According to the British superstar Anthony Joshua, he's been taking advice on his training regime and diet from former foe Wladimir Klitschko, who ruled the heavyweight division for a decade before losing a twelve round decision to Tyson Fury in November 2015.

Joshua is leaving no stone unturned ahead of his rematch with IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz - which takes place on Saturday night in Saudi Arabia.

Klitschko retired in 2017 at the age of 41, a few months after getting stopped in the eleventh round by Joshua before a crowd of 90,000 at Wembley Stadium.
After their fight, the two boxers became good friends and Joshua would often call him to get pointers ahead of tough fights.

The toughest test ahead for Joshua is the upcoming rematch with Ruiz, who dropped the British fighter four times to secure a seventh round stoppage in June.

"[Klitschko] said loads of stuff to me, Wlad was definitely ahead of the game. He's more disciplined than me, he's more diplomatic," Joshua said.

"He was giving me dietary and training advice and that is maybe what people are talking about now when they see a difference in my body. Maybe that's why – because I've adapted some of his teaching – my weight may fluctuate."

Joshua is very motivated to reclaim his world titles, but says those four belts should not define him as a fighter.

"There's nothing I've missed about being world champion," Joshua said. "I've always said the belt should never define the man. I walked as a champion before I even had a belt.

"This is fighting. One loss doesn't take the spots off a cheetah. We don't play games when it comes to boxing, we're serious and after I took the loss I've had time to reflect. I now have things to prove to myself. I want to take it more seriously because I'm going to that next level."

Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Peter Abel Diah, has resigned his position. This follows weeks of political intrigues in the state.

The Speaker confirmed his resignation on Sunday, citing personal reasons.

It was learnt that Diah had, until Sunday morning, been in control of 15 members, against Governor Darius Ishaku’s nine.

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) says it has successfully conducted a multi-sector link up operation involving troops from Nigeria, Chad, and the Niger Republic, a report by Channels Television has revealed.

A statement by the Force’s Chief of Military Public Information, Colonel Timothy Antigha, said the Boko Haram terrorists suffered severe human and equipment losses during the operation conducted on Friday.

It explained that this was in continuation of Operation Yancin Tafki in Arege, Metele and Duguri as troops of Sector 3 (Nigeria) and Sector 2 (Chad) linked up with their counterparts in Sector 4 (Niger) around the Kamadougou River.

“13 terrorists were killed, while many others sustained injuries,” the statement said, adding that three gun trucks were captured while another gun truck and three motorcycles were burnt.

The terrorists, according to MNJTF, also lost three anti- airguns and several rounds of assorted ammunition among other items.

However, three security personnel were wounded in action during the operation and have been airlifted by the Nigerian Air Task Force.

They were received in N’Djamena by the Deputy Force Commander, Brigadier General Nouma Melingui, on behalf of the Force Commander, Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf.

“The wounded soldiers have been stabilised and are responding to treatment,” the statement added.

No fewer than 138 inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Enugu Custodial Centre are currently sitting for the 2019 National Examination Council (NECO) November/December examination.

This was disclosed in a statement Friday by the Public Relations Officer of the centre in Enugu, Mr Emeka Monday.

Monday said that this increased the number of inmates that had taken the examination between 2017 and 2019 to 346.

According to him, 84 inmates sat for the examination in 2017 while 124 took the exams in 2018 and all of them made credits in English and Mathematics.

The spokesperson said that the inmates were hopeful that they would surpass the record set by the previous counterparts.

“The Nigerian Correctional Service sees educational programme as an important vehicle to reform inmates while in custody.

“In Enugu Custodial Centre, we have the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) special centre as well as a primary and secondary school for inmates,” he said.

The command expressed appreciation to some Non Governmental Organisation (NGOs) and philanthropists who made it possible for the registration of inmates and encouraged more Nigerians to ensure that more inmates were enrolled for exams.

The National Youth Service Corps has arrested a 200-level student who allegedly obtained a fake degree certificate and was undergoing the orientation exercise at the Zamfara State camp.

Punch correspondent learnt that the NYSC last Friday apprehended the student, identified only as Rose, who was a 200-level Journalism undergraduate at a university in Benin Republic.

The NYSC Director-General, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, confirmed the arrest of the student to Punch correspondent.

He said the Benin Republic university wrote to the scheme when its officials discovered her on the social media, posting her photographs in the NYSC uniform in the Zamfara camp.


She was undergoing the Batch C Stream 1 orientation course before she was arrested.

The DG noted that the student had been brought to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and handed over to officials of the Department of State Services for further investigations.

Ibrahim warned that the NYSC would clamp down on fake graduates and certificates, adding that anyone arrested would be handed over for prosecution.

Jennifer revealed that she has always been kind to the security man by always giving him tips whenever they met.

However, the man misinterpreted her kind gesture.

In the screenshot the lady posted on IG, the man had texted her to reveal that he has feelings for her.

He went ahead to reveal to her that he would have confessed his love a while ago if he had money.

On a different day after she refused to reply to the confession, the man sent a text, asking if he could come and stay with her.

She replied and told him never to send such messages to her.

He, however, sent another message apologizing and even claimed that he was feeling lonely.

She asked if she should be worried about the message sent by the man.

A bank official in Nigeria has been remanded in prison for allegedly publishing “damaging and annoying” articles on Facebook against a state governor.

The bank official, Michael Itok, was on Tuesday arraigned before a magistrate court in Uyo, by the State Security Service, SSS. He was accused of writing numerous articles against the Akwa Ibom governor, Udom Emmanuel, and other officials of the state government.

Mr Itok, 21, is a marketer with Prudential Microfinance Bank, Uyo.

The charge against the bank marketer reads, “That you, Mr Michael Itok and another now at large, sometimes in October, 2019 at 1000 Units Housing Estate, Idu Uruan, Uruan Local Government Area, within the Uyo Magisterial District did constitute yourself into a nuisance by publishing damaging and annoying articles on your Facebook page with the aim of harassing, blackmailing and bringing to disrepute His Excellency Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and other staff of the Akwa Ibom State Government House, and thereby commits and offence punishable under Section 6(1) (f) of the Akwa Ibom State Internal Security and Enforcement Law, 2009.”

Mr Itok is said to have been remanded in the Uyo prison.

It is unclear, for now, if he took his plea or not. It is also unclear if he was represented by a lawyer during his arraignment.

An official of Prudential Microfinance Bank told PREMIUM TIMES, on Tuesday evening, Mr Itok was picked up in the bank on October 8, around 7:30 a.m, by some unidentified men.

The official said she was not there when Mr Itok was picked up, but that she saw a note he left for her on the office desk.

“I might not be able to get his message word for word, but he said, ‘Please madam, any day I don’t return to work or you don’t see me, know that Udom’s boys have picked me!”

From the account of the bank official, it is apparent that Mr Itok has been detained by the SSS for over 40 days before he was eventually arraigned.

The bank official said Mr Itok’s family was aware of his arrest.

Mr Itok, according to his Facebook profile, claimed he has worked as a steward to Governor Emmanuel.

PREMIUM TIMES could not immediately reach Akwa Ibom State Government at the time of filing this report.

Uwemedimo Nwoko and Charles Udoh, the state attorney general and commissioner for information respectively, did not respond to calls and text message from PREMIUM TIMES.

A Nigerian lady @PrettyMaa_ has taken to social media to recount how she was raped by her neighbour at the age of 8.

According to the young lady, even after she told her mom, her mom never believed her.

She wrote “You see that picture I was approaching 8 and guess what I already knew what sex was. I grew up in Warri, back of old airport behind winners chapel church.. one of all those computers with 30 tenants, one toilet and bathroom, the building was standing because of God. I was chubby liked by everyone in the compound. They usually call me nyenye that’s like the nickname of my native name “nyenrhovwo”.

“We had this neighbour next to ours, an elderly woman with 8 boys, she fries groundnut so after school I walk to her backyard to help her fry and eat small. One of her sons “samy” was my fav, always buying me biscuits and gifts. If my mum is not around he stays with me and all. Till this very day , I got back from school as usual went to mama’s house to fry groundnut but no one was home except samy well as uncle things I stayed. That was how he carried me on his bed and started touching me. He closed my mouth so I won’t scream loud.

“That was how my favorite uncle raped me after he was done he cleaned me up thoroughly and took me home. After some weeks I tried telling my mum , do you know my mum assumed i was lying? Because she felt it couldn’t be true. That was when my life started. I had to heal up bruises on my own and the thoughts on my own.

“I started developing trust issues, till date my trust issue is bad my previous relationships always end up because I can’t seem to trust a man. We eventually left there to another place that was when i went A wire. I became stubborn ehn as in stubborn. I felt i could do things on my own, i joined the wrong friends. My parents felt then I was possessed or something because i lost control. They did all they could but i was far gone so they left me to my fate. At age 13,14 i leave my parents house without them knowing about my whereabouts for weeks, months to stay in my friends houses.

“Good thing i was still going to school. You see bad friends forget it.. They were wayward so they didn’t advise me to have sense so i was foolish like them so when i was around 14 going 15. My mum had a liquor shop in warri then so she had this particular ijaw man coming to buy things. Well i knew him very well.

“So on that day after school ,i just got out of the school gate and he drove pass and he stopped and offered to take me home which i innocently entered i just thought after all he’s my mum’s customer let me save my tp fare. That was how he got to one house and said he wanted to quickly drop some things in that house and that i should assist him carry some load. I joined him and we carried the things into the house, lo and behold this man locked the door and asked me to strip.

“For a min i was dumbfounded till a blow hit me ,he was like if i dont do as he says he was going to kill me. He was serious because he brought out a knife. I tried to struggle with him in the process he stabbed me pretty close to ny chest,on my left breast that’s y i hv a scar there looking like a tattoo but i tell people it was an operation to avoid long stories. He succeeded, cleaned me up and dropped me half way on the road.

“I got home no one was home i quickly cleaned up so my parents wont notice a thing because i had no intentions of telling them after all the first one happened they didnt believe its now this one? I just decided to keep it to myself. Weeks after my body changes, mumsu noticed i was having awful discharge immediately she took me to the hospital and result came i had a terrible infection. Doctors had to do a vaginal operation. My life then was in a mess but i always wore a smile. Back to back injections, treatment my hands and butt saw shege that period. I finally opened up to my parents ,but by then the man had packed out.

“These experiences created a mental and emotional damage to me. I started life quite early and i learnt my lessons in a very hard way. I had an ex i had the courage to tell my rape experience to,he laughed and told me i was lying,because of this ehn i started some of my past relationships with lies because i felt what was the point of being real when he wont believe me. Those so called friends even ganged up to kill me then because of envy. My rape experience affected my sexual life i rarely hv orgasm during sex, my insecurities became immeasurably high.. then i was strong,my heart was like a rock, you cant fight me oh.

“My growing up wasnt fun at all. I didn’t get to experience those sweet childhood memories because i became an adult at a minor age. No one helped me retrace my steps,God did. We all hv stories to tell in one way or the other. How you make your bed is how you will definitely sleep on it. All these pain formed into anger because i was forced to heal up the hard way.

“Sometimes when i get angry its a different version of me u dont want to see,before i couldnt control it, gradually i started managing my anger issues. It’s dead but its still in me so if you pish me to my limit it will erupt . Sometimes anything that will trouble my peace ,i try to avoid it , i either keep calm or walk away but if you push it well . So thank you for reading…. i hope you learnt from my story .

The Osun State Police Command has arrested a member of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Mr Emmanuel Oyejide for allegedly killing one Fatai Adegboye popularly known as Otunba during a scuffle.

Fatai, who was a member of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) was said to have slumped during an argument with Oyejide in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The duo were said to be fighting at Ipetumodu, a town in Ife-North Local Government Area of Osun State.
According to reports, Oyejide, who is said to be from Sooko compound in the town accused the deceased, who hailed from Atelebo compound, of having an illicit affair with his wife.

However, the deceased was said to have denied the allegation, but the accused, accompanied by four other hunters, was not satisfied with the explanation.

The argument degenerated into a brawl during which Oyejide was said to have hit the deceased with a 'magical ring,' which made him slump and he was later pronounced dead at the General Hospital.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), of the commnd, Mustapha Katayeyanjue, who confirmed the incident said that the Commissioner of Police had ordered full investigation into the matter to unravel the cause of death.
