BarcaBlood: The FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed that in Monaco there was a “great Barça atmosphere”. The tribute to the Club for its five Champions League wins with the presence of Andoni Zubizarreta, Juliano Belletti, Carles Puyol, Éric Abidal and Andrés Iniesta , the awards of UEFA Best Player in Europe and Best Goal of the Champions League for Leo Messi and the award for Save of the Season for Ter Stegen meant there was a blaugrana tinge to proceedings at the draw. “I am very happy. UEFA have paid tribute to Barça and its fans, something we have been working and fighting towards for a long time. It’s ten years now that we have been at the forefront of European Football and to receive recognition for that is very satisfying,” declared Bartomeu. The Barça president also gave his thoughts on the draw that saw Barça placed in Group E alongside Bayer Leverkusen, AS Roma and BATE Borisov: “It’s fine, it is an interesting group for Barça fans.” Nevertheless, he added that “nothing is easy” and that “it will be hard work” to get through to the knock out stages of the Champions League. UEFA paid tribute on Thursday to FC Barcelona’s five victories in the Champions League. During the gala for the draw for the group stage of this season’s competition in which Leo Messi was also awarded the prize for Best Player of the Year, there was recognition for the Club as they now have earned the UEFA ‘Badge of Honour’, awarded to teams who have won the competition on five separate occasions or three consecutive occasions.
There was a Barça representative for each of the trophies won: Juliano Belletti, Carles Puyol, Éric Abidal and Andrés Iniesta, the latter taking the stage with the famous trophy following on from the blaugranes’ most recent win in 2015. The other four representatives played a part in the draw for the group phase of the 2015/16 competition.
Of the five win in the Champions League, a total of four have been won in the last decade. Since 2006, FC Barcelona have been the dominant force in European Football. Aside from those four victories in the continent’s most important club competition, a total of three European Super Cups and two World Club Cups have to be added. In total, nine trophies in ten years, their nearest rival Sevilla have won five in that time.
In their recent UEFA Super Cup victory in Tbilisi over Sevilla, FC Barcelona wore a logo on their left sleeve in honour of their five Champions League successes. SIMPLY AMAZING!!! |

Stegen has a problem, he should not be too confident. We also lack quality in defence. Our supercup fixture also had an effect on us tonight. At this point Bilbao would be very stupid not to go all the way and lift the trophy, I don't see us turning this around. I just hope Lucho is taking lessons. |

naijadeyhia: What many of you do not realise is that mourinho is a tactician and hates being predictable. He is obviously trying out something new in this match and has seen all that he needs to see in the first half. Now watch him make reforms in the second half...and arsenal just might put in an own goal due to pressure from Chelsea and Chelsea will gladly accept that and tap in 1 or 2 more goals just for the fun of it. Story for the gods |

Awesome01: Wipe or no wipe, they won and won't allow us hear word o.
Their fans no dey care whether na preseason friendly or not. All they want is bragging rights. I'm sure they know it's pre-season. Only rookies would take pre-season matches as serious as that. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by mcdreeezy: 10:29am On Jul 29, 2015 |
dmcdad: I am very much satisfied with the team's display thus far. The team has been playing well, even without some key players. If you watch our games against Man Utd and Chelsea, then you would know that we are good to go.
Of course these games are pre-season friendlies one would say. But, they go a long way in showing what our team is capable of. We played Chelsea's arguably best 11 with half our starters and showed them what we were capable of with or without the likes of Messi and co.
Aside some few mistakes and inconsistencies here and there, I will join Lucho to say we are doing great. Really sorry for Lord Douglas. His game is really improving, and I would have loved to see him play more, thereby, giving him more confidence and morale boost. Well, it's a good thing Sergi Roberto is making himself useful somewhere other than his preferred position in midfield. Glad he could play just about anywhere he is asked to and do it with aplomb.
Overall, our pre-season has been good. Of course there is always room for improvements. Well said bro, well said. |
