From experience, DTC may even complicate diagnostics. For instance, I once dealt with with P219a. Normally that should be O2 sensor issues. But at the end of the day, the o2 sensor is absolutely fine, and the problem was from an underperforming spark plug. This was detected by a good rewire.

2005 corrolla: that is an easy to fix car, and I am certain that you are not giving the car to the right people, for repairs.

That 300k is far more that enough to fix whatever the issue with that car may be, if you are dealing with the right people.

The right people are experienced toyota Repairers, and they typically ain't hard to find at all.

First of all, that hard starting problem should be checked by a rewire and not a mechanic. A good rewire will diagnose and tell you what the problem is among the following:
1. Bad spark plug/s
2. Bad coil wire/s
3. Malfunctioning nozzle/s
4. Damaged valve/s
5. Weak kick starter.
5. Dieing fuel pump.
