What's the best mortgage advisor to use, free or paid ?
Cheers. . Wrong thread. But I used Bishopgate. Very professional. Even when the first property fell through , and went for the second one , the only extra charges were just the one expended on searches. Their reviews are also good. |

Inside life jedisco: Hehe.. you now have the opportunity to engage me on an issue so dear to your heart but your circling around. Later, you'd start clutching straws
You seem more focused on Canada so I'd share- Canada so far has been fab. Did hit the ground running and returned to the UK after a while to pay my allegiance to King Charley and pick up my kpali. Weather in Cana has been brill though I'm not looking forward to winter. Roads, cars and houses are spacious and gallant. Financially its been quite good and this is coming from someone who earned circa £200k in my last UK tax year. I'd give a snippet -in all my years in the UK, my bank no even sabi me. In weeks of getting to Canada, I don get 2 account officers - one perosnal and the other for my professional corp. When I have issues, I send emails and they call. Within weeks, I have access to 370k cad in funds (yes 370k). There's more.... Over 300k of that is a line of credit with quite favourable rates. I'd put in in perspective- the rates on my line of credit (LOC) are less than what I'm paying my UK bank for my buy-to-let mortgage. And that LOC is freely available to me to draw down and pay back at anytime I see fit. I was already considering a few more BTL in the UK but I say not now...let us see where the UK is headed first. I'm now waiting for the next market crash to show some luv. Nobody can accuse me of not having 300k to take risk . Of late, my bank has informed me they are willing to approve upto 1m cad for a mortgage within months of arrival. Guess what? my line of credit can be used as the deposit. Hehe... This is the definition of giving someone a wife, then going ahead to buy them bed plus a packet if viagra- no excuse not to kerewa. I'm sure, they'd next pass me on to their insurance providers to discuss options. As pastor Adeboye said, may God give us good problems. I shout Amen.
Cars wise, I no wan talk. Cars abi trucks big pass UK house (look up RAM 3500). I was in a delership recently as I was torn betwen a Lexus, a Lincoln, an Infinity or a Genesis. The way car delerships chase one reminds me of market boys in 9ja... one said he'd pick me from my house and drop me at home.... I said, young man, take am easy. Them go use call harass you. My deal was signed at 9pm - over an hour after they had officially closed. I was wondering, this wouldn't happen in the UK. Capitalism can be sweet ooo
Well that's enough for Canada. Lets focus on the UK as per the title of the thread. Why not ask what's happening in the UK make I give u update. Pensions, ISAs, BTLs e.t.c. You might also ask me to further demonstrate why you're not inferior to folks u see around u |

NewT123: Hi guys, my property offer has been accepted and the estate agent is asking for proof of ID and my solicitor’s details so they can send the sales pack. However, I am still waiting on a good deal from my broker as the one I was offered had higher interest rates and compulsory product fees payable upfront. Do I wait till all is sorted before replying the estate agent right? Don’t want to leave too much communication gap and don’t want to commit without until i get a favourable mortgage offer. Although I have sent our ID to them and said I am still finalising with my solicitor and will let them know today I am confused here. Are you referring to Mortgage in principle ? How can you get a mortgage offer when you have not applied or known the exact figures ? I thought you are supposed to first accept an offer , get a solicitor and then apply for mortgage? I am confused here. You are already taking of a favourable mortgage offer when you are not through with the basics. Pardon me if I am missing something here |

Jamesclooney: Hi Elders,
I feel like I’m missing a trick here and would appreciate if someone could confirm whether or not there’s a better way.
I’m flying out from Heathrow with the family (2 adults, 1 infant). I live approx 2-hour drive from Heathrow airport. Why are all the airport transfer options costing me £300+ (return journey)?
A) Pre-booked private taxi hire – £330 B) Enterprise self-drive car hire – £320 C) Drive my own car and park at Heathrow Airport for 2 weeks – £500 to £600
I don’t know anyone who lives in or around Heathrow/London axis where I could park my car on their drive or in a bay.
Train + taxi is roughly the same cost and travel time, plus the added inconvenience of changing over in central London to reach Heathrow Airport.
Any suggestions or make I close eye park the 300 quid? (E go pain me sha 🥲)
Thank you where do you live? Perhaps someone will run it for you from here cheaper |

Bwisewiturvote: Hail the gurus in the house Please i don't mean to digress from the ongoing matter Just two quick questions way dey worry me.
1) me and our kids have been drinking the Thames water, I mean tap water and I have heard some many different views about how safe it is to drink it infact the last one that got me so worried was when someone mentioned in the heat of an argument that she suspects the tap water contributes to the level of autistic kids...
I realised I usually see white colour substances deposits-sticked to the kettle or pot after boiling water... wondering if same substances deposits inside the body after drinking. We are Beginning to consider bottle water but the consumption and cost no go be here Please your candid advise
2)I have been over 3years in the country and have been striving really hard to climb the property ladder but we keep spending out of 10% deposits savings (saved in separate account) though some spendings are inevitable financial obligations. Please is it a bad idea or decision as a first timer to jump into Rent to buy scheme or shared ownership option to secure our first home? Abi all we need is more strictly financial discipline on our deposit savings as the thing keep fluctuating Thank you gurus, Your input would be highly appreciated Una thank you very much Bros/Sis, For the second part , don’t compete with anyone. Take your time to make savings . Jejeje you will get there. You are only 3 years old in this country , why pressure yourself. Do what works for you. Circumstances are usually different, while some buy under 3 years , others take 10 years. No go put pressure on yourself and end up making bad decisions. Take it easy , you will get there at Gods speed |

I have a question, I live abroad and you hardly see bonds that give above 5%. So I am wondering why? Is it now safer to save money through this particular dollar MMF rather than conventionally saving or investing abroad. How come they make more money and roi is more than bonds themself in Europe? |

lilmonnie: Congrats… great news
When during the process of getting on the property ladder does one need a solicitor..
BTW, I sent you an email, awaiting your kind response to contact you.
Cheers Stage 1: Get your deposit ready 1.2Get a mortgage advisor(if you like, but I didn’t use any. I just talked straight with Barclays when my offer was accepted ) 2: get Deposit in Principle(you can DIY, if not using a Mortgage advisor ) 3. Check for the house you and when your offer is accepted , then you can engage a solicitor as well as a Surveyor to carry out home survey 4. Talk to the bank (Halifax and Barclays are visa friendly) 5. Other back and forth……… |

DadR: Hi,
I assume you’ve been on a skilled work visa for close to 3 years, hence the 5% deposit offer.
Please do you know if they can also extend same offer to someone who is 2.6 years old in the UK but not on a skilled work visa yet?
Thanks I don’t know. But just walk into a Barclays Bank and give it a trial. It’s free. |

As seen on a Facebook page this morning. So Barclays can give mortgage to those on one year visa (15%) . I think their rules are changing. I also applied directly to Barclays although I am close to three years here and the Barclays Bank mortgage officer was telling me that they can even give me for 5% deposit. I didn’t want 5% as I was more comfortable with 10% deposit.

Is it proper for me to request for the vendor's phone number from the estate agent? How long ago was the enquiry sent ? Some times it takes time to respond , depending on the nature of the enquiries. Sometimes what your solicitor is asking will be dependent on a third party or what might take time to get . Mine response is also being awaited and it’s been two weeks already. |

Ticha: Agreed. A broker is mainly useful if your situation is not straightforward therefore you need a broker to suss out what will for you. If you've decided to use Barclays and have an AIP from them, then you don't need a broker. . Thanks |
Travel › Re: Living In The UK: Property,Mortgage And Related by mex551(m): 6:42pm On Sep 26, 2024 |
Goodenoch: No. Using a broker is pointless in this situation. Their only value, especially for people who don't have ILR, is in getting deals in the first place because only a limited number of places offer those deals. Since you have an AIP, adding a broker at this stage would just add an additional layer of red tape.
Personally, our brokers have been helpful but the only reason we went with them is that we're not both up to 2 years in the country so wanted the advice of experts to pre-screen lenders who could accept that. Since you already have an AIP after a conversation with a mortgage advisor, it means they've confirmed you meet all the criteria and the only thing you'll need to do is supply the documents for their checks. All a broker will be doing is getting the request from the bank and passing to you, and then passing the docs you supply onto the bank.
Note - I'm far from being an expert in this so I may be missing something. Hopefully Madam Ticha et al will provide some more authoritative guidance. . Thanks |
