game's on the way. Japan are looking impressive |
Afellay's effort just got cleared off the line. He and Elia are causing a lot of troubles. Demy de Zeuw is about to come on, another guy to watch out for |
goal!!! kuyt |
Etuhu had the guts to complain, shameless homo sapien |
Eljero Elia brilliantly gets around two Danish defenders but nothing comes out of it |
very boring game. i'm feeling sleepy |
one player to watch out for in the Dutch team is Ibrahim Afellay. I dont know if he'll get a starting shirt but he's a really good player. |
Ledley King should just quit football. His body cant take it, he is too injury prone. He trains just twice a week. |

dayokanu:ur point? we played badly and people have deliberately refused to see that and instead they are saying that they saw an improvement. we cant beat any team the way we played. |
^^^ the Argentines could have been exposed. Mascherano and Veron owned the midfield because we gave them the time and space. They were actually horrible but they were playing against a team that gave them the midfield as a present. I honestly think the Argentines'll find it hard against the Koreans. Lagerback was stiff tactically. He couldnt adjust the formation to hurt Argentina after they had showed us their vulnerability. There was no intent in their play, no urgency. Apparently, our game plan was for the players to relax and allow Enyeama do all the heroics. If Amodu had been in charge people saying the performance was okay would be saying something different. |
I just got off the phone with Lippi ![]() He will be using his preferred 4-3-3 formation. The probable starting 11 will be: Buffon Criscito Zambrotta Chielini Cannavaro Marchisio Pirlo De Rossi Di Natale Gillardino Iaquinta |
i believe these vuvuzelas can stir up violence in players. In a situation where the players are tensed up when the game is not going their way coupled with the vuvuzela's noise, the players will become hyper |
@ tkb off topic: hope you know Nadal has been disgraced at the Aegeon Masters. He lost in straight sets to Feliciano Lopez. Cant wait for Wimbledon. |
Best game so far and the Australians did not do badly. Germany played football. The understanding between the players is wonderful. These guys can win the cup. |
The only thing that saved us from a drubbing was Enyeama and such performances dont come everyday. What if Enyeama had a bad bay. Was our game plan to allow the Argies have a field day and have Enyeama save us? If we play like this against Greece then our WC sojourn is over |
what y'all are failing to get is that yes, we played an Argentinian side boasting of the very best of attacking talent but are very ordinary as a team. We made them look great because we simply couldnt attack. We had just one shot on target, why? Its not that the Argentinian defence was superb, we just did not put pressure on them. There's no team we can beat the way we played yesterday. |
soceroos will do it ![]() |
Ghana won because they did not adopt a 'siddon look' style of play like Lagerback and his boys. |
He should be sacked ASAP! Amodu is miles better than this guy |
shots on target: Argentina 7 Nigeria 1 the Argentines werent so invincible, we lost because No meaningful technical input from Lagerback: He got it all wrong; formation, selection, tactics and every other area you can put technicality into. We had no visible game plan. We couldnt contain them in the middle, what stopped him from telling the boys to defend sturdily, park the 'airplane'? The midfield ceased to exist. Etuhu was drowned in the game. Why couldnt he replace him? Worse still, the Argentines showed us their vulnerability yet he couldnt tell the boys to take advantage. Veron was making wrong passes, perhaps, if we had charged him, we would have gained control of the midfield. Jonas is not a natural right back and if we had pressurized him enough, we could have gotten something out of this game. No team in this tournament will give them the room we gave them. The Argentine team were not so super, Lagerback's technical ineptitude made them appear invincible |
Paraguay will do all the play but the Azurri will hold them to a draw |
England wont make it out of this group. |
draw |
That game was nothing to write home about. It would have been a different tale if it hadnt been for Enyeama. Maybe if Enyeama had had a bad game you would have noticed how apathetic our display was. The official stats showed that we had just one shot on target. I dont know if the players were star struck. They just gave Argentina all the room they needed. We allowed them go 'Barcelona' on us. Etuhu was the weakest link in the team, what stopped Lagerback from subbing him? The Argentine team were very vulnerable but we couldnt just attack. They couldnt put pressure on them. Like I said earlier, Lagerback's inefficiency cost us the game. There was no improvement of any sort what i saw was retrogression. |
LOL! i gave my mom a copy too. |
our performance was apathetic and pathetic. It was nothing to write home about. They lacked purpose. No team in the world not even New Zealand would allow Argentina all that time and space. We had the ball once every 5 minutes. We launched an attack once every 10 minutes and that is what you call a superlative performance. |
@maedan it depends on how a coach uses his players. Siasia used some of these boys and we held our own against these Argies. Yes, some of the players are irredemably hopeless but Lagerback himself was absolutely clueless. |
@ sapele guy u're so right. Lagerback is bleeping clueless. There was no purpose and urgency. It was like we were playing not to play. Amodu would have performed better. Even if we couldnt close down the Argies we would have defended doggedly but we did nada! The midfield was not existing. Etuhu was drowned in the game. Lagerback didnt even know what to do. He was just looking difident and hopeless |
Lagerback's technical inefficiency cost us the game. There was simply no technical input from him. This was his first major test and his performance woeful. The selection, the formation, tactics were just horrible. The team lacked purpose, cordination, organization. There was no urgency in their play. I wonder what people see as decent in this criminal performance. One attack every 20 minutes? Lagerback has nothing to offer |
Mukina, wasnt Robert Green just fantastic? I think he deserves the man of the match award |
