ehilex: UK to ban foreign students from bringing family unless on ‘high-value’ degrees
Guys! How true is this pls? Do you think it will hold?
However, universities and members of parliament from all parties criticised the proposals, pointing to research suggesting that foreign students contribute £35 billion a year to the economy. I don't think it's achievable this year. The government is already facing resistance over the plan. However, the report looks centered to uphold the dependent status quo for masters and doctoral programs. |

Which school is better in terms of ranking, getting a job after graduation, getting an accommodation ( will be moving with my husband and 2 kids) and providing soft landing for international students.
Thanks all I think you should Google the UK list of school ranking. You will find your answer there and also research the cities. |

Etsetemi88: Greetings . Is it advisable to disclose past visa refusals during school application? Most schools I applied to refused my admission because of my past visa refusal. Note that the refusal was because my documents were not uploaded. They say I am at risk of getting another refusal You are advised to be upright with any info they demand from you. You would still face the issue much further into the application. Best is to apply to as many schools as possible, then indicate the reason for your previous refusal. You simply leave them to their own discretion on whether to accept you or not. Honesty is the best policy, they say. Cheers! |

Frankest: Good day house, please how long does it take to be offered admission after applying? Thanks. There is no specific timeframe. It all depends on the completeness of your documents at the time of application and maybe the amount of applications the uni receives at the time. Give or take, 1-2 weeks for Masters. Cheers! |

dduchess90: Hello
Anyone can get married at anytime
The onus is on you to proof that your relationship/marriage is real and substantial by providing necessary documents spaced out throughout the course of your relationship/marriage
You can look through the thread for examples of such evidence required
Cheers This is quite incisive, especially the first line. I guess provision of marriage certificate, tenancy agreement to show you both have lived together for a while, bank address on statement of account, medical report of bill etc... this is just to add to what you have said, while hoping it makes sense. Lol |

Heard some persons were refused to board a plane for some reasons! Are they now having border officers in Nigeria airport? Makes no sense if they are. Like, you already gave them Visa to travel to your country, so why else would you stop them from boarding from their own country? |

Sakol4life: Wow God is so great!
So I was planing to sit for an ielts exam. Because I have C6 in my English language. And university of Hull requires c5 above
But this evening I don’t just know what triggered me to check all the past weac exams that I’ve done in the past before I got admitted to my formal university.
Mind you, I sat for both Waec and waec gce 5 times before I eventually gain an admission for undergraduate studies at my institution.
I checked 2 of my past waec result today which I’ve abandoned checking all this while. I checked The first result which I sat for in 2013 and just to find out that I have C6 in English. I felt so down and said to God how I wish it was c5.
However I proceeded further in checking the second result which I sat for in 2014 and I have a whole B3 in English but mathematics was cancelled
I hope I can proceed in submitting this Waec result as I have B3 in English language.
Please kindly advice me what to do as I don’t want to write an islet exam?? You can get across to the school, explaining to them your new discovery. In the end, they might just request you send waec scratch card for them to confirm the results. Cheers! |

Sakol4life: Please kindly advice me accordingly, I got a conditional offer to study at the university of Hull for September intake. The conditions are
1) upload an ielts result with overall band of 6.5 and 5.5 in listening, writing and hearing.
2) make a deposit of 4000 pounds
My question now is, can I make the deposit first to secure my place for the program or I should just write the ielts exam first before making the payment
My fear is loosing the offer because I need to do some tutorial before sitting for the ielts test as people do say ielts no be beans.
I hope I can still make payment of my tuition deposit after getting the ielts result which might take me about 1 month to achieve.
Your advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot Why pick a school that's asking for IELTS? Unless you didn't do your BSC in Nigeria. |

Mindlog: I will suggest the main applicant arrive the UK alone, while the dependants join after a month or 2, UNLESS there is a permanent accommodation already paid for because many students who arrived the UK in the past few weeks with their spouses and children are stuck in hotels and Airbnbs because it is not easy getting houses to rent as families. Everyone I've spoken with gave this same advice. The man goes first, the rest of the family join months later. |

Onikoyiesho: Thank you very much for your advice @ dduchess90, @biosamak,@giselle237,@mcleo007 Actually it's my agency that is doing the admission processing and visa application for me and I've submitted all the necessary documents including my proof of funds bank statement that I said I made just one day transaction out of 28days for the the POF to be matured.. now my agency was saying that I didn't to more transactions on the proof of funds statement account that I should start another POF but I told them that immediately I printed the first POF statement account the money has be removed the next day from my account because the person running my POF didn't notify me when to renew the POF and I quickly pay for another month for the money to be in my account and also for visa application process and they retured the money back to my account 2days later . I told my agency that even if agree to start another POF in my CAS letter there are 2 date for me to arrive UK and start sch ( start date 13th March 2023 and latest possible start date 27th March 2023) and if I start another POF which is going to be counting from 15th Feb to 14th March for another POF to be matured. Meaning I have already due for first arrival sch start date (13th March 2023) as written in my CAS but still have 27th March as latest possible start date and i think applying after the first arrival date 13th March and before second arrival date 27th March wont be an issue during my Visa processing. My point is should I give my agency the go ahead to start my VIsa application with my first POF that I just made one day transaction or I should wait to generate another POF statement by engaging it with little transactions then use it for my Visa application ..... Just need more confidence Thank you That was my fear initially, but the top G's already said the transactions don't matter. And considering your time lapse, it's best you go ahead with the printed POF. All the best, my brother! |

livebullet: Please how do you guys cope for individuals who are on a student visa. 20 hours a week: how many jobs can you do?
what is the minimum pay/hour?
what is the minimum rent fee for a simple suitable accomodation?
how about Utility bills(electricity and water etc..gas)?
at the end of the day, how much can you save?
If say one earns 9.5GBP/hr x 20 hrs x 4 weeks= 760 Pounds/month. Now 760GBP is equivalent to roughly N421,000.
This isnt much money for a family man to send back home after removing rent and recurring bills....so how una dey do am? Abi drugs trafficking dey involved? we really need to know. I think as a student, you should have limited expectations when you arrive. You have to study the system and survive for a few months before you start to send money home or think of doing it. What you will earn can barely sustain you. Its why we can only hope they extend the work hours asap as rumoured |

The number of transactions is not the issue. You can apply with that
Please remember your POF is for your study in the UK, the ECO can ask you to provide an up to date statement at any point.
As long as your statement is verified and your POF is intact you should be fine
Cheers Wow, that's good to hear. I look forward to the success of his application. |

My 2 cent advice though. If you are the ECO, and you see a bank statement that was N2,144 on February 14, and today February 17 suddenly became N12,212,144 would you not be weary of the source? Its been said on this thread time and again to have transactions on the account to prove its not borrowed funds or geared towards Japa. If the OP cant wait, I will advice he gives a note to explain why there is no transaction on the account over the period. |

Onikoyiesho: Hello everyone, Pls I need someone to help me out I started my proof of funds last month 11th Jan and I printed my proof of funds statement account on Feb 10. ( 29days matured) but my concern is I made just only one day transaction with the proof of funds account and one of my friends said I should done more transactions with the proof of funds account during the 28days b4 printing it out. And I'm about to start my Visa application next week. Please I need your advice Your friend is right, you should have made transactions of credit and debit during that period. If you for September intake or even May, I would advice you hold on another month and carry out transactions on the account to make it look real. One transaction within a month will mostly give you issues when they are viewing your application. My thoughts! |

Will ukvi require his passport data page? Try to have a resolve with him to give consent. You won't like it if the situations were reversed. |

Even with marriage you still have to try to provide additional documents to show your relationship is substantial. This is before, during and after the wedding.
How long has he been with his fiancée?? If he doesn't have the required documents it might be worth going first and gathering these documents for her visa once settled
To answer your question, what you advised should be fine
Cheers Ok thanks, Dduchess90 Please what additional documents are they likely going to ask? And what are the standard documents, if you don't mind me asking? |

Please, a friend not on NL doing his Japa runs wants to take his fiancée with him as a dependant. However, they are planning to do their marriage once his own Visa is out. He is for May Intake. I advised him that given the limited time, it might be difficult for him to prove his relationship with her to UKVI.
Please what can he do? I advice going ahead with the marriage, he leaves for the UK once ready, then his wife can then apply some say 4-6 months after. IS THIS A GOOD PATH TO TOW?
Thanks Morning house, still waiting for insight on this. |

Opiso101: Good morning house.
Please i need clarification.
My wife will be applying for dependent visa soon, we agreed for her to keep her last name because of the stress of doing change of name and all.
Hope it won't affect her application. We have marriage certificate and pictures, i also intend to write a consent letter to support her application.
Thank you If you did Court wedding, then there should not be any sort of stress. She will just have to do a Name change affidavit and paper publication. Then perhaps, she changes her bank name and address to your surname and home address in Naija respectively. Doing this should make it easy to prove your relationship. |

Akp500: Good afternoon house and kudos to everyone dropping one or two advice on here 🙌🏽
Please, I am a silent reader here and I need help with my dependent’s visa application.
I just got my visa and plan to travel with my wife (we submitted and did biometric on different dates) but UKVI is asking for additional documents.
NB: We have been dating for over 2 years now but we don’t stay together. We officially got married on the 3rd of January (few days before I got my COS).
Documents initially uploaded
Marriage certificate (with our various parents home address) POF Police character (carrying her parents home address) TB test (carrying her parents home address) WhatsApp chat (date back to Jan 2021) Random pictures together Wedding photos
Please, find attached for the details of the mail sent by UKVI. I’m so confused on how else to demonstrate that we have a genuine relationship despite not staying in the same address over the years. Please help.
Thanks If I may ask, why use her parents address? I think that's where your issues lay. My thoughts tho |
