RingRoadMafia:
Poverty na bad thing o, how can you marry somebody's daughter when she's looking so fresh, and after so many years you have her looking as wretched as you?

This why I will never see any woman as a gold digger because at the end of the day, I won't let my own sister marry a wretch. The same way a man wants what's best for himself is also the same way women want what's best for themselves. So I don't blame them!

I'm not sure anyone understands the reasons for all these insults. While some folks marriages don't even last up to a year, you are insulting a marriage that lasted 17 years already. That's not cool bro.

Career / Re: How Much Are You Making As A Copywriter? by MemoriesAndMe: 2:26pm On Jun 12, 2023
Copywriting is going away soon as Chat-GPT, Bard etc took over the space and made the craft simple for everyone.

May be copywriters that leverage these tools and have constantly returning clients can still make money from the craft, but anyone can jump into copywriting with these AI tools.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Made This Huge Mistake In The Sixth Year Of My Professional Career by MemoriesAndMe: 12:44pm On Jun 12, 2023
I believe almost everyone will agree with you on this. Making a career switch is actually a huge decision one has to carefully think about.

I once worked for one multi-national firm as an FTE for over 3 years, suddenly another multi-national offered me a similar role on the basis of contract to hire as the team lead on an ongoing project.

I resigned from the former and joined the new one. The cultures were totally different, but I thrived. I was supposed to work there as a contractor for a year and be converted to an FTE afterwards.

Me and my team ended up working for 8 months and suddenly a huge twist occurred. Management made decisions to cancel the contract and let all the contractors go. Suddenly, we were all out of work.

I reached out to my former firm cos I served them really well and my efforts were appreciated, but it was too late. It took about another 6 months of job hunting to find another gig.

You are quoting rich niggas, is there anywhere in the world a rich person can't marry from? He's talking about himself and of course everyone can tell all he has to offer is love, not money.

If he had bought that brother-in-law a Benz or Range a long time ago, that dude would have since shut up.

Family / Re: Are Women From Divorced Homes More Likely To Divorce? by MemoriesAndMe: 8:53pm On May 29, 2023
It's risky marrying someone from a broken home no matter how well-cultured she is, unless she is able to stand tall and and stay tough in her marriage without external interference.

Otherwise, the same factors that ruined her mother's marriage to her father may ruin yours too. Don't wait till when you start hearing stories like "that's how my daddy was to my mom", "my mom says you will never change because you didn't come back home on time" etc.

Just do you research bro.

Youths are the leaders of tomorrow, that's what we have all been deceived with. Now youths noticed it's the same old people and their cronies that continue being leaders and the youths have decided to japa, now this, talking about coming back to develop Nigeria when Nigeria gave them nothing while they were there.

Better encourage those that chose to still stay in Nigeria to have as many kids as possible so that same mantra of "Youths are the leaders of tomorrow" can be passed on to the new kids.

The youths of today are wiser and know what's best for them.

Romance / Re: What A Girl Did After I Stopped Giving Her Money by MemoriesAndMe: 11:29pm On May 18, 2023
You're probably just one of her clients. You have decided not to give her money anymore and she's probably focusing on other clients that will continue what you just stopped. So, you are on the right track knowing where her head is earlier than other dudes she's milking.

Even some married women are like that - never satisfied with whatever they can get from their husbands and still looking for other men to extort. It's best you just dump those types and find a non-materialistic type.

Dealing with materialistic individuals potentially comes with some of these listed below and the earlier you notice the traits is the best time to keep them afar from you

1. Materialistic individuals may prioritize possessions and wealth over personal relationships.
2. They may be more likely to engage in superficial conversations and interactions.
3. They may be less empathetic or compassionate towards others.
4. Their focus on material possessions may lead to financial instability or debt.
5. They may be more prone to jealousy and possessiveness.
6. Their materialistic values may clash with one's own values and beliefs.
7. They may be less generous towards others and less likely to give to charity.
8. They may be more likely to judge others based on their possessions or appearance.
9. Their focus on material possessions may lead to an unfulfilling and unsatisfying life.
10. They may be more likely to engage in unethical behavior in order to acquire more wealth or possessions.
11. They may be less interested in personal growth and self-improvement.
12. They may prioritize material possessions over personal health and well-being.
13. They may be more likely to engage in conspicuous consumption and status-seeking behavior.
14. They may be less interested in experiences and adventures that do not involve material possessions.
15. They may be more likely to engage in dishonest or manipulative behavior in order to acquire material possessions.
16. They may be less likely to appreciate the simple pleasures in life.
17. Their focus on material possessions may lead to a shallow and unfulfilling personal life.
18. They may be more likely to engage in reckless spending and financial mismanagement.
19. They may be less likely to value personal connections and emotional intimacy.
20. They may be more prone to superficial and transactional relationships.

@OP, I don't think there's anything to worry about. Grandparents often have their own fantasies too and may have decided to name their grand-child that.

My mother still calls my kids by names she chose for them, but all that's is temporary, the kids know their real names. So don't worry about anything bro.

Education / Re: How Much Do Guinness World Record Holders Get Paid? by MemoriesAndMe: 8:22pm On May 14, 2023
Guinness World Records does not typically pay record holders for setting or holding a record. Instead, the organization provides them with a certificate or other form of recognition.

However, in some cases, record holders may receive financial compensation or other benefits from sponsors or media outlets who are interested in publicizing their achievement. Additionally, some record holders may be able to monetize their achievement through book deals, speaking engagements, or other opportunities.

Never heard of Diogenes syndrome before reading this....had to read it up

Diogenes syndrome, also known as senile squalor syndrome, is a disorder characterized by extreme self-neglect, apathy, social withdrawal, and a lack of shame or embarrassment about one's living conditions. The syndrome is named after the ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes, who famously lived a simple and ascetic lifestyle.

People with Diogenes syndrome often live in squalor, with cluttered and filthy living spaces, neglecting their personal hygiene and health, and hoarding items such as food, trash, and other objects. They may also isolate themselves from friends and family, and refuse offers of help or intervention.

The causes of Diogenes syndrome are not well understood, but it is believed to be a complex interplay of physical, psychological, and social factors. Risk factors for the syndrome include old age, social isolation, mental illness, and a history of trauma or abuse.

Treatment for Diogenes syndrome can be challenging, as people with the disorder are often resistant to help. A multidisciplinary approach involving mental health professionals, social workers, and medical doctors is often necessary to address the physical, psychological, and social needs of the person with the disorder. In some cases, court-ordered interventions may be necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of the person.

@OP, your ex's brother isn't your responsibility. I'd suggest you give him a specific date to move out. That's should be enought time for him to dig for others that will accommodate him.

Actually, you shouldn't have even allowed it in the first place; there's no point being useful to people that are useless to you. Just my view.

Emeskhalifa:
Someone should make me understand, these planes evacuating Nigerians from Sudan, are they getting their payment from the 1.2 million dollars FG set aside for bringing back Nigerians from Sudan or they are just doing work of the Lord and no one is going to pay them?

No, there's something called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that some firms have imbibed in their ethical standards, implying it shouldn't be all about profit in every situation.

So these firms tend to attend to social issues ongoing in their areas of operation based on their discretion. The government may give them tax credits in return though.
