Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by meadeh77: 2:27am On May 22, 2021
MY LANDING GIST A YEAR AFTER
I was to leave for Canada March18th of last year, I stopped going to work the last day of February. On the D-day I said my goodbyes to family and friends, got to the airport with my parents and sister only for them to tell me that Canada has closed their borders and it started 12am of 18th, the lady finished it by saying if my flight was 17th I would have been able to fly. The drive from Lagos back to ibadan was as if someone died, I cried like there was no tomorrow. I dey think that my village people follow me reach, a lot of questions were on my mind, why was it the day I that i picked to travel? Etc. I got back home, told myself they will soon open the border and everything will be fine only for Nigeria to start their own lockdown on March24th telling us it will only be for 4weeks. March 25th or 26th i am not sure of the date, Canada said anyone that got PPR before March 18th can now enter the country which was a relief to me, I was waiting for the 4weeks lockdown to end so I can reschedule flight but Naija no gree open border after 4weeks which caused another premium tears for me. Those of us that wanted to travel formed a WhatsApp group(thankful for that group),people started talking to airlines, private planes etc. Airpeace told us that they were going to pick Nigerians in Canada that wanted to come home and if we were interested we can pay and they will take us to Canada if we had the right documents, naso another payment was made to airpeace o. Travelled down to Lagos again two days to the flight because of the roadblocks, the evening before the D-day(13th May) airpeace sent a message to everyone of us that the flight will not be going due to logistics issues. At this point I had left everything to God because my documents were going to expire May30th, I told my parents I will stay back in Lagos just incase anything changes with Airpeace (I didn't want to deal with the roadblocks set-up by the police again) and if nothing changes I will come back to ibadan after my documents expire. Naso I moved from the hotel to my friend's parents house note that my friend was already in Canada at this time and I didn't tell her I was in her parents house because she was so worried for me and already calling me up to 10x a day (Her parents were so wonderful, infact her mum started a prayer session for me). The plan was that once its 5days to documents expiry I was going to raise a webform to inform IRCC of the travel delay. On the 20th May  i got to know that an evacuation flight(Ethiopian Airlines)was leaving on the 21st of May, I quickly sent an email to them and they got back to me at 1:22am(midnight) I kuku could not sleep with the way I was sending reminders to them throughout the night. They said I should send my documents and later sent the amount I was tobpay and the bank accounts I can pay to;it was citi bank, gtb and zenith, I paid into citibank BIG MISTAKE. Ethiopian Airlines got back to me and said I should be at the airport early to get my ticket and the flight was leaving 1:30pm, I went to wakeup my friend's parents to tell them;this was around 3:30am the dad said I should not bother to sleep (SLEEP KE) because we have to leave the house by 5am due to lagos traffic. We got to the airport around 6:30,I was the first on the queue. At 9am they started telling us to enter, they weighed my bag and I got to where to collect boarding pass they said my ticket is not ready I SAID WHAT DO YOU MEAN ha my VILLAGE PEOPLE OOOO they told me to go upstairs to their office to get the ticket, after queueing outside the office upstairs for more than 1hour it eventually got to my turn, they checked and said they can't find my payment,it was like pe my ears were paining me,I said its not possible na money that I paid from two accounts, how can you not see the two payments I showed them all the references for the payments but they no gree. They said I should wait that the list o still been sent by their finance director na so 12noon reach, they still cannot find my payment.  That was how I begged for the number of their finance director, they gave me the number when I called and explained to the director he said he will check that I should stay on the phone (BEFORE NKO) that was when he said he can't find the payment naso another premium tears start o.
He said he will check to make sure and call me back, when he eventually called it was around 2pm to tell me he still could not find my two payments, plan was supposed to leave at 1:30 but because of them not coordinating well they moved it to 3pm. I was hopeful that before 3pm they should have found my payment all this with the workers in the office telling me to go and stay outside until my issue is resolved, I told them only if they can carry me because I no stand on top their heads. 3pm reach and they still could not find my payment, naso the director said he just realised that payment to citibank does not reflect on the same day ,abeg why did you people add it to the bank accounts we can pay into. That was when they started saying the plane will leave soon that maybe I should make another payment and figure this out later(if I hear) so I should pay another 1.1m again where do you people want me to find it. That was how they received a call from their head office saying the plane must not take off until everyone that paid has boarded, during this time I was looking for citibank contact. My mum eventually got a contact and sent it to me. On speaking to the contact she connected me to her boss, the boss checked the transaction on the account and said the money went through, she proceeded to ask me for the number of the director and I gave it to her. Shortly after the director called me to tell me that he just spoke to citibank and they have confirmed my payment and he will send a mail that they should give me a boarding pass. People of God I borded the plane 5:30pm and the plane left around 5:45pm. PART2 COMING.....

Congratulations. I got mine on the 23rd. The patience is not easy.
SirKastic:
Silent reader PPR alert *Tearssssss shirt* for special effect!!

Decision to travel - Since I was old enough and realised our leaders will not allow Nigeria harness her full potential.

I initially wanted to go for my Msc in Canada but opted for UK cos of family ties there. After my MSc in UK (2013), I moved back to naija to resume at my job from study leave, and within the first few month being back, I knew I had made a mistake coming back to this country - It was depressing sometimes, especially if you've lived in a developed country where the system works. January 1st 2018, I decided to stop complaining and do something about it. Spoke with a friend who had just moved to Canada with his family and he gave me the load down. I booked IELTS in March 2018 and this marked my battle to pass 'common english' test (imagine),I kept falling short of .5 in listening - aced it at the 4th attempt with 8778. While battling IELTS, I did WES for my Msc - this bit was easy as it was a UK uni.

ITA

Armed with 8778 and CRS of 456, I was confident as ITA scores was still within 440s - ITA came April 19th, 2019. Got PCC for UK and Naija (Abuja) - pretty straight forward. Did medicals with IOM - they gave me a mini scare asking about HIV and if im sexually active (for my mind I say so na so all my sins & village people wan take finally get me now) but thankfully, everything came out clean (E b like say make i photocopy the result hang for my parlour). sigh of relief.

POF

Had some bread saved up and while discussing with my father to update him of my decision to relocate, I mentioned POF and he decided to give me POF -correct guy. Got a gift deed and notarised it, bought T-bills and added my own savings as a buffer.

EMPLOYMENT

I have over 10 years experience in HR but claimed points for the last 3 years in and added the following:
Employment letter
Confirmation letter
promotion letters
Reference letter
Pay stubs
Bank statement ( highlighted salary inflow)
T-Bills from my personal savings (buffer)

AOR: May 25th 2019 then the journey began.....

I hoped this would be speedy as I noticed February AOR got PPR within 3 months. My rent was getting due and i really didn't want to renew it so this got me tensed at some point. You see, patience had never been one of my virtues but this process taught me a lesson - there's nothing you can do about it than to just chill and live your life. I couldn't make immediate plans, buy certain stuffs, or commit to things cos I was waiting for golden mail (na wa!). At some point you start questioning your application and if you filled everything right.
I made a conscious decision not to order GCMC notes or call. However, I raised a CSC on the 5th month to find out my VO. they responded about a week later - Ottawa CPC. Got invited to May AOR group on Telegram ... there were lots of jokes and it helped take the pressure off although eh, Inidan people can worrrryyyyyyy.. loll. I gave in to small pressure and mailed Ralph to ask about my application as I read he's usually helpful - the man nor even answer me, I later learnt he lost his re-election bid.. so I nor blame am. The wait continued.

November 13th I got a mail for ADR for Record of Government Employment, I responded same day and then long silenceeeeee. After hanging out with my colleagues on December 24th, I got home and later at night i lazily checked my mail only to find Ready for Visa email staring at me.. jaw dropped... Christmas came early for me.

Ive been on this Nairaland page mostly as an observer but I learnt alot. The depth of info I gathered from here was amazing, reading other people's story and being happy when they announced their PPR kept me going and knowing my turn will come one day. I'll just like to add that what ever stage you are at now, keep pushing and taking it one step at a time. Set a time frame to get things done and you'll get there too. cheers to you all and I wish we all get to our destination and live a fulfilled life.

AOR May 25th
Med Passed July 5th. silencee
Raised 2 CSC - 1 know VO - Ottawa and the other after the 6th month for application update
ADR Nov13th - Government Employment Records
PPR December 24th
Single Guy ...maybe the LOML is inside the Canada sef waiting for me..lol

Season greetings to you all!!

Thank you.
BoazBoo:
Just go ahead and submit. I had the same issue and everyone told me to renew the passport. I called 2 immigration officers, in different states, who told me 32pages passport was not available, but I could go for 64leaves with 10years validity for 90k. In fact someone told me no airline will airlift me with the 4months validity. It has to be 6months or nothing. I just told myself if God be for me, no pali can be against me. I submitted my passport with the 4 months validity and got it back with immigrant visa and COPR. I also had an hitch free transmission at all airports including our MM1. Landed in Ottawa last week Sunday and i have been using my passport like that. Will renew it when im ready

Thanks,will do that.
AdaZion2018:

Are you sure you calculated this well including skills transferability? Age is on your side and you scored a clb 9 in 2 aspects and a clb 10(speaking) and 12 (reading)

https://www.centennialcollege.ca/programs-courses/centres-institutes/ielts-test-centre/test-results/canadian-language-benchmarks/

Use the above link to know your clb score in each aspect

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/criteria-comprehensive-ranking-system/grid.html

And this link to manually calculate your score. The crs tool I don't think has the skills transferability mark and that's like a 100 extra. This is where the importance of having a good ielts score comes into play.

With the credentials you stated above, you can get 441 by improving your IELTS. You'll need at least 8.5L and 7.5 in speaking, assuming your reading and writing stays the same.
You can also register for a post graduate course as OP suggested, but if I were in your shoes I'll go with the first option. Cheers

I will look into doing this. Although I was also advised to recalculate.

Go to Nigeria open university and register for a postgraduate diploma of any course of your choice . Application and payment closes on the 18th of this month. I read here that if you choose to complete a pgd with them, one stands a chance to finish by december.. This will add additional marks to gain 2 or more degree s

Thanks, I will try this.
