Hello House,

I will be moving to Nigeria for 2 months and working from Nigeria, I would like to get a solar panel setup that would provide at least 12 hours for my laptop, phones and 1 2HP AC.

Thank you.

The 2HP AC you have will 4x the cost.

I have no idea bro. Those service center guys refused to release it to me.
Took the battery inside and brought it back outside already fixed.

Lol. They always hide this. Thought you were able to see it. Thanks

You may be right. But most people are just happy to have power that they don't even care the purity of their power supply.

My Schneider does this. It just goes off. A simple restart brings it up. The earth is bad, checked and the earth resistance is 15 ohms. My area is tiled. Still had to break that beautiful tile to fix this earth issue smiley

Please when going for any inverter lower than 1KVA, kukuma just buy used UPS make electrician or solar person wey sabi am help you convert am.

Except of course Money ain't your worry + you don't mind.

MeanWhile, when looking for used items, rather than wasting time asking in here, just go to jiji . ng

Most UPS are modified sine wave inverters. That's just the major minus. Every other thing na plus.

@linnov8

Was able to screenshot 938.1w from the the video I made while checking.

That's an outstanding performance. Founi is doing well.

Thanks a lot for this. That's why we have people like you on this platform to guide people like us.

I quite understand the basics of electricity and I'm moderately comfortable with small DIY projects. I've just never been in a position to top balance a cell before hence my question to experienced bosses like you.

To be sure I understand well(I'm a slow learner), the converter will convert my 12/24v charger(input) to any adjustable voltage(output) of my choice?

Also, does this converter work like a DC transformer?

The DC-DC converter I showed in the original post has input voltage range of 5-40V and adjustable output voltage range of 1.2-35V

DC-DC converter as the name implies converts DC voltage to another value of DC voltage. Most of the converters has a fixed output voltage eg 12V to 5V converter eg your car phone charger. But in this instance I found the type that one can manually change the output voltage. So to quote you it is sort of a "DC voltage transformer".

Danibestguy:

Do you mean when the highest charged battery Is full? And how does the converter work? Does it transfer charges from the highest to the lowest?

Also for the converter connection, is the inverter/external charger going to be connected directly to the converter or to the battery?

If you don't, have basic knowledge of DIY, you may need someone that does, for this.

Lemme still explain how this should work. To top balance batteries means to charge batteries in such a way that all the batteries are equally charged to the same voltage.

To make this happen, you'll have to connect all the cells in parallel and charge till the charging current goes to zero.

To connect this DC -DC converter, your charger is the input, and the output (after adjusting voltage to 3.4v) goes to the cells you want to balance.

Find attached the LiFePo4 cells being connected in parallel pending top balancing.

Please do not attempt any of this stuff by yourself if you don't have the basic knowledge of batteries connection and electricity.

Good evening bosses. Please is there an alternative to top balance new lifepo4 cells? Or how can I top balance without buying a bench dc charger as I cannot afford that for now.

If there is an alternative, I'll be very happy to hear it.

Charge in series with your regular charger until battery is full. Remove charger and parallel your LiFePo4 batteries.

Get a cheap DC-DC adjustable converter and you are good to go. Use your regular 12v or 24v external charger as input. Add a small fan if the converter runs hot.

Bro what is 2s 3p

2S= 2 panels in series
3P = 3 panels in parallel

Let me use the diagram below to illustrate 3S 2P

Panels 1,2, 3 are connected in series = 3S

Panels 4,5,6 are connected in series too = 3S

Then there is two parallel. Panels 1,2,3 is in parallel with Panels 4,5,6 . Notice the parallel connection between Panels 1 &4 (and panels 3&6

Panels in series are connected + to -

Panels in parallel are connected - to - and + to +

PV Plus and PV Minus goes to the charge controller PV + and PV - respectively.

He is doing 6p based on the PV Voltage on the screen... It shouldn't even get hot as there is not much conversion...
3s2p/2s3p maybe hit or miss.. he can try his luck...

Just checked again. Thought the temperature is voltage. Lol.

Some installers are crazy. Why would an installer opt for 6p after swapping out a PWM? THAT'S the problem then, Kendzyma get your installer to go and change the configuration to either 2s 3p or 3s 2p. He did 6p which is the reason the charge controller is running very hot, low voltage and high current are often recipe to high temperature. Also your MPPT won't work well at such low voltage. That'll explain the poor yield too.

That controller is not bad, I have friends using it without issue, just remember to set the battery type you are using

Hi Everyone. I have a 2.5kva setup with 2 12v 220ah tubular batteries (24v system), I also have 6 300w panels connected on series (not sure, installer did the whole set up, but the said it's in series) .

Issue is, I have been using a pwm 60amp cc with it for a while now that works fine, just decided to upgrade to powmr 60a mppt cc which I installed yesterday, but I have been getting an abnormally high temperature from the cc, like 60+, which the highest I have gotten from pwm was around 40. And I also noticed a reduced battery time when I am on battery compared to when I was using the pwm...

what could be the reason for this temp increase and reduced battery time?

From the PV voltage I suspect that the connection was 2s 3p. See if you can do 3s 2p to reduce the current coming into the charge controller. Would've asked if the cooling fan is working, but this design doesn't have any.

Check any local market that sells things like electronic parts, fan repair area for these batteries.

Please what is the best specification of solar panels to get for a 12v 115amps battery. I also want to be able to power a hot plate rated at 1000w during the day when the sun is up. I want to go completely offgrid. Need inputs from everyone please. I am tired of Nepa. I have the battery, intend to get the Inverter and Solar Panels.

A 12v 115ah battery has a total energy of 1380wh which if it's a lead acid battery has a 50% usable capacity, that is 690wh. If you are to run a 1000w hot plate on it it'll last for 690/1000= 0.69 hours or 41 minutes in theory.

Conclusion: It's not recommended to run a hot plate off such small size of battery. Also it'll be hard to get a genuine 12v inverter that can handle such 1000w load in Nigeria.

Abeg Veterans abi experts in the house. If you are carrying 80amps from your charge controller output to your battery. What size of wire do you use. You guys with 80A, 120A controller for a 12v system. My controller and battery are quite close to each other. This my online calculator is telling me 26mm. How will 26mm wire enter this tiny hole in this charge controllers. Not sure I am doing my calculation right

What type of charge controller are you using? Can we see pictures for PV wire and battery connections on the charge controller?

Good day guys. I have a pending Aliexpress shipment using DHL (It was a mistake, I didn't even check until after placing the order). Anyways as expected, I was charged custom duties (About 110k). I got a link via SMS to make the payment on their official payment portal. I tried paying several times but was unsuccessful, only for me to check back this morning and I'm seeing an almost 300% increase in the charges (Now 306k custom duties to pay), which is honestly ridiculous. Is this normal? I can't even get them on call via their customer care line and they're not very responsive via mails. I'd appreciate any assistance I can get on this. Thanks.

If you have a penchant for some risk taking, you can try what I once did in similar circumstance. I refused to pay the duties and the package was returned to sender. I filed a dispute and got refunded. While this stunt may not end up as mine did, it's just something worth considering should you see paying this hefty sum as something you can't do.
