Look at him in that third to last picture on campaign train through Bayelsa with Amaechi. Do you recognise the outfit, and the hat? You see how well Buhari fit and model the attire? On Jonathan the style look ridiculous and comical....yet this is so called Ijaw ethnic outfit. How come a Fulani wears it better than a soil of the soil? Even in fashion, Jonathan remains "clueless"! ![]() |

safarigirl:Why are you troubled, you don't want to be associated with Easterners ![]() |
GBTYO:Ode, the Obas have told him to take his message to the people and stop bothering them. Why does he keep returning to them? 6 visits to Yorubaland alone in 4 weeks, haba!!! Meanwhile zero town hall meeting in all his 6 visits. |
all4naija:How did bokoharam get Nigerian Army weapons? Go ahead and answer that.... |
Nigerdeltaboi:They came under bokoharam attack and were killed. The South African mercenaries protect credibility and reputation by denying vulnerability and upholding invicibility. They are rag tag soldiers with superior firepower, thats all! In modern wars firepower is what defines your strength and superiority. In Somalia, the same Lontz and his comrades withdrew after fierce battle with Al Shabbab who continously decimated them. Lontz went in there with some mercenaries from an American war contractors....they lost so many men that they gave up and pulled out. There is no magic to South African mercenaries beside the point that our President is "clueless" and didnt know that if he armed Nigerian Army with a higher grade assault ammo than boko uses, our Army would have the upper hand and equally be regarded as fierce and fearsome. Beside, has Jonathan and his advisers not studied the history of insurgency around the world and know that injection of mercenaries into sovereign soil is an invitation for prolonged war? Bloody "clueless" Jonathan! |
From John Campbell - Council On Foreign Relations With the detailed March 13 New York Timesstory on the presence of mercenaries in Nigeria, further comment is required. The image of white mercenaries atop armed personnel carriers and flying helicopter sorties against Africans is a throw-back to apartheid days. During those days, mercenaries were used to fight against the liberation movements in southern Africa. As during apartheid times, there is more than a whiff of the clandestine about the mercenary activity in Nigeria’s Borno state. According to the Times, the mercenaries are housed in a remote corner of the Maiduguri airport, mostly operate at night, clearing Boko Haram operatives from a specific area, which is then occupied by Nigerian troops after daybreak. Nigerian military commanders have insisted that the foreigners are technical advisors, and at a briefing in Washington, D.C. earlier in the week, two senior Nigerian officials made no reference to the mercenaries’ presence. The apartheid associations do not seem to be lost on the Pretoria government, which has reiterated that mercenary activity by any South African is illegal, and that participants will be arrested if they return. It also is credible that the mercenaries will be successful in the short-term in Borno state, as they have been before. However, it is unlikely that they will destroy Boko Haram, which will melt into the countryside and the slums of cities. As in 2009 when Mohammed Yussuf and hundreds were killed by the security services, Boko Haram will regroup and come back to fight another day. This is comparable to Mali in 2012, when foreign mercenaries assisted in suppressing the Tuareg rebellion, only to be faced by more warfare and rebellions shortly after having claimed success. A short-term victory does not guarantee long-term resolve. But, with respect to the national elections of March 28, the Abuja government will be able to say that voting is now possible in a large number of territories once occupied by Boko Haram. For many years after independence, and especially after the conclusion of the 1967-70 civil war, the Nigerian government was strongly nationalistic. It vigorously asserted its sovereignty, and its position as a growing hegemonic power in West Africa. Now, in addition to mercenaries ostensibly driving the government efforts against Boko Haram, Chadian, Nigerien, and even Cameroonian troops are active on Nigerian territory. As recently as the administration of Umaru Yar’Adua, this would have been unimaginable. The Times quotes the distinguished American scholar Paul Lubeck as saying that this episode marks “the destitution of Nigerian nationalism.” Indeed, it does. That it is happening now is a sign of the collapse of Nigeria’s military–once the guarantor of the Nigerian state, and demonstrates the impotence of the Abuja government in the face of the Boko Haram threat. Such desperate times for Abuja require the desperate measures of bringing in mercenaries and allowing foreign troops to operate on Nigerian soil. |
Mercenaries Join Nigeria’s Military Campaign Against Boko Haram By ADAM NOSSITER MARCH 12, 2015 DAKAR, Senegal — Hundreds of mercenaries from South Africa and other countries are playing a decisive role inNigeria’s military campaign against Boko Haram, operating attack helicopters and armored personnel carriers and fighting to retake towns and villages captured by the Islamist militant group, according to senior officials in the region. The Nigerian government has not acknowledged the presence of the mercenaries, but a senior government official in northern Nigeria said the South Africans — camped out in a remote portion of the airport in Maiduguri, the city at the heart of Boko Haram’s uprising— conducted most of their operations at night because “they really don’t want to let people know what is going on.” He said the mercenaries’ role was crucial, part of a new offensive against Boko Haram after a nearly six-year insurrection. The Nigerian military, under pressure because of a presidential electionto be held this month, has recently claimed a string of successes against Boko Haram, boasting about the recapture of a number of towns. The mercenaries “are in the vanguard in the liberation of some of the communities,” the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals. A mild tussle ensued on Wednesday at a special briefing in Washington DC when members of an American pre-election mission disputed claims by two Nigerian security chiefs that their delegation endorsed postponement of the elections. Giving updates on preparations for the re-scheduled elections, Ambassador Ayodele Oke, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, and Rear-Admiral Gabriel E. Okoi, Director of Defence Intelligence, said the Nigerian government has overcome most of the security and logistic problems that led to the postponement of the election. Mr. Oke said the election delay was occasioned by incidences of criminal violence, widespread tension and Boko Haram insurgency, which were occurring in tandem with considerable shortfall in the electoral calendar. “INEC was having challenges with regards to the distribution of permanent voter cards (PVCs)”, he said, “while another important tool, the card reader machine were not fully yet tested and deployed” across the country. Speaking on the insurgency, Mr. Okoi confirmed that Boko Haram effectively controlled 14 local government areas in the run-up to February 14, the day elections were scheduled to commence. The terrorists’ threat virtually preempted any form of electoral activity in the occupied areas, the intelligence chiefs said. “Consequently INEC, after robust consultation with key stakeholders, deferred the elections by six weeks in accordance with constitutional provisions” Re-emphasizing the gravity of the conditions that led to the decision to postpone the elections, Mr. Oke said that “that when the election was postponed, the NDI and IRI who are both on the ground issued a joint statement which corroborated and gave fuller explanation as to the reason why INEC took the decision it took,” adding that the statement is on their website. But speaking after the security chiefs’ presentations, representatives of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI), who were present at the event, took an exception to Nigerian officials’ representation of their statement. Former US assistant secretary of state for African Affairs, Ambassador George Moose, said “nothing in the statement justified postponement”. Mr. Moose led the eight-person joint pre-election assessment mission that visited Nigeria January 15-20, this year. He said while the delegation’s statement recounted the prevailing conditions of the electoral process and specific challenges to the polls, it did not recommend any change to the electoral calendar. On the contrary, the delegation expressed “concern that postponement would increase post-election risks”. Other members of the NDI, IRI delegation spoke in the same vein. They said Jonathan sponsored Ekiti rigging. The "clueless" spoke in denial of involvement. They said he used King of Morroco to curry favor and divide citizens along religious line. The "clueless" spoke and said he had no knowledge of it. They said he offered Tinubu a ING position to weaken opposition. The "clueless" one spoke and said he believes in democracy. In two weeks we shall speak! We shall raise our conscience and speak in denial of the "clueless". Just wait... |
These are no fvckng Chadian Armies...these are Darfur mercenaries imported to face off with bokoharam. We brought in snakes to treat the infestation of rodents. How will you chase the snakes out after rats are no longer a problem? Jonathan don multiply our problems now. |
aljharem:Jimi is a novice in constitutional roles, he is confused on the duty of a Governor as an Executive. He has no business visiting the scene of a robbery. Armed robbery is not a social calamity and not a security threat....it is an act of lawlessness and crime. Police is responsible for restoring law and order in an act of this kind. It seems "cluelessness" flows from top to bottom in PDP. Eko o gba gbere....Lagos no be for mumu people. Do not vote "clueless" Agbaje in. Just like his mentor Jonathan, he is confused! |
Why is a governor aspirant visiting scene of robbery, for what ![]() This political rookie is just like GEJ...."clueless"! vote AMBODE! |
Eeyah, Adekunle is dead...now Ibo get mouth to form a marine commando. Bloody COWARDS, why not try it when he was alive? ![]() |
Mynd44:Since 1840 the Lagos Kingship hs always been a hotbed of rivalry amongst descendants of Ado. Divination settled on Akiolu but Erelu believed the treaty of 1860 had given ownership of the throne and the palace solely to the Dosunmu line. Anyway, long story in that one ...but to cut it short, so they recruited outside influence to disqualify Akiolu. Obasanjo and Erelu put weight on the kingmakers to find someone else - from Dosunmu lineage. Iyaloja got involved, her son got involved, Ladoja Adele got involved...Awujale got involved and their efforts paid off against President and Erelu. Akiolu sailed through the selection process. This is what Barcanista referred when he said Tinubu made him King. Nobody made him King...he was the one Ifa divined. Beside....same exact scenario happened to Akintoye in 1845 and Iyalode of Egba, Madame Tinubu played a part in that episode. |
Mynd44:Exactly! Obanikoro, IBB and OBJ, these three people turned him against PDP. |
barcanista: ![]() Your own spin sef HOT pass Okupe own. |
barcanista:Oba Akiolu, Awujale, The Egba Obas, The Ooni council that knighted Jonathan last week.......all are broadly in same position and their actions and statements, whether individually or collectively, is not contradictory to the conclusion just given by Awujale; in that Obas will not tell their domain and people who to vote for. They will give honor to Jonathan, they will honor Buhari...but they believe Jonathan is wasting his and their time by repeatedly visiting one palace after another nudging theKings to get out there and tell people " I want you to vote Jonathan". All Obas in Yorubaland endorse candidates, this is not a secret.....but they do not campaign or persuade people to vote for them. |
barcanista:This is untrue. Oba Akiolu has not campaigned for Ambode. Oba has endorsed Ambode....and has vowed that Agbaje will not take victory in his domain. When he was asked about Presidential election he said the same thing the Awujale said.....may the best person win! |
@oo, Do you know what Ogboni is? |
Between Feb14th and March 14th, Jonathan has visited Yorubaland six times! Lol....fire dey burn Jonathan! He has suddenly come to the cognition that those he marginalized are afterall the kingmakers of Nigeria and without their endorsement he stands no chance of victory. First, the Obas in Egbaland told him to stop calling them to unecessary and unproductive meetings. Second, the Muslim body in Yorubaland told him they dont need his bribe and its a waste of his time and theirs to invite them to a unproductive meeting. Now Awujale has told him he is wasting his time paying visits to Obas in Ijebuland, and Yorubaland generally. Go and face the people with your accountability, dont bring your message to Obas, go tell it to the people you ruled for 6years. There is two weeks to election....Jonathan is confused! He should go to North, the Emirs might accept his message and help him in their domain.....make sure to take Patience Faka along to greet "troway shildren" along the streets. He doesn't have to worry about Ezes in the East, they are already bought and in his pocket....there is no negotiation about whether or not they will deliver....their choice is already purchased! |
