Poanan: U may be right i dont know. Cos i am new here but what i see is that most people bite more than what they can actually chew.
The other day i saw a student driving a jeep. Is the jeep the car he should buy now? Mind you that person has not finished paying school fees and he did not buy the jeep on credit. If the jeep is cheap he should also think about maintenance.
So many people started using the latest iphone within a short time of coming here using credit to buy a phone they could afford while in Nigeria.
I know of someone who drives a very nice benz very clean benz and this person is on minimum wage. At the end of the day, these are the people that will shout nothing in UK. Meanwhile the person is funding a temptation he cant afford for now.
I dont know if there is anything in UK cos I am still in school and I dont do more than myself for now at least. is this your business? Why drink Panadol for another? Why not mind your business here in Uk? |

kode12: Hi people, I've got a question that has always been at the back of my mind. Asking oyinbo might be a bit awkward but I'm sure naija should understand. Why are there so many kids in the UK with autism or on the autistic spectrum? It almost seems as though the Brits consider it a badge of honor saying their kids are on the spectrum or to use it to claim disability.
I've seen a lot of kids who the parents claim are on the spectrum and honestly, they seem cognitively okay, and if it were naija some proper brain resetting beating every once in a while will likely realign the child, but the parents here just seem to use "on the spectrum" as a pass to allow the kids become uncontrollable and something a complete nuisance.
Is there some kind of inherited genetic predisposition for brits to be on the spectrum or is that just some quasi-cultural thing that has become part of the medical norm for doctors to just label the kids as on the spectrum?
##Or is my perception on the matter just skewed because Nigeria doesn't do enough testing to determine if kids are on the autistic spectrum or have cognitive disabilities and just assume the child is a "dullard"? . No go there ohh. Na their ATM be that. Dem dey cash out real big. Talking of the bolded |

yemstico: Good evening great people of God. May God bless you and bless your husstles. Please I would like my Sabi people to help Torchlight on this matter as I be proper jjc.
I am moving to Coventry in 2 weeks time with my family of five on a tier 2 visa. Employer would assist in getting us accommodation while we pay. Please what are those things we should look out for in the rent terms. Is it wise to just pay for one month incase we need to move apartment or just stay put till we have gained a little ground?
Pls can someone who has lived in Coventry say something about the affordable areas and maybe a little advice as per settling down with family. Opening account, registering with GP etc.
I would have really loved if there is a little Coventry community one can familiarise with as it may be somewhat lonely in a new environment.
Thank you great people as you respond to my query. . Avoid Hillfield Area. I live in Coventry |

KOVIC19COVID20: Hello People, Due to unforseen circumstances totally beyond my control, I need to urgently book a flight to Abuja.
I intend to take EgyptAir on my return journey.
Egypt Air appears to be the most budget-friendly option (Yes, I am really tight and ££ and infact, If there were to be cheap STANDING ONLY flights, I no go mind)
If I have a 12-hour lay over in Cairo, will I be given hotel accomodation please?
Anyone with EGYPTAIR experience? Egypt air gives you hotel and feeding. They will also arrange local transportation. But the layover must be up to 7hrs or so |

giselle237: As seen on another thread. Comment 1 The new police clearance doesn’t require picking up , you can download it on your portal . You just need to create an account on possap .gov.ng, afterwards pay the 30k to the government account then go for your facial and fingerprint capturing , after a day or two the certificate will be available to download on the portal
Comment 2 I did possap ,and I think that's what everyone is doing even if u go to their office you will register and pay online .then you will go to alagbon to get ur certificate, heard the place is crowded, u wud need a police to help u quickly process ur certificate, that's when u wud need to give them extra cash.25k for non appearance, u can beg him with 20k ,u knw police and money.is free if u can go there urself. P.s I paid for the courier service. exactly as stated. |

Sinchester: I commend your sincerity on this thread and you're one of the few people i have come to respect. Mind you, i have been on this thread longer before now. I only just read as a guest and i don't comment on this forum. The reason for my statement is this. I stumbled on one of the post where someone says students are entitle to go for council house. Well, before i stumbled on debates about the information council houses here by someone on this thread, i had already fallen into that mess. Let me warn intending people who want to take that information and run with it. Students are not entitled to Council Houses. Yes, its cheaper, but you are not entitled to go for it. Its public fund. I wouldn't want to go into details about what happened to me. But someone mislead me to fall into it and the council didn't take it easy. But pls, stay away from public funds/house or whatever if you're on a student visa. it happened because you did not comprehend the issue discussed neither did you follow the discussion to logical conclusion here. So who do you blame for your lack of comprehension? Abeg no make me vex |

Sinchester: Since arriving the Uk this year, one thing i have come to know or notice about Nigerians who have lived here longer is them always claiming to know everything about anything. They always claim to be knowledgeable about everything that concerns the Uk especially when they notice you're new in the UK and seek for advice on things. My brethren, be careful with these type of people. I'd say they're 90% of Nigerians here who have these traits. They'll mislead you, give you false information and leave you to your fate if it goes wrong for you. I see some of them on this thread and wont mention name. Sometimes i wonder if they do these things intentionally just to get you into some type of difficulty or problem. I am saying this from an ugly experience i just got out of and that has made me have a rethink of wanting to really join the Nigerian community. Be mindful of "some" Nigerians here who always want to claim elder and Mr know it all. Them no sabi anything and most of them who claim to have been here longer don't have papers, na pali oni pali dem dey use and trust me, you that came in via student route, work visa are way better than them. They are filled with pure undiluted wickedness. Just my 2cent though. quite rude of you to come here and spew this nonsense. … Nairaland and it’s contributors are doing a great job and most of us are beneficiaries. Any information you get here is purely for entertainment and educational purposes. You are to cross check before you make a decision. Don’t come here and spew Trash if you can’t make use of your number six. And u get into trouble. |

ELff: Please people of God, been trying to get a date for my practical driving test in Warwick but I can't seem to find one. I have checked up till next year June and still can't find a date. I booked a date in another center far from me, one of these villages in the hope to use these canceling apps to book a date and centre of choice but it's been a month now and nothing from gov.uk site and the cancelation apps either.
Seems like Warwick. Coventry, Birmingham and Nuneaton are fully booked.
Please any advise on how to move forward will be appreciated. This non driving is really limiting me. which app are u using. I just passed my theory test today. Multiple choice 44/50, hazard perception 62/75. That 4in 1 app really helped me. Thanks to Nairalanders for recommending it. Need to book Practical asap |

99% of the time though, without UK DBS, you are just wasting your time
Btw, do you know a lot about SIA certs? . If you are new to the uk, most employers will ask for Police clearance. You can get it at Alagbon before coming. I can also give u a plug. They willl do it for you and send it to you same day or next day here in the uk. |

Newbie123: Wow. Now I'm scared. Lol. Thanks for the headsup . It’s a long process but this is what I did. Open a PayPal account and also a coin base account. Transfer your fund to coinbase. Link your PayPal account to your bank. Then withdraw via PayPal to your account. Most uk banks don’t support direct withdrawal from coinbase. But PayPal can act as intermediaries. I have used this several times. |
