Do you think we would have stood more chance of winning with Rohr?
Rohr is actually a poor tactician and therefore not in the discussion.
But we should not overrule the possibility of Rohr winning' the trophy.

I prefer Eguavoen to Rohr for many reasons.
I just highlighted an odd that i am witnessing.

Losing sleep has to do with little time for preparation. Not just drafting the list. Eguavoen needs to draw a formula from for the team.

He needs to start doing research on the opposition.

He needs to come up with strategic approach for each game.

Doing all these with little time will mean the head coach will need some sleepless nights to catch-up.

This is a mind set of a winner. Mbok.
Telling us he is losing sleep is not necessary. I don't like it when people place too much emphasis on effort and exhaustion, there are poor reasons why people do that. The right effort will always require the least energy.

He has been part of the technical crew ergo the players abilities and potentials are not supposed to be new to him. The same also applies to him as a football lover and fan. Was it not on this thread that TheSuperNerd kept on harping on the need for a midfield dictator in the persons of Yusuf and Nwakali. Were you not the person that said Ejuke should be utilised properly in the offensive areas of the midfield ( i can quote that post if you require me to do so). You guys don't even witness these players live on training sessions, and still was able to come up with those. Tell me where the sleeplessness is coming from.

Coming out to sing about his sleeplessness is not good.

Eguavoen coming out in the open to tell us how he lost sleep drafting the 28 man list makes it look like he might not win the AFCON.

I have seen this kind of behaviour more in losers.

I pray he meets people that can help change his thinking and approach.
I pray we lift the AFCON trophy.

I wasn’t against balogun because he is one of naija most important player but putting an uncapped nwakali with him is pure nonsense ,allow nwakali to play for the eagles and perform and stop being faster than your shadows

There is no need to quote my post after the afcon ,how can you say nwakali is among naija top players after ndidi and osimhen ,someone that’s yet to be capped is already among the top players

As it is now ,nwakali is not among naija top 20 performers and you are putting him along side ndidi osimhen balogun ,he can be among naija top performers later if he comes good ,

How many free kick nwakali has nwakali scores for his club side since he is a free kick specialist

Las las say no to mpuru mmiri

Ndidi our number 1 player followed closely by osimhen and that’s pure facts ,but which one be nwakali balogun Ejuke Chuks others and the rest ,I don’t understand this

Is there anything nwakali has done for the eagles that I don’t know ,even ejuke self ?

Omo see as person rank nwakali above others cheesy cheesy
We don't have any defender better than Balogun, not even Awaziem. We struggle without him.

I don't need to talk much about Nwakali, I will quote your post after the AFCON, that is if Nwakali gets the opportunity to perform.

In the last six games, starting only two games and making two substitute appearances, and despite our poor performances in attack, Ejuke has two attempts at goal, and has at least made three key passes. Name any winger who has done so.

Iwobi has two assists in his last three games. This is good.

Remember i said these players bring something unique.
Balogun is a our only ball playing central defender.
Ndidi makes vital blocks and interceptions, and very good in reading the opponents and snuffing out threats.
Nwakali is a good freekick taker in addition to his ball distribution skills and contributions to defense. Only Ndidi, Onyeka and Etebo have an edge over him in defensive contributions.
Iwobi's assists speaks for him
Ejuke and Chuks are players who can create chances for themselves out of nothing and also create for others.
I don't need to talk about Osimhen

U praise him like u are related or is he your brother
Nwakali is not even better than Bonke and e u are saying he is far tactical than Aribo.

Do you even watch Rangers match?
Yes he is more tactical, technical and makes more contributions to defense than Aribo.
These qualities makes a midfielder.

Aribo is a more of a forward.

Ndidi has flopped in SE , big time. So, the question about his marvelous status in EPL is irrelevant here. If his presence is weakening the team let him sit.
Why do we always go on to concede whenever Ndidi is absent.

Ndidi is our number one player followed closely by Osimhen, then Nwakali, Balogun, Ejuke, Chuks, Dennis, Iwobi, Awaziem and the rest.

These players are unique and very outstanding and will always have a way of asserting their presence on the field of play.
They make very unique contributions.

Danielnino00:
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.
Sequel to my post yesterday where I expressed my intention to take over the responsibility of organising the annual Nairaland Nigeria Football award as requested by Icon4s this year, I'm glad to announce that the award would go ahead as planned, and I'll be coordinating it with Drklever.

Three people from this thread will join the nomination committee alongside me and Drklever, with icon4s being a honorary member.

On this note, members of the thread are to nominate 3 monikers they wish to be part of the committee. Unlike how it was previously done where we would nominate only one moniker, I suggest we nominate 3 each so as to make it more flexible and have more people nominated.
Here's how the nomination selection will be sorted;
3 points would be awarded to the first name nominated, 2 points to the second and 1 point to the last.
Example: I nominate Danielnino00, Drklever and icon4s. in this case, Danielnino00 will have 3 nomination point, Drklever will have 2 and icon4s will have 1.
At the close of the nomination process, the 3 monikers with the most points will be added to the committee. Any moniker that's selected to the committee but doesn't wish to participate for any reason whatsoever will be replaced by the another one from below the top 4.
Nomination starts now and close on Monday, December 27th 2021.

Thank you.
.

I nominate:

TheGoodJoe.
Safarigirl.
BascoVanVeli.

It seems you have a different definition from everybody in here and possibly the world in general.

Because to talk about technicality and give these example, says you have different eyes from everybody else.
Simply admit that you do not know the definition of technique.

Talking about technique, Kelechi Iheanacho, Paul Onuachu and Victor Osimhen all have more technique than Samuel Chukwueze. Samuel Chukwueze has more technique than Joe Aribo, and Joe Aribo has more technique than Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis.

Kelechi Iheanacho, Paul Onuachu and Victor Osimhen are players that are very underrated on this platform, but we do not know what we have.

Should i also add that kelechi Nwakali has more technique than Joe Aribo and is by far a better midfielder.

That is just one small aspect. I have my own term of technique.

Technique is what you can do with the ball. Is as simple as that. From passing to tricks. Is all technique.

Dribbling skills is technique too.
Thank you Sir.

I can't thank you enough.

Technique is not step over and dribbles bro, currently Aribo has the best first touch in the world (go and check football manager) and it is an insult to compare him to Ejuke on technique
If dribbling is all you see in Ejuke's game, then maybe you don't know the player that i am talking about, or you don't watch him.

Talking about technique, Aribo doesn't come close. Do you know that Iheanacho, Iwobi, should i add Nwalkali, and even Victor Osimhen have more technique in their game than your Aribo.

It is obvious some of us on this thread doesn't know what technique in football is.

Ejuke even gonna laughs at idea of playing him in No. 10. He's a good Dribbler, but poor in decision making. I don't know if Nwakali still has it in his Sleeves, cos I'll rather playing him in the hole than Ejuke.
Is Iwobi better in decision making than Ejuke?

I have been reading Ejuke is poor in decision making and i want to address that misinformation.

I am not in any way saying he should man the AM role.
He suits best as a winger.

There is nothing special about the AM role.
Wingers can also dictate play and create goal scoring chances.
Wingers can link the midfield with the attack. EJuke does that for CSKA Moscow from the wings, his speed and technique enables him to do that.

I also want to point out the fact that no player in the current crop has more technique than Ejuke. Even Ebere Eze and Olise do not show the same level of technique as Ejuke.

Iwobi and Ejuke are even better candidates for the AM role than the Aribo some of you guys keep mentioning.

Actually, Awaziem is one of our best defenders.
I watched him play for Nigeria in the qualifiers and he was very good.
He is in Turkey because his old club (Boavista) could not pay his wages.
Also, maybe his agent did not advertise him well.

Home grown African talents are not well advertised by their agents and thus, it is no fault
of there's that they are not always in the big leagues or clubs.
Believe it or not Awaziem with the way he plays is one of our best defenders and even Rohr during his time
could never drop him from the team.
He has been fantastic in Turkey and he will join a big team or league as time goes on.

As per Omeruo he is average but you are right. A lot of players in the bottom 10 of the English league
and in division 2 are not better than him. He is at the same level if not better than Semi Ajayi or
players in a club like Newcastle.
Life is not always fair and assessing a player by his league is not always straight forward.
in fact, if Simmy Nwankwo was born in Europe, given his career record, he will not be in Salernitania
but again, he does not have a good agent.
Omeruo is a good defender.

Whoscored may indeed give them both a 9.5 average.

But taken in the context of the league they play in Turkish league ranked 18 in Europe and l am certain the Segunda is much lower in quality and competitiveness than the Turkish league.

Last season Awaziem played for Boavista on loan ftom Porto yet Boavista did not try to retain him Or any other team in the Portuguese league. WHY ,he was too good huh huh

You could get a 10 score from Whoscored playing for Warri Wolves in the NPFL, will that put you on par with the English premier League ❓❓

Let's be real and stop walking on eggshells , these two playo are not quality players, at best just average.

I remember when Omeruah returned to Chelsea a few seasons ago he was told to train with the U18 not even the U23. That tells you how much they rated him
My appraisal of them is not from their Whoscored ratings.
I don't even know their rating on Whoscored.
But i beg you not to look down on Whoscored, those guys are very good.

The quality of the league they feature in, doesn't make them below par.
You will need more than talent to feature at the biggest stage.

Mr Komekn, I will pick Awaziem and Omeruo ahead of some EPL defenders.
Most EPL clubs don't have good defenders.

Ndidi featured as a DM.

Do you know the work of a DM?

Play well? When last did he play well, The world of football is moving past him many EPL clubs have noticed his weakness and used him as a pressing trigger, DM position requires a certain skillset he doesn't have and unfortunately he is not going to get better at that, he can move to CB ala Kouyate he has the pace and the discipline to be an elite DM
Ndidi is a DM. The work he does on the pitch is for the trained eye.

His does his work very well.

He played well against Newcastle United.

If club form is the basis for national team selection.

Then the decision has already been made, since the departure of Gerrard and the arrival of Van Bronckhorst Calvin has been in every game and Balogun has been left onthe bench, even after he recovered from injury.

This is the conundrum with the NFF this boy has upped his game in a league that is 9 places higher than the Turkish league. He is outstanding in his league in the HERE and NOW. And we are still waisting time to invite him ,he had effectively benched Balogun his stats are outstanding.

We are still holding on to mediocrity with Omeruah and Awaziem who cannot rise above Turkish league and or the poor 2nd tier Segunda Division. Both players are not outstanding in their respective leagues ,just making up the numbers.
Awaziem and Omeruo are good players.

Personally i will savour the pairing of Balogun and Ughelumba (Calvin) in the national team, with a hope to witness the same in their club sides.

The pairing appears very complementary with a vast hope for improvements.

The following screenshots of Balogun and Ughelumba respectively were taken from Whoscored

I disagree a bit with how you listed your distinctions.

You can be below average but not piss poor. For instance Ekong is below average he will give you 5/10 performances but not usually horrible.

You can't be average and be considered good in football terms. Mikel was good never average for example.

Above average can never be equated to excellent. Above average is like saying that ''bros dey try sha'' while excellent is world class levels
