sorry bro been busy with exam. i dont understandd question.. Every certificates carries d school stamp n appropriate signature... n without dat.. i do not think any entity will recognise it.. please explain if am wrong
What I meant was that for the legalization process at the embassy, you don't need your school to stamp d certificate again, it is d photocopy that you want the embassy to legalize that you need your school to stamp as a true copy. That was my experience at the embassy, I had to go back to my University for them to stamp the photocopy before the embassy legalized the said photocopy.

there are 2 versions... Dutch n English or French....
use any of the two
Thank you Fikki1! How do I get the Dutch and English version? Do you have a copy?
Plus does the sponsor have to fill the form and take to the embassy or will he be given the form to fill at the embassy?

fikki, good day sir. pls i need information about ghent university. i applied there and was accepted, however, i am yet to finalised my legalisation process. i saw a post by mckreal about the need to stamp the sealed and signed photocopy of my original certificate by my institution. but my school said they can’t stamped an already sealed document except in cases of theft.

so how did you circumvent this issue in the embassy given your success. kindly post and clarify on this.

Also how can i connect with you beyond nairaland as i would need practical details concerning ghent university.
You don't need your university to stamp your certificate. If you want the Belgian embassy to legalize the photocopy of your certificate, that photocopy has to be stamped as a true copy of the original by your university (the issuing body)

Thanks man for the insight. My issue is that my school (Unilag) refuse to issue out the original copy of my transcript. They also insisted they won't issue it to Federal ministry of Education or any mincistry, citing that they only send the official documents to academic institutions, professional bodies, and scholarship board. At the moment, I'm in a limbo. Though the school in Belgium (Ugent) has gotten my sealed documents.

Do you have any idea how I can circumvent this issue?
You can arrange with secondary school and address that the transcript be sent there.

Thanks for the response. Between legalising original certificate and photocopy, which is better? My naive thinking is the original trump the photocopy. what do you think?
Depends on which stage of the process u are, to complete ur application process tithe school might require go send a legalize copy of if certificate. You can't send the original. But for the visa process, u have to legalize the original

Thanks for the info bro.
The part were you said certificate should be taken to the school to be stamped as a certified true copy isn't clear. My came with a red seal/stamp...can you kindly clarify better,Pls
If you want to legalize the photocopy of ur certificate, that photocopy has to be stamped as certified true copy by the issuing organization or else the embassy would send you back to do it

[Thanks for the info. I do have a question though. I been seeing people post legalising ssce result. is this process applicable for masters programme. I am made to believe this isn't needed for mine. Do I still to have it legalise. Thanks[/quote]To authenticate ur Bsc certificate at the Ministry of Education, you need to authenticate ur SSCE certificate too. Without ur original ssce certificate, the Ministry of Education will not attend to you.

From my personal experience of the legalization process of educational certificates for Admission process in Belgian Universities, I discovered that there was dearth of information about the process and it made it a little bit difficult for me. So I'm outlining the process here for those who want to do the legalization.

If you're legalizing a copy of your certificate to be sent to the university in Belgium? 1st of all go to your university (the issuing body) and stamp the copy of certificate as a certified true copy.
Then you proceed to Abuja, your 1st point of call is the Ministry of Education for authentication. You can only do the authentication between Monday to Thursday (10am to 1pm). Make sure you take the original copy of your SSCE along. You'll need to buy a scratch card either NECO or WAEC as applicable and print out your result online. Also make 3 copies of the documents you want to authenticate i.e SSCE, Bsc certificate etc. Your docs will be costed (#300 per document) and you'll have to generate a remita code online after which you proceed to the bank to make payment. After paying, take the bank print out and the teller used for paying to revenue office on the ground floor Ministry of Police Affairs to be stamped. Then you will proceed to the 8th floor Ministry of Education to submit after which you'll wait for a couple of minutes before names are called and you get your documents back already stamped.
Next you proceed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for authentication. Depending on how soon you get the Ministry of Education authentication done, you probably can't do that of Foreign Affairs on the same day cos Foreign Affairs only does authentication between 10am to 12pm from Monday to Friday.
The process is similar to that of MOE, you get your documents costed (#300 per doc), proceed to generate a remita code and pay at the bank. Then you stamp the print out and teller and submit. After submission, you will have to come back by 3pm to get your docs back.
Next you proceed to the Belgian embassy, No. 9, Usuma street, Maitama Abuja.
You can only authenticate your docs at embassy only on Tuesdays and Thursdays (excluding Public holidays)
The time for submission of docs to be legalized is between 9am to 10am after which you won't be allowed to enter the embassy.
Note: Before you go to the embassy, download the legalization form on their website (unless you want to but it for #1000 at the embassy gate, it is just a 2 page doc)
Also take a passport Photograph with white background (it is #1500 at the embassy gate)
After submission of docs for legalization, you'll be asked to return by 3pm to get it back.
The legalization fee is #9000 per document.

Faulting GEJ government to score false political point in the face of some gullible Nigerians will not get PMB anywhere! The hallmark of an administration is not the debt or problems they inherited but how they solved any problem that comes their way. Thanks to the former minister for telling us the truth. Let PMB move on and start his own administration not criticising the immediate past regime!

This is clearly a work of a make-up artist! Look at the pattern of the blood splattering, the blood is not from the victim. Plus someone that was beaten to pulp should be on a hospital bed not standing up and taking pictures for the press. APC and propagandas!
