Billions of Naira is spent on their training and maintenance and yet what we get in return are a set of cowards that run like skunks when faced with real action! Boko haram has been killing and maiming us for more than a year now and our military keep bragging of achieving great success in fighting then and yet boko boys keep killing and maiming innocent Nigerians almost on daily basis – all the so called soldiers does best is to go on rampage and pour their anger on the already frustrated citizens anytime one of their useless mates are killed by boko!

Internationally, their performance was so shameful that the British had to call for an overhaul of the entire military system in Nigeria!

SHAMEFUL AND DISGRACEFUL ACTS OF NIGERIAN SOLDIERS!
Colonel is one of the most respected ranks in the military worldwide- they are seen as an embodiment of discipline and a major source of courage to the force! But in Nigerian military, a colonel is the chairman of corruption, indiscipline and abject disregard for human right! rap!ng women and teenagers! 16 yr old girl in Kaduna was forcefully raped by a colonel [only god knows how many he has raped and killed! – in a sane society his type would av been waiting for his time on the electric chair but in Nigeria, he is still wearing his ranks and freely committing more atrocities! What a shame! [Spits on his uniform!]

A colonel [who is supposed to be an embodiment of the rule of law] – is arrested by a “civilian” governor for driving on the wrong side of the traffic! what have you got to say to that!

Harassing, maiming and killing innocent civilians at the slightest or no provocation have become the hallmark of our soldiers! Can u imaging a so-called soldier [supposedly trained to be a gentleman and a respecter of human rights] kill an un-armed civilian whose crime is -telling the soldier that it is ungentlemanly to manhandle a lady - and the lady in question is the soldiers girlfriend!

Normally I don’t have time for foo!s like you but I just felt I should set the record straight for some who may see things your way!

Wsdm: What baffled me is Nigerians approach to sensitive national issues. If these personnel are to be charged with laxity, then many so called government officials should also be charged by the populace for underperformance. Is it enough to barricade the roads and feel you are curbing terrorism? Are the military personnel spirit to be able to see through a car ridden with bomb? Why can't the government use the huge budget on security to procure latest gadgets to detect these boys from a far? It is clear that corruption is at work again.

Nextworldnx: My dearest katsina(KT), I can't help but smile even as am writting this. That state is the most peaceful state in Nigeria, Gosh, I love that state.
The camp is like a 3-star hotel with an NYSC billboard, u will love it. Its very clean, have all sockets functioning, taps all around, tiled parade ground, nice football pitch, basketball and volleyball courts. Batch C 2010/2011 set, I had the best 3 weeks of my life in that camp. If u drink and u are a sharp man then drinks will flow like water, if u wanna get laid and u re a player then girls are ever willing (I was getting BJs steady and all those handjobs and not frm one chick), but if u are a pastor- then fellowships "boku".
Outside camp na complete enjoyment - beautiful roads (the best road network I ve seen outside Abuja) I mean not one single pot-hole in the whole katsina town(hqtr)!!, Fadama tins, Mai kudi hotel tins, shekina resturant tins, shayo and ashi joints at IBB way very close to GTB, Goma guest inn tins, one of the best living faith church branch I ve set my eyes on ever(interms of design and beauty).
I stayed in Kaita LGA but visited Batagaranwa, dutsima, Mai yadua, funtua, Sandamu, DuaRa, Mashi, Niger Repulblic, etc.
God, where I no go? Wetin I no do? Is it quarels and fights wit fellow corpers? Is it d everyday partying @ kaita's corpers lodge or hanging out with our honourable house member in his charlet every other weekend? Abi na dey small church wey we dey do fellowship everyother day(Pst. Ekene and family, I miss u)

Its the mindset, everytime we go to camp to bring in new corpers, some will be crying, others will be screaming redployment but when we orientate them, they become smtin else.

VolvoS60: ^^^^About 3 years ago, a soldier in army uniform drove recklessly on Adetokunbo Ademola Street in V/I's early morning traffic, causing slight damage to my vehicle. He sped off. I followed and caught up with him on Ahmadu Bello Way, forcing him to stop and step out of his van. I came out of my vehicle and challenged him. He dared me to do my worst, got into his van and sped off once again. The chase continued up to Bonny Camp. Unfortunately,I lost him in traffic. I drove into Bonny camp and lodged a complaint but I knew it was over. The soldiers on duty inside Bonny Camp made some sympathetic noises but the matter died there and then.

The above was MY personal experience. Not anybody else's. I have also been a witness to several other examples of military madness - military personnel refusing to pay transport fares because they are "staff" (whatever that means), military personnel violently harassing motorists for slowing down in heavy traffic (on a public road!) in front of military establishments (so-called military zones ), military personnel engaged in extortion on the highways,etc. The list is endless.

I don't know you sir, but your quote about "cultivating a degree of respect in generalising about the NA" says it all. Respect, sir ? I have not yet had any interraction (of any kind!) with any Nigerian military personnel in which they (to the last man) do not display a sense of entitlement which beggars belief. This can be traced in part to the warped indoctrination which takes place in Nigeria's barracks, military secondary schools, the NDA, etc. Upon close scrutiny, one begins to wonder what justifies the arrogance. South Korean generals seized power in the first half? of the last century and put their country on the path to industrialization. The rules were clear: any South Korean steel plant which didn't measure up to expectation was destroyed with military ordinance. We can all see what South Korea has become today. Nigerian generals on the other hand, are better known for their bacchanalian excesses with alcohol, pepper soup and women of easy virtue. Is it any surprise that Ajaokuta has become a museum piece today?

I'll say this anywhere, anytime. I have gained nothing from the Nigerian military. Nothing whatsoever.

where it is due we (naija) have praised the heroics of the selfless actions of the military, say there resolve in the face of boko haram insurgency. but it doesnt stop rebuking their irresponsibility towards civilians.

1. If YOU as a "military man" hits a "civilians" vehicle and you are at fault, DO YOU APOLOGIZE AND PAY FOR REPAIRS immediately?

2.) If YOU DONT APOLOGIZE (despite being obviously at fault), do you think it is right, acceptable and you will agree that the "Civilian" beat you to PULP?
