A major clampdown on the homes of leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) began in Osun State at nightfall on Friday, featuring armed and masked security agents. Sporadic shooting was also heard, striking terror into neighborhoods according to reports filed by citizens in Osun state. The Government Reservation Area home of Senator Bayo Salami was invaded by armed soldiers and security agents at midnight, as was the country home of the first civilian Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke. The entrance gate of Salami’s house was forced open by the hooded security agents who fired sporadically to gain entrance into the sprawling compound to arrest him. The homes of the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and that of the State Secretary of APC, Prince Gboyega Famoodun, were also invaded at midnight by armed soldiers. Also under arrest by armed soldiers and hooded security agents from their homes on Friday night were the State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Sikiru Adetona Ayedun; the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Wale Adedoyin; the Executive Secretary of Osogbo Local Government, Mr. Isiaka Faramade; the House of Assembly member representing Obokun and Ilesa State Constituencies, Hon. Femi Fafiyebi; as well as Folarin Fafowora. APC agents in Ifelodun and Ede South Local Governments were also being arrested at the time of distribution of election materials by officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) but those of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were excluded. The Ede South Local Government chairman of APC, Alhaji Surajudeed Opalola, was also arrested by the security agents, who were led by the Youth Leader of PDP in the council. Also arrested and whisked to the office of the State Security Service was Mr. Sunday Dare, a communication expert. Kunle Oyatomi, an APC spokesman, said in a swift reaction that the wave of arrests and intimidation would further deepen defeat of the PDP. "It is a shame this is happening. This is democracy and our people are resolute on electing the leader they can trust," Oyatomi said. Saharareporters learns that all the APC leaders arrested were later released by the security agents. |
An alleged plot to rig the August 9th 2014 gubernatorial election in Osun has been uncovered. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun has uncovered a very damaging document on how the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) intends to allegedly rig the ‘decisive election’. In the document which has been exclusively obtained by TODAY.NG and marked boldly as ‘CONFIDENTIAL’, a list of APC members to be arrested, PDP members to be provided a “strike force” and a detailed modus-operandi of the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) alleged plan to rig the election plus the projected results from the rigging exercise have all been highlighted. A summary of the highlighted plans as contained in page 1 of the document reads: De-register 47,000 by deleting their names from the Register. This is certainly to disenfranchise them on Saturday. Programmed ballot paper designed. By this, the import is that the voting becomes distorted in favour of the PDP through a chemical process. Programmed thumbprint. This is being done with a view of accounting for the lacunae created between those disenfranchised and those that failed to turn up for voting. Impression on the ballot papers Vanishing ink on the programmed ballot paper. These two processes are part of the grandplan to manipulate the process through scientific rigging. There was sharp disagreement between Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola and the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attaihru Jega, yesterday over how voters should handle ballot papers during Saturday’s governorship election in their various polling units. However, despite the disagreement, the INEC chairman assured the people of the state of a free and fair election. Both Aregbesola and the INEC chairman expressed divergent views at a stake holders’ forum organised by the commission on the forthcoming governorship election in the state. While Governor Aregbesola directed voters of All Progressives Congress (APC) to take pictures of their ballot papers before casting their votes, the INEC chairman opposed the idea Jega said: “I have been informed that a candidate told his supporters to take photographs of their ballot papers before casting their votes, I want to say that voters should disregard it. The law allows secrecy of balloting. You cannot go to the polling units and take photographs of ballot papers; therefore, you should disregard that.” He stated that the commission’s objective was to make every vote count in the country, noting that the electoral umpire was deter mined to conduct free, fair and credible election that would be difficult to challenge in any court of law. “Our goal in Osun State election is to make it the best ever conducted in Nigeria. The one, which the outcome will be difficult to dispute and the one, which winner will be the one the people want,” he said Jega urged politicians to avoid desperate ways of undermining the electoral processes, saying their actions had been detrimental to political system in the country. The INEC boss warned staff of the commission to be wary of the antics of politicians, saying they should not be induced and those falling short of the commission’s vision were on their own. |

The All progressive Congress (APC) has debunked claims of the Peoples Democratic Party that the APC plans to import people from all parts of the country for election fraud in the Osun governorship election that will hold on Saturday. The Commissioner for Information in Osun State, Sunday Akere, told Channels Television in Osogbo, the state’s capital, that the PDP’s claim was what the PDP was capable of doing. According to him, the APC has worked so hard and delivered on its promises to the people, which to him is an indication of victory. “Why should we rely on importing people when Osun electorates are in support of the continuation of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesolas Administration? ” He questioned. The APC has also been linked with the Boko Haram terrorist group by the ruling PDP, but Mr Akere also dismissed the claims, saying “it is left for God and time to reveal the true identity of the sponsors of the sect”. To ensure that the governorship election is credible, free and fair, the electoral commission has requested for huge presence of security officials in Osun State, but the decision did not go down well with the APC. Mr Akere bemoaned the heavy presence of security personnel, but stressed that it had no intimidation on any one, as the electorates would come out to vote and decide who governs the state on August 9, 2014. |
Which company do you prefer in the wrestling business, WWE or TNA Impact Wrestling. Back then in the 90s, WWE was the only wrestling company around and boasted a lot of stars like Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, The Undertaker and co and to the new millennium, the likes of John Cena , Randy Orton, Bobby Lashely, The Hardy brothers and a whole lot of them came and got us glued to our TV screen. But recently, the TNA impact wrestling company to me is gaining much popularity and they have stars like The "icon" Sting, Bobby Roode, Eric Young, Magnus, Austin Airies and many other superstars that are doing great things in the wrestling business...........As for me at the moment, I will go for TNA over WWE .........what's your view on this ![]() |

THE Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) suspended National Secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has said he cannot join the party’s governorship campaign train since his alleged suspension has not been lifted. Oyinlola also asked a former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Chief Olabode George, to speak on what the South-West PDP leaders discussed recently at his Abuja residence on the party’s National Secretary’s office. The former Osun State governor, who made the clarification in a statement yesterday, said the alleged endorsement of Prof. Wale Oladipo as the Southwest’s candidate for the office was contemptuous of the court. The statement said: “The party said I am on suspension and a suspended member of any organisation cannot be expected at the same time to be part of its activities. “Those who went to the Supreme Court should withdraw their appeal against the Court of Appeal decision which reinstated me as the party’s National Secretary. I call on the party to obey that verdict of the court on the post.” Oyinlola warned against sub judicial comments on the issue by some persons who claimed to have been part of the Southwest PDP leaders’ meeting. He said: “I have been reading some funny, sub judicial comments from some comical fellows purporting endorsement, at that meeting, of someone for a post that is subject of a case at the Supreme Court.” “One does not need to be a lawyer to know that it is not only futile, but contemptuous of our courts for a group of people to be making moves to overreach and undermine the justice system. “I am quite aware, through my sources at that meeting, that claims of endorsement of any pretender by the Southwest are false as no decision of such was reached.” The former governor urged a former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Chief Olabode George, to tell Nigerians the outcome of a recent meeting of South-West PDP leaders in his residence in Abuja. |

The campaign mega rally for the re-election of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in Osogbo Federal Constituency will hold today Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State. A statement by the Chairman and Secretary of the Aregbesola Campaign Committee for the federal constituency, Senator Bayo Salami and Barr. Kolapo Alimi, respectively said the event would double as the Osogbo Federal Constituency and the State Mega Rally. According to the statement, the rally will hold at the Osogbo City Stadium by 10 am. The Peoples Democratic Party held its mega rally last Saturday at the same venue with President Goodluck Jonathan, his vice, Arch. Namadi Sambo, the party national leadership and other chieftains in attendance. The ancient towns of Ile-Ife, Ilesa, and Ila Orangun have been identified as likely hotbed of political crisis that need to be kept under close security surveillance during the August 9 gubernatorial election in Osun State. This was part of the Election Security Threat Assessment carried out by CLEEN Foundation ahead of the polls. Ile-Ife is the hometown of Iyiola Omisore, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, while Rauf Aregbesola, the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), hails from Ilesa. The duo are considered the major contenders among the 20 aspirants participating in the election. Ila-Orangun is the hometown of Bisi Akande, APC chieftain and former governor of Osun State. Other potential flashpoints during and after the election include Iwo, Ikirun, Osogbo and Ede, the hometown of Isiaka Adeleke, another APC chieftain and former governor of Osun State, as well as Adejare Bello, Mr. Omisore’s running mate. According to the CLEEN Foundation’s Election Security Brief, unguarded statements, inflammatory and inciting comments by political gladiators in the state are contributory factors to violence. “Any perceived act of prejudice or bias by security agents in favour or against any of the contestants can resort to breakdown of law and order,” the study noted. Other violence-inducing factors, according to the assessment, include late arrival of election personnel and inadequate polling materials; inadequate security personnel at polling units; and biased and inaccurate media reportage of events around the election. “Unwarranted clampdown on opposition leaders as alleged in Ekiti State and overzealousness on the part of the security agents can be counter-productive as the people may resist any act of molestation or harassment,” the study stated. “Inability of some voters to collect their Permanent Voters Cards or to find their names on the Voters Register may cause some challenges at polling units. “A number of clashes have been reported to have taken place among the supporters of APC and PDP in some parts of the state. There were allegations of the supporters of these parties trying to outdo each other. These have led to injuries and destruction of properties. “Vote-buying as is currently being alleged is an incentive to violence and a great risk factor,” the study added. |

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo while answering questions from journalists at the Murtala Mohammed Local airport recently spoke about the forthcoming Osun Election, his stand as a PDP Member and also a bit about the presidency. Excerpts below: Q – Are you still a member of the PDP, people like Fayose, Buruji Kasamu and Bode George have alleged that you are already discussing with the opposition? Obasanjo – I am still a member of the PDP. Or do you want to pursue me out of PDP (laughs). Don’t forget, I am founding member of PDP, a party under which banner I became the President for 8years. I was later made the Chairman BoT. Why will I leave PDP, just because our Governors are leaving or how Jonathan has undermine the advice and activities of the Leaders within the party. No. PDP is a very big family, the largest party in Africa. When the time comes, we would re-unite and tighten loose end. Q – Are you going to support President Goodluck Jonathan for 2nd term Obasanjo – Is he contesting again? I have not been informed. Q – You were absent from the PDP rally in Ekiti where your estranged godson, Fayose won convincingly. Now, Osun elections will hold next week, what is your take on this? Are you going to campaign for Omisore? Obasanjo – See when it boils down to performance, overall development and general welfare of the people he governs in Osun, I salute his spirit. Aregbesola has changed what we used to know as Osun. And the physical manifestations are not only in papers but can be seen by even the PDP man. It is not about the party but the person who administers, Aregbesola has his weaknesses but he is above board. Don’t get me wrong Omisore has paid his dues in Osun politics, nobody is saying Omisore can’t contest, if I were him I would wait for this man to finish his 8years and then launch myself” |
hahahahaha! that's really funny. FFK must be a clown......The reason why people think cos PDP won in ekiti, then thats going to happen again in Osun never seize to surprise me. Omisore winning the forthcoming election in osun state then Bola Ige must be sleeping and even snoring in his grave.... |
A new controversy is brewing in Chibok village, with parents of the abducted girls alleging that they have been shortchanged by Chibok community leaders who received N100million cash gift from the Presidency, on their behalf. Although a presidential aide denied any such gift to Chibok parents, through their leaders, one parent, Mr Abdu Halidu, told the BBC that he got only N200, 000 from the money. Now the parents of the missing girls are saying that the amount shared to them is unacceptable. According to Mr Halidu “I got only N200, 000 out of the said N100 million. Some of us got N300,000 and some less than that. Our leaders in Abuja are using the girls to enrich themselves and this is unacceptable.” Continue... Over 200 schoolgirls were abducted by gunmen who stormed the Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, North-East Nigeria in the dead of the night of April 15, ordering all the girls out of their hostels into four lorries. On July 22, a special presidential meeting was held with the parents of the Chibok girls in the Presidential Villa which afforded the Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, the opportunity to empathize with the girls and their parents. The President, after assuring the Chibok community of his Government’s determination to ensure that the abducted schoolgirls that are still in captivity are brought out alive, reassured them that everything would be done to make things easier for them especially the ones that have already escaped and the ones yet to be rescued. President Jonathan also assured them that their education would not be allowed to suffer. The statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, after the meeting made no mention of a cash gift to the parents. Community Leaders Deny Meanwhile, the leadership of Kibaku community an umbrella body for the Chibok community has denied claims that money exchanged hands after the community’s meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan. National Publicity Secretary of the community, Mr Allen Manase, said that they also heard from the media that monies were given to the families of the abducted girls and such a story cannot be confirmed because they do not have any knowledge of the said exchange. He went on to say that even if monies were to exchange hands it should have been given to the leadership of the community to ensure that it gets to all affected persons. He urged the Federal Government to instead concentrate on rescuing the girls and returning them to their families and then it can decide to help in rehabilitating |
Louis van Gaal has warned Manchester United not to expect immediate results, claiming that it could take as long as three months for his methods to lead to results. After admitting on Monday that the United squad that he inherited was "broken", the former Netherlands boss has gone a step further in suggesting that it could take a while to fix the problems inherent in the club and get the squad to adapt to his style. Van Gaal told reporters on the club's pre-season tour of the United States in Washington, DC: "Every club where I have been, I've struggled for the first three months |
