So you are going to use age?
What happened in the 70s? Why was Nigeria's economy booming then and the Naira stronger than the dollar? You see where your "age theory" is FLAWED? You comparing Nigeria to USA from 200 years ago is just plain embarrassing grin
Goodmorning bro and sorry for bringing this here.

I don't think Dangote would have much effect. The guy has loans to pay, and he has to pay his employees in the refienry a decent salary..and then there is the refienry maintenance costs....

So, not much effect, am afraid.
Then how will he settle all these financial burden where our own refineries have failed again and again.
Unless there is something he knows that we dont know.
Will he sell the oil to Nigeria in dollars or Naira, will government subsidise the oil they will buy from him albeit cheaper as cost of shipping the oil is out of the equation or will government do to oil what they did to cement that gave Dangote the edge over cement importation then why did government not do the same for our own refineries.
As far as I am concerned the refineries should all be sold and let there be competition.
The issue of subsidy is still there and yet Dangote is building a massive refinery here in Nigeria where other investors fear to tread. So whats his end game
Politics › Re: Oil Price: FG Revenue Shrinks As Petrol Subsidy Rises by Mcreloaded(m): 8:28am On Jan 08, 2020
Gwilym:
What's reduced is the smuggling of oil across the border...to the tune of 6 million litres of fuel per day...out of about 50-70million liters of fuel per day...which while welcome, isn't enough in savings.

But the border closure is being used as a means to avoid the alternative, removing fuel subsidy, which would actually end smuggling across the broder.

(I mean, I buy subsidesed Nigerian fuel at N140-5 NAIRA in Nigeria, head to Niger, Benin or Cameoon and sell at N300...their offical price...and above...that's a decent profit there.)
On subsidy removal you are very right as Nigeria cannot grow subsidising oil at this rate.
Then whats the solution, upgrade our customs, make our refineries work, remove oil subsidy etc.
The mistake was made when the elite and politicians and labour ganged up against Jonathan when he tried removing subsidy and as such how can Nigerians believe our present government that was against oil subsidy removal then to now want to remove the same subsidy.
Lets be patient and see what effect Dangote refinery will have on this issue.
We know subsidy is a scam

Excuses being made in advance to cover up the planned looting from the impending war between Iran and USA that will make oil prices go up.
They forgot they told Nigerians that consumption of oil has reduced since the border closure.
The question now is, if the consumption of oil has reduced because of border closure ...........

Here in Nigeria we are looking for investors and there in Ghana they are busy closing shops of Nigerian in investors which has always helped their economy to grow.
We know the border closure also contributed but its not wise to drive away Nigerians who we know spend heavily any where they are.

Independent power projects, especially at state level would have been the most sensible solution to the power problem in Nigeria. But the greedy mafia at the federal level always want to stagnate things in the country...

Niger Delta can generate its own electricity easily, Lagos can, even most parts of the North can create solar farms and take advantage of the vast desert lands they have, all that, added to what the National grid has would have solved our power issues...

Kudos to OAU. Great uni!!!
You think Federal government dont know what they are doing? If they make it easy for states and other business to have electricity the know NEPA abi na PHCN will be like water board since everyone can now sink bore hole.

Solar panels and inverters should be licenced before any installation in Lagos state, because many installed panels are fake and destroy the ozone layer leading to climate change.
Lagos state government should add generator to also be licenced.

So there are places where #135,000 is paid for bride price in the north? Am shocked, but the south east has been insulted because people think their bride price is high.
Hmmm #INSIDELIFE
N137 000, the law was passed some few months ago which discouraged lots of young men to marry 8n the community.
But thank God the law has been cancelled and all roads lead to kera village in Kano state, need i say more
Culture › N137 000 Community Bride Price Scrapped by Mcreloaded(op): 5:30pm On Dec 04, 2019
Authorities in northern Nigeria have suspended a bride-price levy imposed by a village chief following a public outcry.

Residents of Kera village in Kano state complained that the 137,000 naira ($375; £300) levy, to be paid by the groom to the bride's family, had prevented marriages from taking place.

Maigida Adamu, the chairman of the local government authority for the area, said the chief made a "mistake" by imposing the levy.

"He didn’t consult us before his imposition. I have therefore suspended it and I have formed a seven-man committee to review his actions

Isah Yusuf, who lives in the village, welcomed the decision, saying the community was opposed to the levy.

No-one has been married in the village for the past four months after the chief, Ado Sa'id, imposed the fee after scrapping the old custom of the groom giving presents like furniture and kitchenware to the bride's family.

He argued that that the levy was cheaper and would make marriages easier.

But one villager, Isah Kera, said the new rule had forced some couples to go and get married elsewhere.

Another villager, Sani Kera said he had five children who were ready for marriage, but the bride-price levy had made them suspend their plans.
