Foreign Affairs › Over 40 Boko Haram Terrorists Poisoned In Chad Prison by Mcreloaded(op): 2:11pm On Apr 19, 2020
Forty-four suspected Boko Haram militants in Chad have died in detention from apparent poisoning, the country's public prosecutor says.

The men were part of a group of 58 suspects captured during a recent major army operation against the Islamist group around Lake Chad.

An investigation has been launched after four autopsies showed a lethal substance had led to their deaths.

The justice minister said the prisoners had not been ill treated.

Djimet Arabi was responding to allegations that the prisoners were placed in a single cell and given no food or water after their transfer to the capital, N'Djamena, on Tuesday.

The military offensive was launched after jihadists killed nearly 100 Chadian troops on 23 March during a seven-hour attack on an island base in Lake Chad.

It was the deadliest attack on the Chad's army by Boko Haram since their insurgency spread across the border from Nigeria several years ago.

Lake Chad, surrounded by Chad, Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger, is a vast area to police

The prisoners, who were being held as part of an anti-terrorism investigation, had been found dead on Thursday morning, public prosecutor Youssouf Tom said.

"Forty of them were buried and the other four were taken to a pathologist, whose report revealed that a lethal substance was consumed, leading to heart problems in some and severe asphyxiation amongst others," he announced on state television on Saturday.

Mr Arabi confirmed that investigations were ongoing: "Was it collective suicide or something else? We're still looking for answers."

One detainee, who was taken to hospital on Thursday, had recovered and rejoined the other 13 prisoners who were "still alive and doing very well", the justice minister added.

The army has said its eight-day operation to flush out militants from hideouts on the islands of Lake Chad was successful.

Direct your question to NCDC after all they have been announcing numbers of people discharged after treating Malaria.
Even though they claim its covid19 patients, how come this treatment procedure cant be made known to Nigerians unless its those infected with malaria they are discharging everyday or the coro in Europe is different from the coro in nija

McDonalds said they closed the restaurant when they found out about the notice

McDonalds in China has apologised after a branch in the industrial city of Guangzhou barred black people from entering.

A video shared on social media showed a notice that read: “We’ve been informed that from now on black people are not allowed to enter the restaurant."

McDonalds said that when it found out about the notice it temporarily closed the restaurant.

Tensions have been running high between Africans and local people in the city.

Last week, hundreds of Africans in Guangzhou were evicted from hotels and apartments after online rumours that coronavirus was spreading among African people, community leaders said

Guangzhou is a hub for African traders buying and selling goods and is home to one of China’s largest African communities.

The Guangdong provincial government has responded to concerns about discrimination by calling China and Africa good friends, partners and brothers.

It said it attached "great importance to some African countries' concerns and is working promptly to improve" its way of operating.

McDonalds also responded, saying the ban on black people was “not representative of our inclusive values”.

“Immediately upon learning of an unauthorised communication to our guests at a restaurant in Guangzhou, we immediately removed the communication and temporarily closed the restaurant.”

The restaurant added that it had conducted “diversity and inclusion” training in the branch.

Africans in Guangzhou say that they have been facing more than a week of discrimination.

Health workers have reportedly gone door to door testing Africans for coronavirus, many say regardless of whether they show any symptoms, have travelled or have been in contact with Covid-19 patients.

Community leaders say that hundreds were forced out of their homes and hotel rooms and then forced into quarantine. Video has emerged online of African peopple sleeping on the streets, in hotel lobbies, under bridges and outside police stations.

The video filmed inside McDonalds sparked anger both inside and outside China.

The African community in Guangzhou has been dwindling in recent years. There were once thought to be hundreds of thousands from the continent conducting business in the city, but today the number has fallen to just thousands.

Many feel that their communities have been the target of discriminative measures. Restrictions to visas have made many I have spoken to feel less welcome. Some feel that the coronavirus is being used as an excuse to target businessmen who overstay their visas.

Nice one on the governors part.
Let them know that social distancing is the way to go by firstly locking down all religions places of worship including churches and mosques.
The North will not survive what I see happening in Europe. The governors should be proactive like Ganduje.
God bless Nigeria and also heal the world

Culture › Re: Can Edo Governor Also Dethrone Oba Of Benin? by Mcreloaded(m): 8:43pm On Mar 10, 2020
Omon605:
Is totally impossible for Oba to be dethrone in Edo state , because in Edo Kingship is hereditary by birth, not choosing or appointed. In fact the governor or president have no role to play on it. Even if the governor decides otherwise and suspend the Oba, nobody in Edo will take the position and even if it means the Oba die on suspension, the next person to the throne must be the first son and if it happens he does not have son before his death it had to be his immediate younger brother. Nobody has the power to dethrone the Oba of Benin or any other king in Edo land.
Couldn't have said it better. Thanks
