I think he calculated the flight of the ball pretty well but what he failed to do was calculate the width and height of the goal. Because he was following the ball back and at some point, he stopped. I believe he thought the ball was going out of play, not knowing there was still a tiny bit of space for the ball to enter.

Ter Stegen is playful YES but I wouldn't blame him for that goal. Nobody saw it coming at all, it was a wonder goal, even I had to applaud. I can blame him for the one he conceded against Bilbao in the super cup for not clearing the ball sideways or farther up the pitch but not this one, this was very unexpected, even Bravo almost conceded a similar goal against Malaga and Courtois conceded that kind of goal against Stoke city last season, so it happens. The few times he was tested he did well
