Manuelmarvyy: Hello Guys, Good Evening Bosses here Has anyone here applied for a USA tourist Visa from the UK as a skilled worker in the UK? Please what is the process like? I want to Visit the USA God's grace. What documents are requested? I stay in the UK legally as a skilled worker (Healthcare). I have been living in the UK since March last year. I want to visit the USA.
Please someone who has the right information to apply for a Tourist Visa to the USA from the UK as a skilled worker, please tell me what I need and how much I need to have in my account before application. Many thanks . It is a simple process. If you have your skilled worker visa. Just apply. Attach all relevant documents. Who you are visiting , if staying in a hotel, attach the details etc. and then they give you 5 years. I applied few months ago and stated the 4 denials I had from Nigeria and they still gave me 5 years! Please note that I never travelled to any European country before that appointment. They didn’t ask me for bank statement etc. just what I do for living here in the uk and who I was visiting in 🇺🇸 I think that generally if you have skill worker visa or a dependent , it’s very easy to get. I also has a friend here in Nairaland who applied with his family and they gave them 5 years. Am going for my trip this August and when I come back I will go and collect Canada 10years. Yes that the privilege we enjoy from here. |

Are they aware that you are on. Visa and still want to do 5%? leoshadow: Hi Everyone,
Apologies for the long post.
I’ve been following this thread, and I have to say, you all are amazing, especially @Lexus. Initially, I wasn't a fan of your mantra "Rent money is dead money," but now I see your point (After I calculated my rent) that na people Dey beg me not to buy house lol.
I've been in the UK for 1 year and 7 months, and I believe it’s time to start looking for a house. Last week, I found a new build for about £200k with a 5% deposit contribution, which means I need £10k. I called the developer to inquire, and they confirmed it's available. They ask if I almost had my 5% deposit ready and I said I only have about £5k (truthfully, I have nothing saved yet) and would need about two months to complete it. I said this so they wouldn’t think I was unserious. My plan was to raise the deposit in two months as follows:
My monthly salary is close to £4k. I have ₦10 million saved in my Nigerian account and receive about ₦1.5 million monthly from my company in Nigeria. I plan to save my UK salary for the next two months, which will give me £8k, and transfer an additional £2k from my Nigerian account. I can cover my monthly bills with funds from my naira account.
The developer asked me to speak with their mortgage advisor, who said I qualify for the house. Now, they are requesting proof of my deposit and my bank statements for the past six months. I informed the developer that I don’t have the complete deposit yet, hoping they would give me more time, but they asked me to submit the information for the £5k deposit to move forward.
Here’s my dilemma: Raising the £5k is not a problem as I will be paid my salary this week, but I’m concerned that they might question why the deposit is coming from my recent salary and start asking how I will manage my expenses. If I don’t answer them, I fear they might think I’m whining them (Nigeria in me talking) and stop responding to me later on. Dem dey my neck like anything
Any help will be appreciated. |

Jokes apart, just an appreciation post for everyone ‘s contribution on here (as well as Chidera Peters on YouTube). The guidance received from this forum has been invaluable. Visited over 12 developers/sites; didn’t care about the fuel burnt because a house is a big deal and even if I didn’t like some houses/location, it helped us narrow it down as we discovered what we liked/didn’t like.
KEY DETAILS House type - Newbuild Developer - Persimmons Lender - Halifax (90% LTV) Incentives - 5% deposit boost plus flooring package Mortgage rate - 4.97% ,5yrs fixed (although rates dropped to 4.87% when it was 2 weeks to completion) LISA bonus - £6k (my wife and I) in the space of 15months, took advantage of the tax windows Mortgage adviser - Threshold Financial Services (got the recommendation from this thread)
Ps - send funds because everywhere don dry. Surviving on tap water till further notice. . Please how many months bank statement did Halifax demand from you? Some said they demand only one month bank statement |

Happy new year Fam. Has anyone ever made a house deposit with proceeds of Contributions (Ajo/isusu) ? What was the reaction of the bank when they sight the monthly contributions in your bank statement?
I need direction here. For the past 8 months , I have been in a contribution, the aim is to prepare for mortgage. Sometimes in this new year around August, I intend to utilise it for mortgage deposit. I would have packed four times. (We are four in number). The question is , will this not affect my affordability when the bank check my statement and see that I pay this sum monthly? I guess is that they will see it as a monthly commitment(loan which I am paying back) and will likely affect my affordability and approval . Do you suggest I stop the contribution and rather be saving it in my account to avoid this scrutiny?
Just trying to be proactive. |

Kingkom: Merry Christmas all. I am new to the UK, September 2023. I am looking for a good credit card that can allow me to withdraw the cash and not just buying things with it. Please which one is good and advisable to apply for? . The hack for withdrawal from Amex Card is this : open a PayPal account , link your Amex card to it. Get a trusted friend to also open a PayPal account . Then transfer the cash via PayPal and it comes with zero transaction fees. Rinse and repeat. Then thank me later. But you should choose friend and family in PayPal so as to avoid transaction fee. Also label it as gift. |

Stevepop: To the glory of God, we completed the purchase of our house (new build) last week. Mentally exhausting but totally worth it. Mortgage was with Halifax (90% LTV). Relatively smooth process with attentive mortgage brokers and pro-active solicitors. We had our snagging on Friday and all issues were cosmetic, which made me so happy 'cos of the horror stuffs I've read about new builds.
Monthly mortgage is about £400 above our previous rent, we fixed for 2 years so hopefully, there will be some calm in the interest rate by the time we re-mortgage.
Grateful to everyone for the invaluable comments and advice. congratulations. It’s been long that I saw 10% deposit. Na him be say we get hope |

The examiner would rather terminate the test at any danger and this can also happen with instructor's vehicle with dual control.
The law says you can use your personal vehicle provided all conditions are met. These examiners are professionals, they don't use emotions. . When I did mine, I used my car and it was not a problem. The examiner even asked me and I said yes it’s my car. He asked if I have international license I said yes |

seyejohn94: 🔑 Hey there! Need a mortgage on a Tier 2 visa with less than 1 year in the UK? No worries, I got you covered! 🏠
Just wanted to give a shoutout to Strike, the mortgage broker that can hook you up with lenders who don't demand a whopping 25% deposit. Yup, you heard it right! You can score a sweet 10% Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratio. The catch? Make sure your combined income hits that £100k mark. 💰
By the way, if you have any questions, Bhavini is your go-to person. She's super helpful and has dealt with tons of Nigerians, so she knows the ropes. 😊
Oh, one thing to keep in mind: I'm not personally involved with this mortgage broker, but I just had to share this awesome find with you. Don't miss out on the chance to turn your homeownership dreams into reality! Hit up Strike and ask for Bhavini. 📞 £100k? Hmm |
