Not that I am encouraging your action o. But these Chinese loan apps are not registered as finance Company. Highest any of them have, with the exception of Carbon, branch, fairmoney and renmoney, is lender's permit. They can't report nothing to credit bureau, they are not recognised.

In fact, CBN recently yanked them off from NIBSS BVN verification platform. They can't even charge you to court coz, they've already blackmailed you.

Change ( hotlist) your atm card and they can't have access to your account any longer.

You can't lecture me on this. The manner with which you guys operate clearly shows that you didn't get the necessary permits. If not, you won't be offering 6 - 7 days loan with outrageous interest rate ( usually more than 40%) and expect not to have a high default rate.

Let's assume that a credit analyst has an average of 10K he needs to recover from 100 clients within one week before his salary is paid do you expect him to start filling court cases for each of the 100 loans. Who has the time to start begging loan defaulters to repay loans?! Just adopt the most effective means of recovery you can think of.

The fact of the matter is that interest rate for loans is high in Nigeria because the risk of giving loans is very high in this country. Even an average Nigerian will never give a loan to another Nigerian because he knows it will never be paid back!

You guys are not registered ( as finance Company) and i am pretty sure you don't pay tax as well and you still have the nerves to be blackmailing your clients.

Someone defaults in paying his/her loan and the best means to recover such fund is to brand him/her and the entire family criminals on the run?!? When did a debtor becomes a criminal?! Mind you, owing is not a criminal offence, not in Nigeria or anywhere in the world.

Debt recovery procedures state, you issue the debtor a demand notice, subsequent upon, the debtor appear in court to negotiate repayment. Before which, you might have reported to credit bureau.

Sending defamatory messages to clients contacts is blackmail. And blackmailing is an offence before the law. Had it been we have a sound Judiciary system on Nigeria, you guys would have paid hugely for this.

And I checked your apps terms and conditions, I can't find where it's written that you will sending defamatory messages to client contacts upon default. And you guys(apps) doing this are not even registered for crying out loud.

Please if you know anyone who has received a damaging message from these loan apps such as sokoloan, 9ja cash should please send screenshot of the message to digitalrightsadvocacy@gmail.com. The group is collecting evidence to submit to the appropriate regulatory authorities and file a criminal complaint against them because their actions violates section 24 of Cybercrime Act of 2015.

Furthermore, such person flag the app as inappropriate on Google Play Store and write appropriate review on the app.

I am totally in support of this. If not controlled, it will degenerate into something else. These loan apps have no regards for privacy policies at all. You mined users contacts list, phone records, etc for malicious uses

You should know, owing (debt) is not a criminal offence but rather a civil wrong.

But, it baffled me how some, if not most, of you agents are so quick in tagging your clients criminals ( courtesy of your Chinese bosses) on the run with Company money. Not only does it stops there, you go as far as informing client's contacts that the whole family of the said client are fraudster and the general public should desist from transacting with them. And to make matter worse, you still expect the same client to pay you with the accumulated interest charges. Is this not madness!!!

These loan apps caused serious damage in India before they started kicking them out. Nigeria is there new home now.

Honestly, something needs to be done concerning these loan apps.

I just read the report on India case. A 23 year old guy committed suicide due to the embarrassment and defamatory messages sent to the guy's contacts. This is against Google playstore rules and CBN's policies on loans.

They need to be taken down. They damages outweighs the benefits. If they can't follow laid down rules.

Someone should compile comprehensive list of the bad ones amongst them. Lets start reporting on playstore and subsequently, send emails to CBN and consumer protection agencies.
