Politics › Niger Delta Will Betray Biafra Agitation by mesoprogress(op): 9:49pm On Jun 02, 2017 |
DONALD EKPO WROTE-
"The north have not enslaved our people any less as they have enslaved the Igbos, yet the hatred displayed by my people against the Igbos throughout the social media yesterday and today is unspeakable, and worse than what the North has express towards us both. IT IS A SHAME.
It is a shame because we have allowed ourselves to be used as pawns in the hands of the Hausa/Fulani Oligarchy. It is a shame that we have forgotten too soon that these are the only people that stood by us between 2011 to 2015. A display of love you and I know it was undeserved.
We all became historians that dug up our history unknown to malign these ones. The same history that was so evil, that even our Hausa/Fulani Slave Masters had to ban it from being taught in schools. A history you base on heresays. A history that does not even favor you if told in sincerity. And we have fanned ourselves with our self imposed righteousness. Then what next? Remain as slaves in this Zoo called Nigeria?
What unity do we have? The unity of minorities? The Unity of oil that the SE dont have? Or is it the Unity dashed us by the slaves masters by calling us either Niger Delta or South south, Meaning? The unity of leaving the Ngwa man that shares the same market with me, and being the brother of an Esan or Auchi man rather than my neighbor? What is our driving force that can guarantee us freedom if not in Unity with those that have tested the waters? Do we intend to remain slaves?
It beats my imagination how we think. Have we ever considered or thought of what our chances of freedom would be? Show me one Nnamdi Kanu of our dashed region that will command our Unity to speak with one voice in the face of tyranny? Have we finished fighting ourselves over the crumps given to our people by the Hausa/Fulani/Multinationals?
It is time to use our tongues to count our teeth. Refuse being a pawn in the hands of our oppressors"- DONALD EKPO |

Coal mining causes more environmental damage than oil exploitation. This is not a good news if true. Environmental damage on top 13% derivation? ?
Most SE have abundant oil reserves, federal govt refused to develop them . It's actually a good thing because the stress is not worth it. |

I am not IPOB , neither a fan of Kanu. However, nobody is begging anybody to join any nation. There will be a referendum in each ethnic unit. It's of course their choice to join or not. If it's only South East standing at the end of the day, then they would have their country all to themselves. Nobody is begging anybody. A meal of vegetables in peace is better than a buffet in discord. South south can drink their oil. I'm all for a new state. https://www.nairaland.com/3836658/ipob-releases-biafran-detailed-system |

secretsuccess: my name is joshua a chemical engineering graduate. it is so difficult to survive as a hardworking, honest and God fearing person here in Nigeria. After my NYSC i have been struggling from place to place, looking for opurtunities. i always shuttle from lagos to portharcourt...thinking that one day it will be well. i just discovered that it will never be well..
When we were in secondary school we were told to get a good course..my parents were happy when i got chemical engineering..then in school it was get a good result..that was no problem, i got a second class upper.
Ater service it was get certified..ahh, no wahala.. i got my NEBOSH certificate..then again some said it was connection..ok, i joined lots of proffesional whatsapp groups after much work, i even had to pay for some...funny enough the so called proffesional group failed woefully.
twice i was called for a job brief..twice i was rejected..the first reason was because i am igbo the woman saw my name and her countenance changed though she dashed me 2k and told me the usual words i would get back to you..ok, fair enough. The second was in portharcourt i was rejected because of my church..Roman catholic.. hmmm. A young man was also rejected for same reason he kept on complaining while i was just laughing..though later i begged him for #100 for my TP, he gave me sha.. he is a nice man.
ok. i had to go back to the drawing board..met some people and they said i should just do further courses..oooo! course again, ok.. no wahala. i begged my mum to sell her bike for 110k so i can add 30k and do process safety and loss prevention..she accepted.. i sold the bike and did the course.. yet, no interview call. i said ok let me visit companies and give them the cv..my brother no show.
i sat still again..and then reviewed my cv..paid 2k for push CV to review the cv..still no luck.. downloaded CV review app used it time and time again. same results.. no calls.
the only thing i get everyday is insults from my Father and some relatives of how lazy and weak i am...this is not fair life itself is not fair..is it not better to die? after working hard in school and after school for about 8-10 years no result for it..
People will always say dont be tired but my brother i don tire... i know many of us have same story, but for me the only thing i can do to make the pain easy.. is write..
Nigeria is not worth it.. did i tell you i briefly went into business?.. but how can you do well in business without long time experience.. it is always difficult..well, the pressure is much and i see that breaking point is close... only God knows Tomorrow.
These days the only thing that comes to my mind is suicide..i have downloaded lots of books to see if i can find a solution.. but none yet.. please if you have good advice for me i am willing to hear it.
thanks E Joshua This is not a job opportunity or offer but, send your CV to contact@mesonets.com . If l see anything worthwhile, I'll let you know. |

malton: I didn't mean it it like that.
What I am saying is, what deal can Biafra offer a resource-rich Niger-Delta?
They are the ones with the resources, I don't see why they should go with Biafra so she could offer them a better deal than Nigeria currently does.
Can they not stand on their own? Did you read my original submission? They are not fighting for anything except their stomach. Their story revolve around oil. Natural resources is not a true resource. Would Niger deltans know that there was oil thousands of feet below them? Is it not Oyibo (human resources) that discovered it? Do you know that microchip is made of silicon which is sand! Microchip powers your phones, computers and every smart device. The most valuable company in the world is Apple that manufactures devices using microchip and not ExxonMobil or Shell. So true resources are people who can innovate not mineral resources. Reread my submission, South South life revolves around oil, nobody is forcing them to join any group. They can continue to drink ogogoro in their creeks |

You hardly see that level of poverty in southeast villages. Most menial jobs are done by so called rich Niger deltans. They in a big dream because they have been raped and at tge same time blinded. |

jomonic: Yes we need to change the agenda and make if an agitation for a strictly Igbo speaking Biafran State. If we show some measure of resolve here, it will agitate the Nigerian state to no end. Even our indifferent neighbors will feel very exposed and unprotected under Nigerian control. They will also want out at some point. But they must work it out by themselves. Luxembourg is number 1 in GDP per capita in the world. Yet they are landlocked. Japan has no natural resources except resourceful citizens. Same with Singapore etc. Yet Saudi cannot compete with them in development despite pumping 11M barrels of oil daily for a smaller population.

jomonic: What I come to understand is that the minorities prefer a one Nigeria where the majority tribes are checkmating themselves to the advantage of the minorities. They foresee extreme injustice if they end up in a country as described thus: Hausa / Fulani / middle belt, or Igbo / Rivers / Akwa Ibom / Cross Rivers, SW / Edo and Delta and Bayelsa. Its for this reason that Rivers / Akwa Ibom / Cross Rivers are indifferent to the cause of IPOB. I even believe they can still sacrifice the Igbo for a better relationship with the Yoruba or Hausa / Fulani no matter the extent of sacrifice the Igbo make to prove their sincerity. What is the way forward? I think it is best to agitate strongly for a Biafran State devoid of any of these southern states. South Africa extricated itself off the apartheid regime in spite of the regime's economic and military strength, world wide support from the western countries. Nigeria is a midget and offers much less challenges. We need to strategize and stay focused. Yes Biafra will be landlocked but it does not matter. We will survive like several other landlocked states spread all over Africa and other parts of the world. It calls for intensifying our struggle to be free from Nigeria. There can never be a deal worse than our present condition in Nigeria. If Southeast seeks for independence, they might get it in record time. South South will betray them again. Nigeria is interested in oil while igbos are interested in freedom to do their own thing. History seems to be repeating itself. |

TonyeBarcanista , you are enlightened, you know points raised are true. Move through Bayelsa villages, Delta creeks. I have been there, even cluster villages close to Bonny. What their boys are good at is playing football, impregnating young girls. It's the women that farm and fetch firewood. It's a horrible sight. No guidance, no education, no nothing. A few elites and militant kingpins keep using them for their personal gains. It's similar to northern elite use of almajiris. |

EvilMetahuman: what do igbos have to offer in this good deal?
South south have the wealth, they have bigger lands, they have water/port and everything to own a country.
What exactly does south east have to offer south south that would make them want to join your dreamed utopia of potopoto? South South thinks oil is wealth, which can be collaborated by your statement (first error). If you offer them to control their oil wealth, they would jump at it. Mind you, richest economies in the world are not oil economies. Wealth is people not natural resources. My fear, they would kill each other in their greed. Hopefully a bigger group like Nigeria or Igbos will keep them together. Just saying the facts. They Niger deltans know this |

TonyeBarcanista: Considering that Niger Deltans are "purposeless" according to you, the appropriate thing to do is to save yourself the trouble of these purposeless people and focus your agitation on your purposeful group.
All these blackmail will not sway the minds of people into the Biafraa project.
FTR: Each ethnic nationality within the SS zone have their agenda... Sadly, not one of them is pro Biafra. It however doesn't mean they are against Biafra, what this means is that they aren't aligned to the cause. That is the beginning of failure, how many ethnic nationalities- 500, 1000? Isoko, Urhobo, Agbo, Anioma, Ukwuani, Ijaw, Okrika, Ndoni, Etche, Ikwerre, Anang, Ibibio, Efik, Eleme, Ogoni, Itsekiri, Ndoni, Igbanke etc. You see how stratified? Most of these groups are linguistically related, yet they segregate due to oil curse. I expressed a statement of fact, not forcing anyone to join any group. What happened to their agitation for Niger Delta republic? They can just survive on their own. See what's happening in Omoku? |

Write up was spot on They will actually be a thorn in the flesh for Igbos, because they are purposeless. It may be a recreation of mini Nigeria . One thing Inland igbos lack is a direct access to the ocean. I say inland because most coastal igbo cities have been corrupted by oil curse , hence they deny their origins. |

Politics › South South - People Without A Purpose by mesoprogress(op): 6:09am On Jun 02, 2017 |
I have watched with utter dismay the sloppy attitude of people living in the region called South South or Niger Delta. They seem to be a people without a unity of purpose and never fought any cause to a logical end.
I remember the militant time Asari Dokubo, Tompolo and others. We thought they would get something tangible for their people, alas they all sheath their swords with government giving them juicy contracts. Then came the Avengers, who couldn't achieve anything. Niger Delta Avengers further aggravated environmental damage in Niger Delta for the personal gains. What a shame
Having travelled through Niger Delta, through the Creeks, including Tompolo's place, I can tell you these people are living in abject poverty with Oil companies destroying their ecosystem. But they seem not to be perturbed by their plight, rather they fight themselves and for irrelevant issues.
One thing noticeable in this region is what I call the "oil curse" . Their youths do not work hard believing that they have a God given wealth below. Most of these communities do not even support Biafra thinking it's a plot to reap their oil. Once I was with an Etche man who denied being Igbo (because of oil curse). He said before they can join Biafra, they would give Igbos condition. I have seen my friends in Niger Delta echo the same concern. They want to be consulted, and possibly assured they get for example 70% of oil sales.
What does this mean? Niger Delta people have no agenda of theirs, it all revolves around oil. They will be annexed by the highest bidder, either the current occupant FGN or Igbos if they get a "good deal". This is a very bad development. A people should have a well defined purpose. We have Northern agenda, South West agenda, Igbo agenda. Igbos want out, they have fought before and ready to get their nation anytime. Northern Nigeria are bent on keeping the nation one because of ND oil. The West benefits from the whole chaos. They are the most stable region with Lagos having almost the largest economy in Africa.
Niger Delta agenda or purpose is yet to be known. Fight for proper restructuring - No. Join Igbos wholeheartedly and get your nation - No. You become a chaff blown by winds. |

Crime › Hit And Run By A DPO At Elele by mesoprogress(op): 2:10pm On Apr 23, 2017 |
As I was travelling back from Imo state to Port Harcourt, a white Hilux with tinted glasses made a dangerous over take hitting my vehicle(with my children inside) in the process. This happened at the boundary, but in Rivers side.
My thinking was that the vehicle would stop, but to my utter surprise, it continued speeding at more than 150km/h. There were up to five check points between boundary and Elele roundabout. My thinking was that I would meet the vehicle at the next check point. The vehicle continued speeding through check points without being stopped. Finally he was slowed by other vehicles, causing a little traffic. At that point, I managed to pass the Hilux and stopped at the next check point, blocking the road intentionally, telling the police men on duty that there was a hit and run vehicle coming behind. This checkpoint is immediately after Madonna University entrance road.
The mobile men swung into action. They asked me to pack well. To my greatest surprise, when they saw the vehicle, they did nothing. In fact, the occupants of the vehicle that hit me dropped their indented vehicle and continued their journey with the mobile police vehicle on standby.
It was at that point the mobile men told me that he is their DPO, that commissioner of police visited his station in his absence, and he was rushing to meet up.
They now told me to drive down to their station, close to Elele roundabout, that perhaps he might pay for the repair. I was furious and asked how can he hit a vehicle with little children and he couldn't even stop?
The mobile men laughed and said they talking about commissioner and I'm talking about children. He said that even if he hit and killed people, he would not have stopped because the commissioner was waiting for him.
I was really tired at this point, I just left them and continued on my journey. I wonder how our policemen are trained with no regard even to children's life.
Perhaps the DPO did not want to enter his station without police vehicle, and the unmarked accidented white hilux might beg some questions from commissioner. This is what I met today. |

How to be an instant millionaire as a whistleblower:
1. Locate anywhere ghana must go bags is being sold:
2. Try to identify anyone buying two or more Ghana must go bags.
3. Follow the person without the person noticing that you are following.
4. If the person goes to a high class neighborhood, you are on your way to being a millionaire.
5. Hang around the neighborhood until you see the movement of the ghana must go bags and the rest is left to you.
Other ways to be an instant millionaire include:
1. Hang around the cemetery to look out for what is being buried in the grave. It could be $$$$ or ££££ or €€€€ or ####.
2. Apply to be either a cook or a driver or a house help or PA to a big oga or a minister or legislatootors or custom officers or top military officers officers. If you get a job with a Governor, you already a millionaire.
3. Slip into anywhere a soak away is being dug and find out what is going into the soak away . Ditto for overhead tanks.
4. Go into un-completed buildings and check for signs of an unusual activities there.
If you don't succeed after trying these methods, blame the old woman from your village. |
Family › What Is The Hardest Thing(s) About Raising Children In Nigeria? by mesoprogress(op): 7:18pm On Apr 18, 2017 |
Saw this on Quora, found it interesting. https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-hardest-thing-s-about-raising-children-in-Nigeria/answer/Uche-Metuh?share=61557414&srid=hHfHK
What is the hardest thing(s) about raising children in Nigeria?
The hardest thing about raising children in Nigeria is our morbidly extreme disciplinary measures and absolute transfer of culture to the children.
Let me explain,
Extreme discipline makes children timid and lack self confidence. Most adults suffer from the aftereffects of this till date.
When you don't allow the child to have their own opinions or think for themselves, they'll pretty much drag their feet through life like zombies. They can't question or challenge anything without being punished for being “disobedient”. They can't live the life they were born to live but the life their parents have defined for them.
The result: They'll lack creativity & innovation and constantly wait for “momma & poppa” to come to tell them what to do. They also will make poor leaders. Does this sound familiar? Our dumb Nigerian leaders.
Transfer of cultures to children is simply the raising of kids with literally a gun to their heads threatening them to follow in your footsteps or be shot dead! This can be observed in areas of: Religion, tribal sentiments, sexual orientation, religious denominations, career choices, spousal choices etc.
Have you looked around our environment? Very few new ideas are being developed (& recycled). In fact, we’re slowly creeping back to the stone age.
Our parents are the #1 teachers we meet in this life & their success/failure determines to a large extent what our progress in life will be like. & to be sincere, many of them innocently do a terrible parenting job!![quotes |
