Make your boss happy by knowing your budget before you start planning your business meeting or event, and then stick to it. Follow these tips to help you control costs: 1) Avoid surprises when renting a facility or working with vendors by getting all agreements in writing. 2) Build a 10 percent contingency into your budget to accommodate unexpected expenses. 3) Check all invoices against written quotations. 4) Question all charges that don't seem to compute. 5) Limit the number of people authorized to charge items to your master account at the facility. 6) Review hotel accounts daily to avoid major surprises on the final bill. 7) Don't sign off on any bills until you are totally satisfied. Keep an eye on hidden expenses such as overnight shipping, taxes, or overtime charges.9) Watch out for currency conversions when planning meetings overseas. for more tips go to www.facebook.com/tequila.nigeria |
Good Morning Lagosians Last week we went to a buka where they are known for their “Peppered Stew”. They say that their “Peppered Stew” can cure malaria (lol). I love the peppered stew and I must tell you (for lovers of pepper ooo) you most definitely give it a try Observation The food is cooked in a close space (that’s a plus ) Their speciality is the PEPPERED STEW They sell rice, porridge, swallow, moi moi and vegetable soup The food is affordable The environment is neat I noticed 3 buka’s on the same line (would definitely try them out) The food is enjoyable when eaten immediately The food is hot (very hot for those who don’t like pepper) Critic Hygiene is neat but they need to make provisions for when the other store owners sweep their shop. Increase the size of the meat (it’s too small for #50 per piece) There was more of oil than stew Location They are located at POWA market/plaza by Ikeja High Court, Off Ladoke Akintola. Here are some pictures I took when I went to the place..

I can’t hold it anymore, everyday I wake up thinking today he would say “Merl I don’t see us going on well, let’s end the relationship”. I have gotten to the point where I gave up on love and shut the door to relationships. When I sit among my male friends, they talk about how Amina broke his heart or how Shade is after his pocket. I just smile and tell them guys have done worst than that to me and they say no ooo that guys don’t do such. The argument would go on for hours. Anyways, back to my story. Am sure some of you know who am talking about (lol). As I was leaving work yesterday, I saw beau waiting outside for me. I was shocked but I love the surprise (very few guys go the EXTRA MILE to impress their girlfriends). I do love the extra mile beau does for me, but sometimes I feel he would one day he would change When we got to his house, he got down from the car and opened the door for me (how many Nigerian men will do this??), anyways I got down from the car and he used his tie to blindfold me (now me I was trying to see if I can pep thru the open space but beau made sure there was no space).... Sometimes you’re forced to slash your marketing budget, whether you want to or not. But advertising less doesn’t have to mean pulling in fewer customers. Following are some ideas for cutting your marketing expenses with minimal damage to your customer base: Eliminate advertising in media that don’t produce as well: One-half to two-thirds of the places where you advertise are probably relatively low producers. Analyze where your sales come from and then shift your budget to a handful of top-performing media buys. Follow the media bargains: If network TV ads are expensive but local cable ads are cheap, go for the cheap option, which can still get you in front of customers while saving you some bucks. Look for relatively new magazines and ask for a special introductory price on full-page ads. You can always find bargains if you make a point of searching for them. (There are a growing number of marketing brokers and agencies that seek deals on the web, too.) Bid on narrowly defined key terms on Google’s search engine: Pay-per-click ads are economical if you choose key terms carefully to avoid the most popular ones and favor narrow, highly specific terms (which usually cost less while also getting you to the top of a search result for consumers who know exactly what they want). Monitor your search engine advertising daily, and you can keep costs surprisingly low. Reduce or eliminate expensive full-color catalogs and brochures. Use your website as a substitute for costly printed reference materials. If you really need a 20-page, full-color brochure to communicate detailed product information, make it a virtual brochure that can be read page by page on your website or on a portable device reader. Explore viral marketing on the web: Start an expert blog to inform customers with how-to tips. Hold a contest for the funniest video featuring your product, and post the winning videos on YouTube. Send e-mail press releases to a hundred top bloggers every month. Ask employees and friends to help you build a popular page for your brand on Facebook. Vow to never lose a good customer: Whenever you have a customer who’s upset or at risk, find out why and win him or her back. Finding new customers costs more than keeping the old ones, so customer retention keeps costs low. Figure out how you lose the most prospects and then concentrate your marketing to convert more of your prospects into customers: For instance, you may be losing prospects by not following through well enough on initial inquiries. If so, shorten the response time and consider adding another salesperson. When you have a prospect in hand, closing the sale is cheaper than losing the prospect and having to go out and find another. Branding is the process that aligns the opinions people hold about your brand with the set of thoughts you want them believe and trust. As you develop your brand, follow these steps, in this order: 1) Determine what you’re branding and whether your brand will be your one and only or one of several brands in your organization. 2) Research everything there is to know about your product and the market in which it will compete. 3) Position your brand by defining what makes it unique and how it will slot into an available space in the market and in your customers’ minds. 4) Define your brand by stating what it stands for, what unique benefit it provides, what value it promises to deliver, and the image that will permeate everything from your marketing communications to your product design, business character, and consumer experience. 5) Develop your brand identity, including your brand name, logo, tagline, and other brand signature elements. 6) Launch your brand, internally first and then by announcing it via publicity, social-media advertising, promotions, and presentations. 7) Manage your brand by understanding and leveraging your brand’s value, by protecting your brand through usage rules and legal rights, and by delivering an unfailingly consistent and positive brand experience that creates allegiance among those who represent, choose, and remain loyal to your brand. Monitor, evaluate, and update your brand to keep it relevant and credible in light of changes to your business, your customers, or your marketplace.www.facebook.com/tequila.nigeria |

The 26 year old co-pilot of the ill fated helicopter that crashed into the Lagoon yesterday, Peter Bello, (pictured above) is yet to be found. After 4 persons were confirmed dead while 6 rescued alive, the search has continued as men of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA are at work. However Peter and one other person in the 12- seat helicopter are yet to be accounted for as they have not been found by divers. Reports say they were coming from the Niger Delta where they had gone for an oil-related inspection and were heading back to Lagos when they suffered the mishap. Friends say Peter, who is also a media photographer, had been planning for his sister’s wedding which is to hold soon. Mods do the needful

So my bestie has been crying all night and there's nothing I can do to console her. Just yesterday, she told me that her boyfriend has been bringing DIFFERENT girls to her apartment (the house she pays rent and she furnished the apartment) and he sleeps with those girls in the same apartment. Now she's heart broken. Please what can she do to the guy? as she wants revenge... |

You probably already know a few things about social media marketing that will stand you in good stead. Start with these marketing basics and work from there to create a social media plan: * Create a hub website or blog with a domain name that you own. Social media lets you cast a wider net for your products or services. Ultimately, you still need to drive traffic to a core website or blog for additional information or purchasing. * Develop a standard set of eight keywords or phrases and a page description for search engine optimization. Just like you optimize your website, optimize your social marketing content and profiles. Use the same description and terms over and over to improve your ranking on search engines and to appear higher on internal search results for each social media outlet. * Plan your marketing and work your plan. Like with all other forms of marketing, your decisions are driven by your target audience. Market on the media outlets they use. Before you actually do anything, define your market, establish your goals, and decide how you will measure success. * Keep it simple! Unless you have many people on your marketing team, you need to keep your social media efforts under control — or they will control you. Generally, you get better results by posting more often on a few sites than posting occasionally on many sites. Create a simple monthly schedule of activities that includes posting somewhere at least weekly. go to www.facebook.com/tequila.nigeria |
