Dear OP,
I was thinking of upgrading a business name to a LTD. During name search I was told that the name is not available for use as a limited liability company. Is that possible?
Also, is there any limitation to the type and number of business one can do under LTD company (of course, excluding the usual ones that require proficient certificates)?

On the first issue of name availability under LLC, All proposed names presented to CAC must end with the word..." LIMITED" or LTD.. For example, ONALEK NIGERIA LTD or ONALEK NIGERIA LIMITED.. Business name and NGO can end with any word like enterprises, ventures or organisation.. Also to upgrade from Business name to limited takes a long process, first you have to pay all your outstanding dues to CAC.. And later delist the business name from there data base and later apply for the same name by adding LTD or LIMITED to it.. This process make take up to 2 months.. It os easier to register a new LLC name entirely with CAC .. Than upgrading....


On the issue of limitation of type and number of business under limited... There is no limitation, you can do as many as possible number of business under limited... So far any of your directors has a relevant certification on the choice of business... Maximum of 50 directors is allowed for LLC.. Minimum of 2... Ao u can add many professionals in your registration and allocate small shares to them and carry on with the different business...

Note : General Merchandise is allowed in LLC without any certification.. You can buy and sale any type of goods...

Your Memart also that will be prepared during the course of registration, plays an important role too.. It shd be well drafted to accommodate enough business as you want......

As a professional Engineer with COREN and vast years of experience, I wont support concrete capping on foundation block walls. Nevertheless, Circumstances make engineers/ builers sometimes compromise to this when clients give excuse of finance.

Technically, it is wrong.. Reason is just two..

1. The floor slab is suppose to be be monolithic. Casting the floor space later will cause tiny cracks along the joint... Concrete expand that is why you hear of expansion joint.. On this case.. No expansion joint.

2. When floor slab is casted monolithically, the weight of the slab is distributed evenly to all the support : Rammed floor, block wall, solid filled block wall and column as the case maybe.. Casting floor later mean the floor slab is supported solely by the rammed floor.. This is not good.

Conclusively, damping could have been managed if adequate provision of DPM was given or water repellents where used during the capping... The OP highlighted the location was water free with good Soil bearing capacity ... Which means her methodology of building is the within fair range...

But.. OP.. Put this in mind.. All Buildings have life span... Your methodology above must have in one way or the other reduced its life span.

To those asking where Coren wrote where u cant cap or separate your floor slab... There is no where u will see that.. What you will see in engineers design code where it is clearly stated that floor slab or suspended slab must be casted monolithically.
