I was shocked too.
I got to know this when I was in the market for panels and reached out to Coscharis Technologies for Jinko panels, when I told the lady that their price for 555w was way higher than what I was offered for the 575w in alaba that was when she asked me to request for the S/N of the panels they offered let her verify if it's the original or fake, well my shock was shocked with the outcome.

I ended up getting the Longi as they only had the 555w in stock and I personally verified all the panels from Longi website before leaving with the panels.

That's a good update, so fellas now know to check as these our boys in Alaba no dey hear word.

You'll be amazed by level of the quantities of fake Jinko panels in Nigeria now and I fear it will surpass the original ones soon as the demand for Jinko panels are increasing daily.

For real? Didn't know they are into Jinko now. I always get from authorised dealers.

This is strange!

What if the building itself has protection against thunder.

Will the solar setup need a different protection

If EFFECTIVE, then you have nothing to worry about. But if it's not, then you may be in for a surprise when the rains starts.

That not too bad don discourage..lol. let me just buy once and for all. Please which brands are first tier.??

First tier include the following, note all of them have also "Alaba levels" (fake types):

1) Jinko

2) Canadian Solar

3) Trina Solar Panels

4) Longi

5) JA Solar

6) Era Solar

7) Yingli

Etc

Look for the real dealers to avoid buying "label" as they often refer to the fake types. Beware of 'labels" when buying Canadian and Trina Solar panels. Alaba vendors have a particular fixation in faking these two panels.

Good luck.

Na wa o.

Please is it just inverter it can affect or it can affect other things like battery, charge controller solar panels

I've seen an instance where thunder storms damaged 16 numbers of 350w solar panels, the inverter (which is a hybrid) in one day. Till today due to the cost of replacing those items, the organisation do not use renewable energy. Though they later installed an active thunder protection AFTER the damage.

The majority of Nigerians don't like to spend money on protective devices, they often seen it "unnecessary" .

Abeg...is Africell a good solar panel brand?

Not too bad. I've used it in the days of freestyle for solar panels.

These days I no longer freestyle smiley

First tier or nothing.

Please Pardon my curiosity o.

This one I'm seeing thunder there, hope it didn't directly strike your device?

And please what should one do to protect solar system against thunder

1) Lightning arrestor

2) A good earth for the inverter

3) SPD (surge protective device) installed

Please which do you think is better Powmr or Felicity MPPT Charge controllers?

I may be biased, but I'll say it is PowMr. This is because I have a friend that was having so many issues with his Felicity charge controller, but when he changed to PowMr, the problem disappeared.

Good morning fam.
Pls I need help from the experts in the house. Few months ago, my inverter (1.2kva) got damaged by thunder. We called the installer and he said the company doesn't have the board available as at then that we should buy sachet inverter pending when they'll have it. But we decided rather than buying a sachet inverter that we shud fix it elsewhere. But ever since we got this new board it has never worked well, if we put on the TV, it'll say overload, we can't do fan and TV concurrently, it'll be screaming overload. We have returned this inverter more than 3times for the guy to fix the issue yet nothing. This last time is even worst, we can't put on ordinary light, it's not powering anything at all. And now Alaba has closed till next year. Pls any idea what we can do because it's really frustrating me

Try another repair centre or go to Arena and get the inverter fixed. The guy you keep returning it to may actually not be doing anything to it or simply incapable of fixing this issue.

I would never advise any landlord to allow a tenant to install solar, talk less remove. Too much Incompetence and story telling in our environment.

Existing tenant no chance at all, if you don’t like move out. New tenant let them know before hand that solar on the roof is not allowed.

I won’t even allow a tenant who says he will leave it when he leaves. Nigerians are not honorable people. The same tenant that you bent over backwards will come with one story when it is time to pack out. Or he will remove it without you knowing and start with Nigerians’ favorite phrase…”sorry don’t be annoyed”.

It’s the quality of the installation/uninstallation plus the likely hood of honoring agreements… too many points of failure/damage/stress…...not worth the hassle.

Well, that's just your recommendation. Fortunately, some landlords do allow for this. All of the tenants can't just wait till they are landlords to use renewable energy.

As a landlord, I WILL NEVER EVER ALLOW A TENANT TO PUT PANELS ON MY ROOF. I REPEAT:NEVER EVER. The chances of a mistake along the path of installation or removal is so high that the risk is not worth it. Ten years rent can barely reroof a building at current prices/value obtained.
When he/she builts then he/she can place on his/her roof.
I will however not obstruct any form of land based structure as long as you promise to ensure my building is back in shape when you leave.
I was a tenant twice, and each time I ensured I totally refurbished the building before leaving.
I have seen enough "professionals" in my discipline and in construction /engineering to know that mistake no get master! And the person with the short end of the rope is usually the owner.

Both buyer and seller can agree on certain things. As a tenant if I can't install solar panels on the location I'm moving into, it just voids the contract. No need for long meetings or something. I'll just move on. Nobody should bring up this issue AFTER packing in, it should be discussed BEFORE you even consider paying rent.

A welder used angle iron bar to fabricate the structure which I nailed on the fence and placed the panels inside, tied with binding wire.

Advice for those who are still waiting for millions to install an inverter system, I live in a rented apartment and can't install panels on the roof no enough space in compound.

Note: my panels are installed in the wrong orientation, facing North instead of South.

Where did you install your panels?

Thanks for your response sir.

I appreciate.

I currently have very serious issues with the batteries I bought from YOHAKO and I want to be sure the issues are not peculiar to me as the dealer wants to make it seem. I bought 5units of those batteries. I used 4units for a setup, and they cannot support 2000w of load for 10hrs.

Once the sun goes down by about 5pm, the battery drops immediately.

I want to have more feedback so I will be sure this is not peculiar to my case only.

Yohako is a cheap, low quality Chinese make.

Hello house,

I greet everybody...

Please has anyone used this particular YOHAKO lithium batteries before (9.8kwh/48V)??
What are your experience with it?
Does it meet up to the rated capacity?

Please I need a very honest review from installers and end users in the house including engineers and technicians.

Marketers should stay off.

If it's anything like their solar charge controller, I'll recommend you try another make. Well done.

1. The manufacturing date on the sticker is showing October 2022.
2. Can't determine number of cycles
3. According to the seller, they are telecom batteries.
4. The guy is quoting 850k for the Huawei 48v 150ah and 750k for the 48v,100ah

Cycles should be less than 400 then. Buy.

well I have only repaired such twice and it's been long.

it's not my line though depending on it's fault, I could fix it BUT if you willing to take the CHANCE, I could come take a look.

Things such as these interests me.

1. what part of lagos do you reside in ?
2. what is the fault ?

I just DIY my way through mine. From changing brake pad to changing brake. To upgrading brake from mechanical brake to hydraulic. change of headset bearing, wheel sprocket replacement. Had to change my motor controller and couldn't get the exact replacement, had to DIY the connection. Even changed the original light for something brighter for night runs smiley
Upgrade of original lithium ion to a bigger capacity lithium phosphate.

It's pretty simple if you take out time to study it.

The thing is to do it and see how it goes smiley

You may not see it at the exact price I got it. The reason is that the cost of the cable(3M length) is $4.40 but I got 2 diffent coupons of $4.18 put together, and that reduced the check out price to $0.22.

Check it out here:
