Aguero scored 18 goals, Tevez scored 28 goals and Higuain scored 29 goals. Besides, its not by like that |
Nobody saw Schiavone coming. I thought this was gonna be a walk in the park for Stosur considering how far she has come beating the likes of Henin and Serena . Schiavone really surprised everyone winning 6-4 7-6. |
Slovakia beat Costa Rica 3-0 |
I wonder what kind of world cup this will be with all the big names getting injured. |
@honeric01 the SA embassy should publish the names of the visa applicants so we'll know the ghost delegates |
I wonder why NFF will reverse NPL's decision to banish Pillars to Calabar. Why will NFF order Pillars to move to Abuja instead of Calabar? The idea behind banishing a team is for it to play without its fans support. Is moving Pillars to Abuja a blessing or punishment considering the distance between Abuja and Kano. I think Pillars officials have bribed the NFF. |
One of the committee members, Princess Bola Jegede in the catering committee is supposed to be busy with the U-23 Falcons that will be playing in Germany after the world cup and she's busy trying to go to SA to cook for the Super eagles. These people deserve death by firing squad |
definitely a big blow to the Super eagles. I really expected Mikel to shine. |
200 people, 14 committees. They should all be jailed |
The North Koreans may want to help their neighbours, South Korea by taking out our star players. Lagerback should use his brain o! The last thing we need is a depleted squad |
Slovenia yesterday defeated New Zealand 3-1. Novakovic opened scoring for Slovenia before Fallon equalised for the Kiwis. Novakovic then added a second before Kirm added the third just before half time. |
They should just be careful. Safety first |
Italy play maker Andrea Pirlo has emerged as a doubt for world cup finals having returned home after sustaining a calf injury http://soccernet.espn.go.com/team/_/162/italy?cc=3888&ver=global |
Are we the only team going to the world cup? |
Nadal has won 2 sets and currently leading the third set but its not yet over, Melzer came from two sets down to beat Djokovic but a repeat of that is highly unlikely |

Chile finished 2nd behind Brazil. Paraguay finished 3rd, Argentina 4th and Uruguay 5th and had to play a playoff against Costa Rica |
I see Spain finishing on top of this group with 9 points. They've finished with 9 points in the group stages of the last two world cups. The second spot will be keenly contested between Switzerland and Chile. Chile finished 2nd in the South American qualifiers and that is a huge achievement in a region where you have Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil. Switzerland were also impressive in the qualifiers, finishing on top and sending Greece to the playoffs. They were impressive in the last world cup where they were knocked out in the last 16 by Ukraine despite not conceding a goal through the tournament. The key match in this group will Switzerland vs Chile. Honduras are the underdogs here but you can not really write them off. With the likes of Suazo, Palacios, Figueroa, a place in the last 16 is not too tall a dream for the Hondurans. My prediction is: 1. Spain 2. Switzerland 3. Chile 4. Honduras |
Serbia will win. They have more quality and secondly, Ghana's coach, Milovan Rajevac is a Serb. He might want to do his home a little favour |

Japan trail Ivory Coast in a warm up game for SA 2010. Didier Drogba's deflected freekick the only goal so far but Drogba has been substituted in what appears to be an injury after a tackle from a Japan's Marcus Tulio Tanaka. Drogba limped off two minutes after scoring, apparently with an injury to his groin and right hip |
Apart from Di Natele and Alberto Gilardino the rest of the Azzuri's attackers have had a rather horrendous season. Vicenzo Iaquinta and the entire Juve team have been exceptionally poor. Giampaolo Pazzini and Quagliarella have been average. Di Natele was the highest goal scorer in the Serie A with 28 goals, but he finds it hard to replicate his club form for country, scoring just 5 goals in over 30 appearances. The Azzuri's might goals hard to come by but will rely on an experienced midfield with Andrea Pirlo, Genarro Gattuso, Mauro Camoranesi and Daniele De Rossi, who was exceptional with Roma. Their strong point will as usual be the defence. The defence is a blend of experience with the likes of Cannavaro, Giorgio Chiellini, Gianluca Zambrotta and youth in Domenico Criscito and Leornadi Bonnuci. They have the superman, Gianluigi Buffon, in between the sticks but he isnt quite the Buffon we used to know and has had a poor season with Juve. Qualification wont come easy for the Azzuri's here. |
Its going to be a walk in the park for Stosur in the final. Stosur plays like a man. There's a lot of power in her serves. The thing with female tennis is that there's no consistency so might just fizzle out after this |
If the NFF had or is doing its job, there wouldn't be need to start luring players to play for the Super Eagles given the talents abound in the league. |
I wont be surprised at all. This group truly is a group of possibilities. Apart from New Zealand every other team has a good chance of making it through. Paraguay have the best attack in this group with Oscar Cardozo who has been on fire this season, banging in goals endlessly, 36 in 42 games for Benfica and Lucas Barrios has also done well for Dortmund. He was third highest goal scorer in the Bundesliga. They also have Cristian Riveros who just transfered to Sunderland. He's an excellent midfielder. I think Slovakia has enough quality to make through the next round. Marek Hamsik is one of the most wanted midfielders in Europe and Chelsea in particular have been constantly linked with him. He's a very good goal scorer and if he turns up then Slovakia must be feared. They also have Miroslav Stoch, on loan from Chelsea at Twente. He had a wonderful season and was instrumental in their Eredivisie win. There's Skrtel too who is always solid at the back. I think the star game in this group will be Par vs Slov |
The Organising and Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has ordered a replay in the abandoned game between Sunshine Stars of Akure and Enyimbd of Aba. The committee noted that based on the report of the match commissioner and centre referee, it is proper that they replay the match. The committee also said Enyimba will pay N 500,000 before the game which will take place in Akure, June 16th. Enyimba is presently second on the league table with 59 points with a game in hand. The committee also ruled that Kano Pillars will play one game in Calabar but will finish the season in Abuja after they were banished for their supporter http://www.npl.com.ng/news.php?id=13 |
Shiavone has really tried. I didnt know her before this tourney |
New Zealand will today take on Slovenia as part of its preparations for the world cup. The match will be played by 8:45 PM Slovakia will square up against Costa Rica tomorrow by 5:00 PM |
^^^From the early 90's through the mid and up till the late 90's, the English league was not recognized as one of the top leagues in Europe. The major leagues in Europe during this period were the Serie A, Eredivisie, Bundesliga and the La Liga. Ajax appeared in two successive champions league in 95 and 96, winning in it 95. |
After everything Kanu has given to this country both on field and off field, it is very unfair for anybody to denigrate his achievements or relevance in Nigeria's football history. Some of you think its until you score a truck load of goals, you are not relevant, how wrong. Even though Kanu is not the best goal scorer we have, he has always stood out in most of the games in the Green and White of Nigeria thanks to his unrivalled trickery and ingenuity. The same 2004 you said Kanu stopped being useful was when his brilliant pass to John Utaka, gave us victory over Cameroon in the Nations Cup hosted in Tunisia. This same Kanu in 2008 single handedly took Portsmouth to the FA Cup victory scoring a vital goal against Man Utd and supplying the assist in the final for Utaka for them to win the cup. Lagerback selecting Kanu in his final 23 is no mistake, he knows his worth. |
