the world’s most expensive footballer, should allow Cavani take penalties to maintain his confidence up front.

However, the former Barcelona forward apparently did not agree with that logic.

Phones / Why You Should Put Password On Your Phone - Techknowng.com by mayorkun(m): 7:07am On Sep 25, 2017
It is time to get rid of the notion that using a password for your devices means you have something to hide. This will help prevent sensitive data like banking and account details, social security details, corporate email information etc. from being unnecessarily compromised.

1. To Avoid Pocket Dialing

Pocket dialing, especially for smartphones and even basic phones, can be humorous or annoying, but most annoyingly because your airtime is being wasted without your knowledge. Here, a preloaded phone number can be dialed when a person has a phone in the rear pocket and sits on it, or if the phone gets ‘jostled’ in a purse or briefcase. This occurrence will be reduced, if not eliminated, if your device was locked with a passcode.

2. To Protect Your Private Information

Symantec, a leading security software maker, conducted an experiment to encourage smartphone users to protect their private information. In the experiment, a phone was loaded with fake password, banking information, emails and photos, and a tracking software was installed on it to monitor what people will do with the phone when found. At the end of the experiment, the result showed 72 per cent looked through photos, 57 per cent checked out saved passwords and 43 per cent accessed the phone’s online banking app.

3. To Prevent Unwanted Prying Into Your Business

This goes without saying. Nosy friends, partners or family members who want to know about ‘every and anything’ you are doing, will have a field day with your ‘password – unprotected’ device. To protect your privacy and avoid unbelievably embarrassing and awkward scenarios, it’s best to password your device and encourage these friends, partners or family members to simply ask you questions about whatever they want to know.

4. To Monitor Others’ Use of Your Device

This is important especially if you have children that like to play with your devices. In the process of moving from one game app to another, children can keep your device running without rest till your battery runs down, regardless of the power situation. Also, without a password, a child can easily pick up your device and while looking for their favourite app, mistakenly rearrange, hide or delete sensitive information on your phone.

5. In Case of Theft

Theft is a sudden and unexpected occurrence. You don’t exactly see it coming. In the case of the theft of your device, it will be better for you if there is a security lock on your device. This is because it gives you some time to inform your bank and other relevant institutions about the theft, before the thief is able to use personal data gotten from your device(s) against you. For some devices like the iPhone, once your device is stolen and it’s password-protected, it’s easier to remotely lock and wipe it.

Science/Technology / Steps To Take Before Creating A Website - Techknowng by mayorkun(m): 10:35am On Sep 22, 2017
There are numerous reasons people create a website

The website can be a way to show the world what you can do, or show the World your product and services or even want to make a little change like me.
1. Choosing A Domain Name

The domain name is your website’s address on the web so choose a good one that is:
Descriptive: Choose a domain name that describes what your website is about at a glance. Techknowng.com is a good example so let's break it into pieces, the TECH in the domain name specifies that the website is about technology and the KNOW makes it clear that technology is being preached on the site, and the last part of it is the NG, this finishes the targeting, it tells that the website is Nigerian. So if you are choosing a domain name make sure it points directly to what you do .
2.Keep it short and simple : Domains with long name are easily forgotten, the best way to lure your readers to come back is keeping your domain name simple and short, this way they can remember your site easily.
2. Buying Your Web Hosting

A web hosting provider rents out web space to domain owners while domain registrars sells domain names. Many companies offer both hosting and domain name.

There are also important things to consider before buying a host:
Bandwidth : This is the amount of data your website can transfer to the internet and the amount of data your website can receive, bandwidth usage are measured in Gigabytes and Megabytes. Some hosting providers offers unlimited hosting.
Uptime: Uptime is the amount of time the server your hosting provider is up and running . Any hosting provider can go down sometimes but you want to find a provider with very little downtime so visitors can almost always see your website.
Security : Make sure to understand that your hosting provider have extra measures taken to ward off attacks by hackers. Find out how they have moved to secure your data and the data of people using your site.
Support : You should look for a responsive hosting company, the company that answers your query fast, that's why I used the word responsive. Your hosting company should be able to reply you within a very short time when you conatect them about issues concerning your account.
Price: Hosting providers charge a wide range of prices; some are even free. You need to balance how much you're willing to pay with the services you’ll receive in return.
Ease of use: Make sure you use the hosting company that it's user platform is very easy to use.
3. Determine Your Audience

Like a person once told me, unless you put your content forward to people then be ready to read your post yourself. Understanding your audience is very essential in creating a website. You have to write posts according to the domain name you chose. A fashion blogger shouldn't be writing about technology, only post about what you specialise in.
4. Structuring Your Site

The key to creating a good site is the quality of the post you write. A good post makes readers come back for more. A good post should be :

Useful and informative : If you are creating a site for a restaurant, the hour of service, location, what you offer and means of contact should be included in the post.
More valuable and useful than other sites: If you write about how to train a dog, make sure your article provides more value or a different perspective than the numerous articles on the web on dog training.
Quality and uniqueness : When writing posts your content should be unique and true. This is also another way to rank well in search engines.
Be careful of things that can make visitors not trust your site or leave: e.g Errors such as broken links or wrong information, grammar or spelling mistakes, excessive amount of ads Spam such as comment or forum spam.

Sharing is caring, share this post to family and friends

Donald Trump's car seem to be more complicated than we thought, his car labelled with the name BEAST for all its insanely cool features. The car Beast is INDESTRUCTIBLE.

1. Door ; The door is Armor Plated, eight inches thick and the weight of a cabin door on a Boeing 757 jet .

When the door is closed it forms a 100% seal to prevent the president from a chemical attack penetrating through the door.

2. Tyres; The Tyres are kevlar-reinforced, shred and puncture resistant with steel rims underneath enabling the tyres to escape even the tyres are punctured and flat.

3. Rear Window; The rear window have a five inches layer of glass and poly-carbonate which can withstand armour piercing bullets.

4. Fuel tank; Filled with a foam that prevents it from exploding in case of a direct hit.

5. Boot ; Firefighting systems, tear gas and smoke screen dispenser

Phones / Iphone X, Is It Worth The Price Or Just An Overrated Piece Of Metal by mayorkun(m): 6:17pm On Sep 19, 2017
Apple released a different specie of IPhone during it's last annual ceremony the IPhone X which was held last week tuesday in the Steve Jobs hall, and it got a lot of people talking.

The phone features an edge-to-edge OLED display and a $999 price tag. We don't know how the price tag will affect other apple IPhone products but just as usual IPhone will be getting a lot of sale based on surveys. The IPhone X have already received numbers of criticism from smartphone lovers and the fact that it malfunctioned on the launching date is another fact we shouldn't ignore. The question now is that "Is The IPhone X An Overrated Smartphone " .

"Is The IPhone X An Overrated Smartphone "

Let's take a look at some of the features

1. The edge-to-edge OLED screen

The feature that makes the IPhone X stand out is it's edge-to-edge OLED screen display. Apple was quite excited about the edge-to-edge OLED display during it's launch, but this feature has obviously been on Android phones for quite a while. It's been available on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Xiaomi Mi Mix and a couple of other Android devices so there's no reasonable way I'm spending a thousand dollars on a feature I can get for less on other devices.

2. Facial Recognition Software

This is like the most annoying part of the IPhone X, the facial recognition system. I'm okay with the fact Apple tried to come up with something new but the question now is will the IPhone X facial recognition system be able to recognize ladies when they're on makeups, fixed eyelashes or users in general when they have an injury anywhere on their face. Probably not, so you will be left with a device that only recognize you when you have a straight face, I'd advice you not to buy something like that.

3. The iPhone X is expensive. very expensive

One of the noticeable aspects of the iPhone X perhaps more noticeable than its display is its price tag. Apple has set the starting cost for its flagship product at $1,000 If you include taxes and the 256GB storage configuration. The device is even more expensive outside the US — customers in Italy, Russia, and Poland, for instance, will all have to pay around $1,600 for a 256GB version of the iPhone X

Generally, I feel the IPhone X is an overrated phone, it shouldn't be this expensive because all the features that Apple has claimed is new are not new, they all have been on Android phones, I mean affordable ones. But the IPhone X comes with an apple logo at the back of it so I expect the logo alone to be worth more than $400.
Micheal Ajah of Naijatechguy.com have a similar opinion tho about the IPhone X, so don't think I'm being segmental.

Alright a couple of days ago, Apple launched the new iPhone X alongside the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus cleverly skipping the iPhone 9.

Like most Apple devices, the iPhone X broke the bank, costing over £999 (that's basically almost N400,000 in my currency )

Me right now.. Trying to figure out how N400k can change someone's life

I'll be quite honest I can't see any ground breaking feature on the iPhone X.
I
Is it the Design?

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 obviously does better.

No Physical Home Button?
Yeah.. Probably because Samsung ditched theirs

Yeah they dumped the head phone jacks for Airpods?

I'm not trying to be a cheapskate but why should anyone get wireless headphones that cost $159 (N60,000). I'd rather get a quality headset (Beats By Dr Dre). And what happens if one gets missing?

It has secure Face ID that can only be wrong one in a million times?

Did you watch the iPhone X launch at the Apple Headquarters in Cupertino. Face ID couldn't unlock the phone. I guess that was the one in a million times they meant. Apple didn't tell us what happens if identical twins try to unlock one phone.I guess the passcode is just a secure way to bypass the whole debacle.
Samsung comes with Iris Scanning and Fingerprint Scanning.

Dual Camera Setup and Wireless Charging ?
I shouldn't be saying this but you know they're not the first to do this. There's totally nothing new here.

A lot of us expected Apple to add the touch ID beneath the screen but they never did. Vivo actually beat them to that feature.

With all the smartphones available in the world, I'd say it's really unwise for anyone waste $1,000 for stolen, exaggerated, reused and almost useless features.

Apple has always been trying to sabotage Samsung and the entire Android OS. The iPhone X’s screen is quite inferior to that of the S8 in terms of pixel density and brightness and they had the nerve to market it as "the future of smartphones".

Seriously "$1000" for a smartphone is daylight robbery. You can even get any affordable smartphone with similar features for less than that price.

Apple definitely has a very strong marketing scheme that causes people to go crazy over them.

I don't know how they do it, but congrats to them but I'd rather not fork out $1000 for a new smartphone.

You'd think Apple would listen to people and fix a lot of things on their Anniversary device to mark the end of a decade since the existence of the iPhone but "No", they're try to take our eyes off what they've not done.

1.You still can't install Apps outside the Apple Store

2. It's still difficult transferring files between Computers (Not Macs) and iPhones without iTunes

3. The Accessories Are Still Expensive

4. Users still don't have total control of customization

Apple makes massive profits from their devices due to the monopoly they enjoy from their O.S and its actually becoming something else.

It is impossible to trick the iPhone 8 facial recognition

This is how difficult Apple says it is to trick the iPhone X facial recognition system 0.000001

Only 1 in 1,000,000 would be able to unlock an iPhone X by having a face that is similar to a phone’s owner.
