@Sithanda, Dominican Republic is nice. Nice to visit and live if you have money. I can certainly say stuff works there better than Naija. Regarding hustle though, I wouldn't advise anyone from Naija to go there to hustle. If you don't speak or understand spanish, you might find it extremely difficult to make it there unless may be you are employed by American/English schools.

@Sammy107_d, Just wanted to make a quick correction. Cayman Islands and the Bahamas doesn’t require a US Visa since they are not part of US territories. Cayman requires a British visa while Bahamas would require a Bahamian visa.

@April22, Unfortunately she has just about three options and some of which has been enumerated by Davidylan. First she needs to check on the status of the petition. I would suggest to at least consult an immigration lawyer. Secondly, since it sounds as if her initial visa had expired, she is now accruing illegal presence. If she's discovered, she'd be deported and be subject to a ban of 10yrs. Also, because her initial Visa had expired, she's ineligilble for Adjustment of Status (AoS) which is what would have normally occur. AoS would have prevented her from going to Naija for Consular processing. The third option would be to fall in love with and marry a US citizen, the USC would then file I-130, but both of them must prove it is a valid marriage and not just based on trying to avoid deportation. She needs to do some' fast. She's just postponing the evil day. I know folks that didn't bother who had been in the US for donkey years who have been deported.

Sorry about your situation. With the L visa, you shouldn't have any problem with your pregnancy. You are approved to work, not here on immigrant visa and you have sufficient funds. Rest your mind. It's only someone with a tourist visa that I'd advise differently. You'd be fine. Goodluck.

St. Johns is the smallest. Personally I prefer St. Croix the largest of the islands. St. Thomas is the most popular though.

10yrs visa?   Ghanaian passport is good for 5years to the best of my knowledge except if they recently changed it and there's no way in this [s]world any American embassy will issue a visa valid even after the expiration of the passport. infact the last date to get a visa on any passport is aat least6months to the expiration of the passport or your rreturn(i could be corrected). The most you can get for a B1/B2 visa is 2yrs multiple PERIOD! anything else is renewal or extension and like [/s] some have mentioned here earlier, you only spend what is written on your I-94 (arrival/departure card) at the port of entry. You can have a 2yrs multiple and at the port of entry they'll give a date that is not morethan 10days and staying morethan the date on the I-94 without extension is against the USCIS law.

These statements are useless. How can you stand corrected when posters above you including me had already stated that it's possible to get a 10yrs US Visa? And no, it wasn't a recent change!!!

Yep. It may not be common in US Embassy in Naija but in some countries that's like the standard practise. Once you have sufficient ties to your country dey just dashed them 10yrs even on a Virgin passport. I was shocked when I first heard it. I also remembered when 3months was like the standard for Naija issuance, now dey dash pple 2yrs multi even for first time.

u definitely can not explain away the failure to include your qualified kids while playing the lottery.the instruction is very clear and if at any time u raise the issue of having kids that u never included u will be DISQUALIFIED.
There is provision on the visa forms where u are to list all your kids/family members irrespective of whether they are migrating with u and another space where u list ONLY the kids/family members dat are n migrating wt u.

In  any case,failure to list the kids means u are sort saying u have no kids and that goes into the records.
it will den be difficukt to come back in the future to say u have got kids and all dat.

What I'm saying is that they could choose not to disclose that they've children at the interview. Upon migration to the US, 5yrs later they'd acquire citizenship, then they could file for the kids. Trust me, I have seen worse and it does work out even if it takes time. Expand your scope and visit other immigration online forums especially the ones in google. This is cakewalk compared to the blunders others had done and were still able to recover. Life is not always black and white.

actaully my big sister ,i and kid brother are over 21 so we arent eligible,but my  younger sibblings are teenagers and eligible
Now both parents are not educated,my mum only finished secondary school  while my dad did not finish.I very much doubt their capacity to go bak to school in the states.
again,our family has faced some financial hard ship in the past years wt business going downhill,but recently things just started looking up a lil bit for us.
Now considering all these,their age,education  ,business and in particular the fact they might neva go bak to school,is it advisable  they make the move?

To piggyback on what Vicjustice said, DV is intended to bring your and fresh folks who could contribute to the growth of the US and not be a liability that’s why you have the minimum education requirement and profession cert. Although when the DV originally started it wasn’t so. They have since up the ante. Now, regarding the children being a disqualification thing, forget it. They could explain it away that since the children aren’t migrating or look for another excuse. On the other hand, they could always file for the children later. They should do this when they become citizens though. The max USCIS would do is requiring a proof which they could overcome by doing DNA tests. Meanwhile, the interview could go either way. If they’re enjoying their lives in Naija, they should stay put. I know many older folks who also won the DV but refused to take up the offer.
