Good evening fam,
My baby is 3weeks old and my mom in law wants to start giving her water. How safe is this please? I breastfeed and give her Nan formula as well. But i do more of breastfeeding .pls help

Lol just go to the market, where dey sell baby things or a pharmacy dey wud give u, its like a bed pad used in hospitals for delivery.

Good morning mama's. Please, what are the things I need to pack In my hospital bag for Normal delivery or CS?

I've packed 3 Ankara wrappers and tank tops, disposable pant, 4 lady Sept pad, soap and sponge, toothpaste and toothbrush. My hospital gave baby list but didn't give me any. What else do I need please?

Just pack all your toiletries, nightingale, cotton pads. That should be all you need. You can get provisions to snack on for VD.

My journey to motherhood
I got married in march 2015 to one Mr Nice guy laik that . The TTC journey began in earnest as i had history of PCOS. The wait started and months soon rolled into years.
After 6 months i knew i had to start doing something. Hubby felt there was no need to rush.
After several tests n rounds of treatments, most doctors advise we still keep trying as he thinks our case wasn't so severe. But i was tired of waiting and so many other things were stalled somehow as i had to consider our TTC state b4 taking any decision. I sacrificed some juicy opportunities in my career ,unable 2do somethings i would wish to do and soon i started feeling all alone...My hubby was all i had.
In March 2018 i set out to take a bold step. To go the IVF route. Things started.. tho hubby felt i was in a rush he was supportive. I had OHSS which made the transfer of embryos postponed but alas upon transfer in the next cycle i got a BFP with 2 fetal poles seen at 6weeks.
I and hubby were overjoyed.

So the wonderful journey began. At a point the other twin was without hearbeat and soon began to vanish (vanishing twin syndrome ) but we were still happy one stayed. Wetin we for do if none remained?

The journey was smooth,no MS, no swelling except 4a growing tummy, no cravings asides the road side food i had always liked. Baby was gentle in the womb too. It was a smooth ride that my bosses had to sometimes remind me i was pregnant.

My hospital was however very careful with management. I got a preventive cerclage at 12weeks n at week 28, i was admitted for fetal lung maturation where i was given steroids to mature baby's lungs in case she came preterm
(All these weren't compulsory but i didn't want to take any chances)
By week 35 I began to feel tired n the reality of the pressure hit me. Sometimes i was scared of opening my leg to get out of bed.

At week 37 i went for my antenatal appointment my doc said he didn't know i was 37weeks as he would have called me to come in for a cs but as it is he would deliver me d next day as he wouldn't want me to fall into labor with my cerclage still in place n didnt want to loosen it since I'll have travel back to my location and didnt want me to fall to labor on the road. I was like.... just laik dat oga calm down first.... i wasnt ready but hubby was already considering it.

We concluded on having the ELCS for precious baby after my 38th week as noone around me wanted to take any chances, i succumbed n leggo of my initial vaginal delivery with epidural plan.

On the D day,i was prepped n so was hubby. I chose hubby to witness the procedure while i watched it on screen too ( i could decide not to watch the screen though) hubby kept asking if i really wasnt feeling d pains from the cuts n pulls. In abt 5mins my baby was brought out weighing 3.4kg n she cried. A beauty to behold. Hubby held me n said "thank you n congratulations you're now a mum" she was brought for me to se. She was taken to neonatal unit 4evaluation while the closing of the incision began That took about 45 minutes or so. When all was done, i was taken back to my room. I had requested for epidural after the CS to relief the pain that comes after CS. This was one of the best decision i made as i was pain free for the next 48hours again.

I was allowed to rest while baby was in neonatal unit n evertime hubby goes there they had to remind him of the time he had spent.

After 3-4 days of monitoring, baby had mild jaundice and was commenced on phototherapy as the levels were increasing. This got me scared n unstable as she was sometimes awake all night n i couldn't get rest. My BP began to increase n i couldn't even sleep. My chest became so heavy. I cried to my satisfaction that i requested for sedation. My emotions were just all over the place. After everything i was fine n baby was fine too n discharged home.

I'll like to say that, if you have access to an health insurance please make use of it. It relieves the financial burden when some surprise treatment springs up.

We thank God for everything in our lives. Please pardon my boring n long write up.

I'm fine thank you. However emotionally not so stable. So many things. Baby undergoing phototherapy. Nothing too serious tho,but hospital doesn't take chances. just d emotions leading to HBP. I need so much rest but just cant seem to be able to sleep. It's hard. Incision has healed good.

Massage your breast with hot water. Wrap it in a hot towel while bathing.
Clean the nipples very well and keep putting her to breast.
The nipple seems hard but it is her constant sucking that will soften it.
It will be painful at first but don't worry the pain will only decrease.

Give baby food please so she can poop as much black or brown poop as possible, as soon as the poop turns yellow, you are in the safe zone from jaundice.

Mummy mummy, thanks for your response, her poop color is gradually changing color from that dark brown. I will do the hot towel therapy. Gracias

Sorry dear, massage with hot water, lubricate nipples with olive oil,after cleaning with face towel and water. it's a matter of time and you will get the hang of it.

Pele. Don't waste the colostrum, it can't be too hard for her to suck, just keep putting it in her mouth.
You can massage the breast with hot water, but then she has to suck for you to get major relief, it would start with little colostrum and soon there would be breastmilk all over the place. Also, drink plenty of water and other fluids. I take plenty hot pap like 2 or 3 times a day whenever I'm trying to establish breastfeeding, usually helps the breast start flowing cuz sometimes they feel engorged yet nothing is really coming out.

How has she been feeding for the past 3 days? I formula fed GB for almost three weeks before I got the hang of breastfeeding, with my son, I formula fed for 3 days. So if the breast is not co-operating yet, the child has to eat somehow while you keep trying.

Good morning, im a new mum, and my baby is just 3days old. My breasts are very engorged and they hurt badly, please what can i do? I have tried giving her to suck but the nipples are too hard for her to latch on and i tried extracting via breast pump but only little colostrum left, yet my breast feels like stone. Help a new mum please.

BS!!! BS!! BS! (Finale)

The contractions started intensifying by midnight and i thought i could pull through same way i did the previous night but omo, i almost ran mad. By 2am 13th Feb, hubby and i said we cant take it anymore and dats how we went off to the hospital. My sisters in d lord i saw hell fire, the consultant for the Cs wasnt on ground so i was kuku just left there to see if labour will progress and what not. By 6am i was only 4cm dilated . I started shouting they should call the doctor i dont want to push ooo (the doctor was still on his way, i guess he delayed in coming because he was told babys heartbeat was very fine).

Erm i fink my story is getting too long. Anyway the summary of it all is that by 9.28am on the 13th of Feb my darling princess was brot out of me via CS and when i heard her ist cry i couldnt hold mine back (wipes tear). She weighed 3.8kg (side eyes at the scan result)....She is more than what i asked the lord for and I cant thank him enough. We have been discharged and im recovering fine. Baby is fine, momma is fine, hubby is fine.

Speedy recovery to all the mamas that have delivered and those yet to deliver. The lord is your strength and he will do it for you even much more than he has done it for me.

BS!! BS!! BS! Part one!!!!(Side eyes at who will complain)


I got married in April and as God will have it i took in the next month, LMP May 10th and that was how d journey to a feb 14th ,2019 baby began. Oh hubby and i were super excited.

My pregnancy journey was smooth aside the first trimester. I saw hell, morning sickness dealt with me so badly dat i said i wont be having another baby anytime soon but look at who is ready again (2021vision).

On the 11th of Feb , i saw “the bloody show “. I panicked a bit but later calmed down. I started feeling irregular contractions ( oh boy, dey hurt badly)... Later that evening i went to the hospital and upon VE i was told my cervix is still closed.

The next day i went for my gynea appointment and i was asked to run a scan, scan showed that baby weighed a whooping 4.5kg (hand on my head) . Thats how the consultant said i will be having an EMCS that very day oh and i should be admitted immediately . i sha ran out of d hospital because i wasnt even a tad bit prepared for the recovery and all that. I concluded within me that i will go back for the EMCS on the 14th ( at least to bring forth vals baby according to my EDD) but baby said no....

Baby was born today 13th Feb at 9.26am via emergency CS. Princess and i are doing great. She weighed 3.8kg.

Till today,she is yet to say why she did it.It was a very strange something to us and i would later hear that some women do it.that sometimes the fear of the pain blocks their thinking faculty and instinctively they close their legs.

I cant imagine getting to the finishing line and then bloxk my baby when all i want is the pain to go away.If keeping my legs 1000m apart will make the baby come out then in game

My cousin did that during her labor.No matter how they cajoled and begged her,she woukdnt budge.I was the on with her at the hospital.She is the type that has high threshold of pain.

They. confirmed she was 10cm dilated but she stood up and walked out to the hospitals reception.It was the security that bundled her back while they tied her legs and luclkiy the baby's head slipped out.

I shuddered that day.She was lucky hers was a private hospital,if not the matrons will finish her

Sorry i am not understanding... why will a woman be 10cm dilated and not open her legs to push? I dont get it please.

My amazing mamas please I don't understand my body since morning. Dh reach town last night so being away for some weeks, I said let me service jajaina small oo.

Now, my stomach is something else. As if baby is doing weight lifting and press ups. He will just stretch himself to one side of the stomach then after sometime he will change position and continue .

At such point the stomach will be so hard and strong.

Is it normal my sisters? We are 26w5d gone.

Hahahahah, please take it easy next time. Do only pregnancy safe styles biko. Although i notice my baby gets more active after I exercise. So it could also be dat, u know sex is an exercise too. Im sure its nothing to worry about. Hope you came sha?

God bless u sis. my ex husband kept warning me not to give birth to my second child Tru CS because no money.out of worries I kept avoiding addmission after two weeks of my EDD and told the matron am going to bring my bag with hope that I will fall in to labour and have a vaginal birth.finally I fell into labour and despite the excruciating pain in which I was rushed to the hospital,I wasn't dilating at all(closed cervix). my ex husband then called me to ask if I have given birth,I then told him I haven't but am in serious pains.my ex husband then said ' why did u stress me bring you to the hospital when u know u wunt give birth till now that hope I no there is no Mony for CS so I shuld be strong for labour o'. AT that point I made up my mind to do the right thing to save myself and child.

immediately he hunged up the call,I called my mum and explained tins to her ND what I have decided to do incase labour isn't progressing. I told her not to tell my ex husband anything till I have my baby. my mum transferred money to my account for withdrawal to deposit for CS kits and I personally signed the CS consent form myself then I was wheeled into the theatre.i didn't spend up to 40 minutes before I had my baby and got sewn up.

my neighbour who works at the hospital relly helped out wit a lot and she informed ex husband of delivery.only for him to get to the hospital and started yelling at me despite being unable to move at all due to the Anastasia that was given before the operation. I just stayed calm with my baby alive .

I later had bleeding but GOd took control,the healing took time but am perfectly fine now with my kids.

So insensitive. You did the right thing my dear. May God continue to keep and uplift you and your little ones.

Birth Announcement!!
My Yoruba angel was born this morning February 7, 2019 at 7:19am PST, weighing 8.9lbs, 20.5inches long, Vaginal birth and no tears. He was born within 5 minutes of pushing and between two contractions. God indeed showed up for me.
