Please has anyone used Longi panels?
How can it be compared to jinko panels?

I'm currently working on increasing my panels and torn between Longi 580w and either Jinko 580w or 625w, but wants to know how Jinko panels performs.

I've used Longi. The 450w version. Performance was superb and on par with Jinko.

It is said to improve the solar panel yield by tracking the individual panels and in case of shading or failure on one to multiple panels, it helps to isolate them from affecting the entire array's production.

Interesting concept.

Please for budgetary reasons, I am thinking of getting a 5KW SRNE inverter with 5.12kWh Lithium Phosphate Iron battery and 5.5kWp Solar panels (10 panels x 550w). My home load is a 2HP LG Dual Inverter AC, One 55 inch LG flatscreen, 2 laptops, 1 video game console, 2 standing fans, one fridge, one water dispenser and 12 energy bulbs. Please how can I efficiently manage the load application on the inverter system to prolong its lifespan and when during a 24 hour period can I switch on the AC, what appliances do I need to switch off when using the AC and how many hours in a day can I use the AC? Kindly advise please. Thank you.

I'll recommend downgrading your AC to 1HP and trippling both your battery and PV capacity. Well done.

Hello @the bosses in the house, does joining pv wires reduce efficiency like voltage/amperage.. ??

Improperly joined cables increases resistances and hence voltage drop, but properly joined cable has less resistance and hence negligible voltage drop. Also waterproof your joint if joint is exposed to moisture or elements.

This issue of lightning frying Inverters, is this limited to only All in one inverters or can this happen to stand alone inverters too

Depends on your area, any inverter is susceptible to lightning surges that can curse temporary shut down or permanent damage.

To forestall this, it is recommended to connect your system to a good electrical earth and install surge protective device.

Lol, I remember when I gave a quote for an installation(ICT section) in a university, the VC and co told me it was expensive that I should reduce it. I told them no, that was the last time I heard from them. Only for them to call a big installer who did it 200k cheaper!

The 200k difference was for earthing the building and equipment.

Well, the transient current from the inverter damaged equipment worth over a million(this was when dollar cheap o, around ₦400/$).

Hope the savings were worth it smiley

Why buy an expensive MPPT while you can get a cheap PWM? Saves cost and gets the hack the job.

Conversely, when some of us give cost to a quality installation clients will negotiate craze commot for the thing, or simply ignore you and say your price is too high.

I do installations on the side, and trust me if it was my daily hustle, hunger for don wound me and my family... meanwhile, some installers that don't do due diligence when installing are already counting hundreds of installations done YtD.

That's another thing. A friend, an installer gave someone a quote for ₦2.5m for some solar solutions, the client laughed at him and said if he has ₦2.5m that he would be out of the country where there is 24/7 power. smiley

Crooked installers get the job most of the time as compromising on quality means nothing to them. Eg using a 40A PWM to run a 5kw PV set up. Lol

Good morning and happy Sunday to y’all great people out here🫡🫡🫡
I want to narrate my horrible experience with a guy known as BlueCross in Eleyele Ibadan right opposite Anwar’u Islam Grammar School, it will be a quite long story but I will make it short as much as I can.
Met him around June 2023 on jiji and we talked about doing a solar solution that is capable of charging my gadgets only, although the post of his I saw on jiji states that the solution can run a TV for 5hrs and it’s the same solution I requested for. His guy came around and installed it but then with just my 33W charger, the solution will trip off after 2hrs of charging when the sun already went down of which I contact him and made him realize this isn’t what we agreed on but I let it slide.
In October, I saw his whatsapp status one day with 10kwh battery just built by him so I said I would love half the capacity of that which is 5kwh I believe as I want to make use of it to run freezer for ice block business.
He gave me quote and I said he should take the one I had before and then I’ll add funds to it which we both agreed.
He said he will deliver within two weeks max and I paid him but more than 2months after before he came to do the installation giving me excuses of not being able to get his hands on the inverter he wanted to use for me.
Eventually he came and do the installation and after charging the battery full then I plug in my 110W freezer alone from exactly 4:30pm to run the test and behold the battery trip off at exactly 11:46pm in the same night which means it only lasted 7hrs 16minutes.
I contacted him and made him realize this can never be a 5kwh battery as there is no way it will only lasted for 7hrs as I expect nothing less than 30hrs at least from it.
Does anyone here has a police connect in that area or close by?
I do not mind spending my last kobo to make this guy realize the fraud that he is because I am frustrated by all of his doings.

As a professional Nigerian, I'll tell you one of the ways this would end if you involve the police.

Once the police hear the cost of the item is N1m+, they'll ask you to bring "ordinary N200k"to enable them open "investigation" on the matter.

The half-baked/crooked tech guy will be arrested and you'll be surprised to see him in his shop the next day. If you have an insider in the police you'll get to know he bailed himself with N20k

If you approach the police again, they'll ask for more funds to enable them use their "tactical team" to mobilize for more investigations that they realised the tech man is not working alone.

After back and forth, and more payment from you, the tech man may be persuaded to pay you some little money, say N100k as he was not solely to blame for the item not working.

At the end of the day you are still at a loss.

If you meet a lawyer he will ask for N50k mobilization fee to enable him start court proceedings that will ensure the tech man pays you N5m in damages.

Months after spending over N600k in court appearance fees and time wasted in going to court, you may be advised to settle out of court.

It's hard to get justice here. At least legally

In the bid to make a quick buck, some installers end up lying and delivering substandard products to their client making many assume RE is not ok. Just here to tell any newbie that RE works when done right.

This is incredible! Your affinity with Aliexpress' system must be very strong that they exempt your cards from appeal. I've had to appeal virtually all the usd cards I've used for shopping – Klasha, Cardrypto, Spendwise, Bitmama, Grey and Bitnob –all of them.

Are these cards not in the name you used in opening account with AliExpress? That's strange.

The item has not been shipped. Any suggestion on how to avoid the high customs duties?

What kind of goods are you shipping?

Which country is it coming in from?

These two may determine the answers you get.

This is also my concern. The seller told me that if checked by customs I may be asked to pay duties. This is obviously too much. My item costs around this amount too.

Which courier was used to ship the item?

I've never appealed a card twice since I started buying things on AliExpress because my appeal is granted once I submit it.....

Your submitted information may not be detailed enough to warrant acceptance of the appeal.

As per delay in cash withdrawal from Bitnob card, you can chat their CC up.

Never had to appeal a card. If na juju, my own dey work wella. I just buy and it goes. No appeal. I funded my bitnob on first try with $400. Used it to buy things on Alibaba and no issue. I wonder what triggers this appeal thingie. Must be absent in my account.

I hail all our great solar gurus here.
I want to join the solar train now.
I already have a 4.2KVA 48V Genus inverter system with 4 units of 12V 200Ah Genus tubular batteries .
The next steps is to add panels and MPPT and the rest.
From what I have read here, I don’t want to over- invest and have wasted voltage capacity or underinvest.
I am buying Jinko panels from Fouani because I can access at dealer price.
I have options of 475W , 550W, 580W or 625W panels.
My installer is recommending just 6 panels to be connected in 3s2P.
Please which of the solar panel wattages above do you recommend I pick.
He also recommended 60A cc MPPT ( but I am thinking of 80A). Kindly advise

Buy as much PVs as you can without going into debt. Get a 120A charge controller for ease of future expansion. Thank you

Who has installed solar for something like this before?

What kind of solar set up will be able to power an ice block machine with 4 units of 2hp ACs ?
Each AC is estimated at 1500w and will be used during the day when there is no power and sparingly at night.

Get 60kw of PV and 120kwh of batteries. Then you are good to go.

Yes, they don't!. One of the reasons I stick to them!
It's an amazing platform for now.

The other day, a message popped up on the bitnot app where they were mocking the likes of Chipper cash and Grey for charging maintenance fee.

I also remember the day I opted for their virtual card, I was surprised to see that only $1 was charged for the card, though I had already prepared my mind for $3.

They are the best for now. Just made some pretty big funding with no issues with less fees. I'll be leaving Klasha as their cost is not friendly at all.

Makes sense. So is your recommendation to trim down to 4x 180w panels? The main need is just to be able to run the small fridge and computers and fan during the day. Or the fridge to run on battery overnight while computers and fan runs during the day.

Reduce to size the controller can handle or buy a bigger controller to accommodate more PV.

You mean you exceeded the maximum wattage rating for the cc?

In his case with a 60A cc, the maximum PV wattage supported should be (12V * 60A) 720w. His installer fed the cc with (180 * 6) 1080w from the panels.

Is the cc a pwm or mppt?

In some controllers, you can exceed the maximum rated wattage with no damage to the controller, but the issue is that the excess panels are just there doing no job. Eg if the maximum rated by a 60A controller @ 12v is 720w and you have 1200w PV connected to it. At most what you'll get out of it is that 720w, the remaining 480w PV is just there outside doing no work.

Thanks

You are better off sourcing cells and DIYing the battery side of it. You can always source inverter here.
