odumchi: Here's the hairstyle that Ezeagu is talking about, although this is a male.

i wonder why the contemporary ‘black’ african man and woman no longer want to grow and keep their hair. low-cut (men) and weave (women) nor dey let dem see road againgrin which actually help in perpetuating the stereotype that 'blacks' don’t have hair. hey, culture is not static and evolves i guess, but nice hairstyle on that ovbigbo!

Yea, I suppose. But it's just not something I'd my bootycall to wear.

a man who knows his place in society is never a bootycall, he calls the booty(s) and they line up!

Chaiii!! Stop that one o @ last sentence. The Igbo red hat looks like the version of Ekiti hat (comes in multiple colors).

lol..ok. if it makes u happy.
Culture / Re: Which Other African Attire Do You Like? by member58: 6:48pm On Aug 05, 2012
lol..how can u say that? the kabiyesi hat has a distinctive look that makes it unique. isnt it what the alaafin rocks? hey, i guess it is reserved for powerful monarchs... but that ur ekiti hat looks like a blue version of the igbo red hat which also comes in black..
Culture / Re: Which Other African Attire Do You Like? by member58: 5:06pm On Aug 05, 2012
staying on topic... i love this dashiki i bought in accra, i love rocking it with my igbo red hat (nairaland igbos, bite me!). then my kabiyesi cap in damask can never go wrong. and of course, as an ovbiedo kpataki, my long sleeve iwu with the royal swords ada and eben crested on it, is always a killer!
Religion / Re: Rapture Coming Soon by member58: 2:33pm On Aug 04, 2012
lol..funny!

but here is the deal:
-- edo philosophy believes the world will not come to an end, hence 'agbonifo' is a common edo name meaning 'world without end'

so all u christian fanatics waiting for the rapture and the end of the world, i know u will have to wait forever.

oh, plus the mayans. grin

I know how abusive you and PhysicsQED get when anyone talks about the Oba of Benin (not even Eweka 1). grin

So, don't take sides..

lol...i thought the argument was about gele?

but yeah, oduduwa is revered by edo people and ive never read any edo person make snide remarks about him on this forum.
Culture / Re: Which Other African Attire Do You Like? by member58: 6:00pm On Aug 03, 2012
this is the problem when a word from a group is adopted for something over other words from other groups. the group from which the word was adopted starts claiming invention. gele means headscarf nothing more, nothing less. other groups have their words for headscarf. hell, even fulani women tie their hair and im sure they would have a word for it thats if the word has not been rendered obsolete thanks to the almighty gele. grin

but tying hair with damask, im not sure how that started.

Just because other Nigerians wear it doesn't make it a "Nigerian" thing lol. New designs are periodically being created by Yorubas.

that comment is not clear. designs as how? designs of the damask that the gele is tied with? are the damask produced in nigeria?

I thought they were sewed together.

Even with that. . . . the design of the cloth and the headtie is very local tongue I wouldn't wear all that tho, but that's just me.

I like the "iro" tho, I no dey feel the buba/gele.

nope it wasnt sewn it was tied.

and now it is design of the cloth and the headtie is very local? but no longer slapshed? lol.. keep looking for what to say.

and you wouldnt wear it because u cant afford it... it is not for broke azz lokitos grin grin do.

*Ileke-IdI:

It doesn't.

The colors are splashed all over lol. mayb it's the colors used.

splashed as how? it wasnt a mix and match but two colors from two headties that were proportionately positioned and tied to become one. thats both genius and flamboyance.. segun gele should catch up.
