Phones / Re: How Can I Get My US Imported Phone To Work With Nigerian Sim Card ? by MemoriesAndMe: 2:08am On Aug 16
nairaman66:

Listen to your argument very funny. Who would want to unlock phones in the US when you can get the carriers SIM card etc. It is better to be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubts!

Don't get me wrong bro. Phone unlock services are still available in the US on sites like ebay and Craigslist and several other sites. Some folks will even unlock your phone for you remotely. The price in USD compared to the price to do same in Nigeria is much higher.

To switch to a new carrier in the US is very simple, take your old phone back and get a newer one if your credit is right and make installmental payments on the newer phone.

I know what I'm talking about bro. I can't even remember how many phones I've shipped or taken to Nigeria. I just know I prefer for all these phones to be unlocked in Nigeria than getting them unlocked here in the US by someone that will charge way more than it's done in Nigeria.

Before sending to Nigeria, You need to have asked if it is locked or unlocked. The phone is locked to their network overseas. It needs to be unlocked here in Nigeria and yet there are no guarantees!
It's cheaper to unlock phones in Nigeria. Who has time to unlock phones in the US and why?

Kobicove:

He was not actively involved in the destruction of the passport therefore he will likely escape jail time undecided

But he just claimed it was a skit, so he's aware that him and his wife purposely created a scene at the airport, disturbing normal operations in clear view of other travelers, including foreigners that may be coming to Nigeria for the first time. That's an offense on its own.

Politics / Re: House Of Reps Seeks Prison Sentence; N5m Fine For Nigerians Refusing Anthem by MemoriesAndMe: 7:11pm On Aug 14
Nice idea! How about us starting with the President, Vice President, Senate President, members of the House of Reps and House of Assembly? Whoever can't recite the new national anthem is sent to jail with penalties.
Most of them can't even recite the old one and they're ready to lock up citizens including our farmers, traders, artisans, fishermen etc that can't recite it as if their lives or jobs depend on it.

I'm not surprised because it is commonplace to see Igbo tenants renovate and upgrade houses for their native landlords before buying the same building and renting it out to the ex landlord to help him stave off hunger and crime.
At the boldened, where is the tribalism coming from? Was it mentioned anywhere that the tenant or the landlord were igbos? Both of them could have been from anywhere in Nigeria, why make tribalistic comments on matters you have little knowledge of?

Agriculture / Re: Farmers: How're You Coping With The Drought? by MemoriesAndMe: 2:05pm On Aug 10
I thought FG distributed fertilizer alongside rice to different states. We all know some of the rice were hoarded, people dey chop fertilizers too? That's what the farmers need in situations like this.

Is this in Lagos? Only travelled thru once Lag once. With Abuja, I'm very resolute but jovial. The whole begging just irritates me.

I travel through MMIA in Lagos most times, I did through Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja only once and there was still begging there. They had many stops for various people to search through your luggage with each of them coming with individual demands.

One begged for my hair clippers, I gave it to him, knowing it's useless to him. The clippers are designed for US voltage, 110v, Nigeria uses 220v. Must a person beg for everything they set their eyes on?

The next one was begging for my headphones and I was like "Hell no, go buy yours from your salary". They can beg for you eyeballs if you allow these rats to enter you.

Try not to give them anything. It only feeds the disgusting habit

They can delay you and make you miss your flight during departure.
During arrival, they can put you through hell like telling you to take out all the contents in your luggage for inspection, luggage that have already been inspected before they were checked in from where you're traveling from. They will hold you up for a long time at the airport asking all sorts of stupid questions.

The only way to just give them some money. That's why a lot of people travel with naira still on them to give to these rats at the airports whenever they return. Give them dollars, pounds or Euros, there are more of them waiting to get more from you. They are very annoying sets of people.

They have to suspend all the immigration officers at MMA because all of them begs

How can one officer be suspended because he was caught?

They all beg, this is known fact that the front officers begs and whatever money they make it’s distributed or divided for all of them from bottom to the top.

Very embarrassing.
Including NDLEA officials at the airports. They have done it to me several times. They are all beggars and don't mind you missing your flight if you don't give them money. I missed one flight because of them before.

Check well, what you're saying doesn't make any sense. If we are to go by your logic, then nobody should pay condolences, miss their loved ones or wish they had never died because every dead person may have potentially been a bad person while they were living.

Again, is it ok for someone that may be potentially spreading terminal illnesses like AIDS to everyone to be allowed to roam around? Not saying that's the case here and not saying that may be the reason someone took his life, there may just be more reasons beyond our comprehension based on the little info we have about this individual.

Since neither of us knows for sure, then it's not enough reason to murder him.

Correct. Him being murdered is a condemned action by whoever did it. But saying he hasn't offended anybody may be inaccurate as well since none of us really know what his lifestyle has caused to others.

What do you mean by the boldened? He says he can't keep track of his body count by other men and he keeps getting "dry". Do you know if he has passed AIDS to someone that ended up coming to hunt him?

You filmed him and brought it to social media for what?

For us to mock him or what?

Why can't you take the video to his superiors rather than bring it on social media?

How will his kids feel if they see this? His family members? If the man commits suicide because of this. Who killed him?

Many individuals are immature. He may believe he was doing the right thing by posting it on social media, but he was not.

Bringing the video to his superiors and being confronted with it demonstrates maturity.

Putting the footage on social media is childish.

Have you ever traveled out of Nigeria before? If you have and you have returned to Nigeria from your trip, you'll understand the guy did the right thing.

Do you know that several people travel out of Nigeria just to get treated abroad? Imagine someone that has been in hospitals undergoing various surgeries and treatments to return to Nigeria and be welcomed by the overzealous and hungry immigration officers at the airports demanding for money. The person can't even pee in any bathroom in the airport cos one hungry cleaner is permanently there demanding for money. Money from where? From the doctor's and nurses that treated him or her overseas? These people are just shameless and should all be replaced.

We all heard they give their superiors their percentage from whatever they get from the travelers, so their superiors can't say they don't know anything about what's happening at the airports.

Of all the airports I've been to around the world, Nigerian airports are the worst and most frustrating ones. Everyone there is a beggar. Even to use the toilets there, there's someone waiting there to beg. The immigration officers I've ran into, including NDLEA officials will sometimes be up to 20, each of them demanding for money as if they don't get paid their salaries.

The way to be at these people is to raise your voice while talking to them. When they start talking to you in low voice demanding for money, respond to them in a very loud voice like you're talking to everyone in the airport. Like "Oga, speak louder, I can't hear you". Most likely, he will let you go, and you will run into another one that wants to start the same thing you just ended with the last one. It's too many of them stopping you at any slight opportunity at Nigerian airports, each begging for money and it's annoying.

You asked how will the immigration thief's kids a d family feel if they see this official this way, it's same way the travelers' kids and family feel whenever they see full grown and employed civil servants, expected to be professionals, begging their parents and family members at airports and the image they portray the country in.

Did you read about the news of a young teenager that flew to Nigeria for the first time from Europe and the immigration officers at the airport took all his pocket money and left him stranded at MMA? Would you want that to happen to your child, relatives or yourself?

I'm glad to hear that this particular immigration officer has been identified and suspended.

I'll record as many of them as possible and post them all on social media. Let them all be replaced by vibrant youths with respect for their jobs and their nation's respect.

You just can't be begging for money from every Tom, Dick and Harry because you're working at the airport. It's annoying.

The question should be "How many dependants (wives, kids, relatives etc) does he have to cater for daily? So, if they're much, he may actually have to spend that much daily.
