I love the Chinese. Sometimes they don't just give a fück about aesthetics. This is someone casually using BYD blade cells (15kwh each) and even built contraption to get it hanging off a wall Flies wire as if he had once worked for NITEL/NEPA. Anyways it works, that's all that matters

AyarmBoye: i understand as all the loads will be using the power the solar is generating….
I’m hardly at home during rhe day so no loads …. My question is what if the battery get full before I return home I hope the charge controller can cut of the supply to avoid overcharging of the battery? And what happens to the power the panel keeps generating when the battery is fully charged? The answer to all your question is actually in the name of the device- a solar charge controller. It literally means it'd control the charging coming in from your solar panels. That means once battery is full, it'd enter float (stop charging and maintain a particular pre defined voltage). |

ask4bk: Some of these old inverters stay completely silent in normal user except when it hits like 50% of rated capacity and the fans activate. But these new ajebo hybrid inverters will just have fan constantly on even on low load, and will increase the fan noise with more load hitting it.
These old inverters are just so robust and working for 5-7 years without any single fault The old inverter don't usually multitask and form factor is usually bigger. Cramped in electronics deserve ventilation Newer hybrid inverters does three functions...charge battery via mains , has a solar charge controller and inverts. All these generate heat, making that fan necessary, but if you hate fan so much, some premium inverters are out there with huge heatsinks and no fans eg Goodwe, Solis, Sigenergy etc

brightk: Are we neglecting the amount of energy in these banks? u are converting from ac to dc, where are the losses in ur calculation.... I never knew that charging phones consumed so much power until a friend opened a charging shop near school. He runs at a minimum of 600W even on days when there aren't many phones. With 78 charging points, the wattage adds up pretty fast. He currently uses two old 220Ah tubular lead acid batteries paired with four 550W solar panels. Eventually, he will have to swap out those old batteries for lithium ones. |

Please share your WhatsApp number for a closer collaboration if you don't mind. Considering going for the bigger panels (725w) but the weight I see of those things are scary. Make e no go bring my roof down. Plus charge controller that would give me peace of mind no go cheap. With your help, I am more assured. 715w panels are pretty huge and heavy (37kg) But it's all good. It works ok. Just get a tier one panel: Jinko, Longi, Trina, etc. |

waleayeni1: Thank you for the prompt response. This your setup is too clean. Are you by any chance an installer? You are my lastest favourite person on nairaland at the moment. Abeg permit me to be your curious student at this time. What is your Solar array strength. What is the size of your battery bank. Is there any part of the system that you wish you had done better? What is the relative cost of the components used outside the inverter? I would be ecstatic to get your feedback My solar array ain't that much. Just 9 panels. 4 nos Jinko 380w and other random 5nos 250w panels. Battery is 14.3kwh, I built it myself. I like to DIY things...with enough patience you can do virtually anything....except, maybe, surgery on yourself I wish I could add more panels, but sadly I can't. |

isentropic: Guys, I just installed 12KVA felicity inverter with 15Kwh felicity battery.12 X 440W jinko panels connected in series to PV1 and 10 X 590W jinko panels connected in parallel (5-5 in Parallel) to PV2. The inverter has an inbuilt mppt so no need for external charge controller.Anything to be worried of.Just seeking opinions incase I missed something Isn't that 12 panels in series close to 480v for the panels in series? Or am I missing something here? Are you not better off connecting the 590w all 10 in series? That should be about 442v. Pretty close to the 450v which I think is the closest you could safely get to these 450v-500v high voltage hybrid inverter. |

You can buy panel as high as 150k. Every solar system that make sense is within 1m and above.
To pay a working man 10k is now problem. Nigerians hate to pay blue-collar workers, even those who could afford it. Oya na DIY they won't. They are always out looking for who they'd pay a slave wage. A friend of mine studied biology in the US, but his skills range from networking to renewable energy. He has more tools and expertise than most professionals because he actually took the time to learn how to do it himself. A typical Nigerian wouldn’t do that; they’d rather call an 'expert' and expect free labor. It’s wild how some of us operate. |

Encitee3991: Not supporting such reviews, but comment on delivery issues is part of product review. Only that many are more concerned about their shipping experience rather than actual product There are 3 main aspect of order review. >product rating >seller communication >shipping experience. Bro, that's the only review they give! That's the ONLY thing they often say. I like that you can talk about ship time in review, but making it the only review is now something I see often in Nigerian review. Nothing about the product they bought. |

Olamak1: Imagine! The person in the screenshot actually received his item, yet decided to drop a 3 - star reviews for the store simply because he was yet to test the product.
What he should have done was to confirm receipt of the order immediately and then wait for 2 or more days before adding the reviews (by then, he'd have been through with the testing). I’m honestly shook, bro. How did he even find time to drop a 3-star review when he hasn’t even tested the thing yet? It makes zero sense. I keep seeing reviews like this from Nigerians - stuff like “It arrived late,” “It arrived fast,” or “Don’t use NIPOST next time.” None of that has anything to do with the actual product! So now, people like me who actually want to know if the item’s worth buying are left guessing. It’s kinda sad - like, five of my countrymen left full-on blank reviews and I still have no clue if this thing even works. |

SolomonGrundy: So, I did switch it to Li, immediately I did that, the red light (fault) started blinking. Reverted the settings to USE and it returned to normal. Oh. I see. There is no communication between your battery and inverter. Action: Change Setting 03 to APL (Appliance). 19 Bulk (CV) Voltage 28.2V Charges cells to ~3.52V (safe, full charge). 20 Float Voltage 27.0V Maintains battery without stress (~3.37V/cell). If this issue continued after this setting, change Float to be the same with Bulk voltage (28.2V). 21 Low DC Cut-off 24.5V Quick Question: When the charging stops, does the "AC" icon on the screen disappear or flash, or does the battery icon simply stop moving? Knowing this will tell us if it's a voltage stability issue or a software setting issue. |

SolomonGrundy: It's a 24v lithium phosphate battery.
Yes, it recognises mains, but immediately it starts charging with mains, it automatically disconnects. And the cycle repeat itself until I put off the mains breaker.
I have no idea. How do I access the charging profile settings? Ok. Setting 05 Battery Type Set to USE (User-Defined) to manually enter voltages. Other options: AGM, Flooded, or LI (Lithium). Select Li for lithium |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 4:43am On Mar 11 |
SolomonGrundy: Good day everyone!
I have a little challenge with my growatt 3kva inverter. Since I installed it, it has refused to charge my batteries using the grid, so basically I only charge using solar. However, considering the raining season is almost upon us, I wanna get it fix ASAP.
Anytime I connect it to the grid, it does connect quite well but as the battery is about to start charging, it automatically disconnects. I've tried it several times, but the issue still persist.
For context, the grid supply voltage reads between 230 - 240, therefore it's not a case of low voltage or high voltage.
Pls, does anyone know why it refuses to charge? Check Program 14, I think, in Settings. These are the priority settings: CSO (Solar Priority): Uses Solar first. Grid only kicks in when the sun is down or too weak. (Best for lower bills). CUT (Utility Priority): Uses Grid first. Solar only acts as a backup if the power goes out. (Best if solar is very limited). SNU (Solar & Utility): Uses Both simultaneously. Charges the battery as fast as possible. (Best for unstable power areas). OSO (Only Solar): Uses Solar only. The grid will never charge the battery. (Best for 100% off-grid setups). You may likely be in OSO which only allows for solar charging. Change to SNU |
