Emusan: What is the usage of past tense verb "WAS" in that sentence?
Man, just go back to primary school for elementary English. So are you saying ' in the beginning was the word' in verse 1 means that Jesus was before the beginning? Oga think na. Another way to make that statement is 'The word was in the beginning'. How does the two statements prove that 'Jesus was before the beginning' in verse 1. |

After you already stated clearly that there can't be TWO BEGINNINGS.
I know you added "ORIGINAL OR VERY" to make it sounds like it's not TWO BEGINNINGS but it's very obvious that you want to eat your cake and also have it.
Sorry, it can't work that way.
There can't be TWO BEGINNINGS as you rightly said.
That's pure lie.
You can see you're the very one doing what you accused me of that time.
You're rewritten God's word.
No translation ever says Jesus "WAS" IN THE BEGINNING in verse one. [quote author=Emusan post=128477259]Smile...

You keep repeating this when I never said Verse 2 says anything BEFORE the beginning.
So, why the manipulation?
It's consistent because the point John made in that chapter from verse 1 is that The Word is not part of CREATION.
That is why, the phrase like "In the beginning, before the foundation of the world, before the mountains were brought fought" denote ETERNITY.
ERV isn't the only translation that did that. You keep repeating this when I never said Verse 2 says anything BEFORE the beginning. So, why the manipulation? oteneaaron: Why don't you answer the many questions I have asked you before?
Don't you think it has become one-sided?
It feels more like an interrogation.
From the onset, I told you that I am not a member of my religious group or sect.
I also told you why.
Is there a reason why you're intent on finding out whether or not I have found others who share similar thoughts as I do?
I'd like to understand why.
I'm listening. You are the one that has pointed to me a religious group that is false. But you have also failed to show me the true religion. You claim to worship God, but also claim that you've not searched or Even seen someone that worship God the 'right way' that you do. And you expect me not to be curious? Does that not mean that all of us have to ask you to show us the way to worship God like you do? |

Emusan: Very cheap excuse.
And what they were explaining is still the same.
At this point is when I gave up on you and shows that I've been discussing with a pupil.
You're a chronicle liar.
This is ERV of John 1:1 "Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God."
I've posted this same verse more than three times, yet you can speed that nonsense up.
You already agreed that there can't be TWO BEGINNINGS.
So what is your point and explanation about John 1:1-2? The point is that Genesis 1:1 is referring to the beginning of the creation of the heavens and earth. John 1:1 is referring to the Original or 'Very' beginning that refers to God's first creative act. John 1:1 state that Jesus 'was' in the beginning, not before It. verse 2 also shows that it was in that same beginning as verse 1 not before it, that Jesus was with God. So your Erv is not consistent with other translations. |
Christianity Etc › Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 11:20pm On Feb 15, 2024 |
Emusan: And your point it?
You can combine the two or you can't get ERV? You yourself know that that translation sounds contradictory. That is why most translations uses in the beginning in verse 1. Your Erv translation does not even show in verse 1 that Jesus and God were together before the world began. Verse 2 of your erv translation explains that 'Jesus was with God' as stated in verse 1, in the beginning of the world not even before it. So I don't get where you are getting your explanation from. |

Emusan: You're just going round in circles very pathetic.
Yes!
I've answered that before.
Don't take us back.
Why did you ignore my question? Oga verse 2 in your translation clearly implies that Jesus was with God in the beginning not before the world began. Why are you only showing verse 1 na? Show it together with verse 2. Why did verse 2 in your translation not tell us that it was 'before' and not 'in the beginning' of the world that Jesus was with God? |

Emusan: Kai you need to go back to primary school.
This is ERV John 1:1 again, this time read it like you want to answer it in an exam tomorrow.
"Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God."
Well, I asked you a question which you turn blind eyes to, why? If the The beginning refers to when the World began, was it that beginning in verse 2 that Jesus was with God? Where was Jesus before the beginning of the world? Oga verse 2 in your translation clearly implies that Jesus was with God in the beginning not before the world began. Why are you only showing verse 1 na? |
Christianity Etc › Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 10:44pm On Feb 15, 2024 |

Emusan: You don't even need to stress this further.
You already agreed that there can't be TWO BEGINNINGS.
So, which point do you want to make if "In The Beginning" in Gen 1:1 is different from another "In The BEGINNING" from John 1:1-2? The point is that Genesis 1:1 is referring to the beginning of the creation of the heavens and earth. John 1:1 is referring to the Original or 'Very' beginning that refers to God's first creative act. John 1:1 state that Jesus 'was' in the beginning, not before It. verse 2 also shows that it was in that same beginning as verse 1 not before it, that Jesus was with God. |

Emusan: This settled the whole thing.
So according to Gen 1:1 "Earth IN THE BEGINNING, God created the Heavens and the Earth"
I didn't add anything, you already show that you lack simple comprehension.
Take time to read my post again. Oga i have read your post. You are insisting that the beginning in John 1:1 is the same as Genesis 1:1. Now John 1:2 says that it was at that beginning that Jesus was with God. So where was Jesus before the beginning of the creation of heaven and earth? |

You can't have TWO BEGINNINGS in a system of thing.
FACT!!! I agree you can't have Two beginnings. But you are the one adding before and after to those verses which are talking about the same beginnings. Verse 2 is actually talking about the beginning in verse 1. And it explains that it was at that beginning that Jesus was with God, Not before. |

Emusan: Definitely you don't have anything to offer on this.
Bible citation is different from explanation.
One with a very high IQ reading my post will know how I place the two.
I used ESV.
you can check ✅ Oga you are obviously denying verse 2 that says that it was in the beginning that Jesus was actually with God not before the beginning. You are simply editing bible verses with your thought. |

Emusan: I'm not watchtower that twisted God's word.
I quoted a translation, don't tell me you don't read my post.
Well, I'm not watchtower, watchtower is found of doing that.
I provided a translation even the person you're discussing with yesterday quoted this translation "Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God."
The fact that you can't boldly say YES TWO BEGINNING can happen in a system of thing shows you're not to be taking serious.
Well, let me re-emphasize it again, YOU CANT HAVE TWO BEGINNINGS in a system of thing.
So both verse 1&2 are talking about the same BEGINNING.
God can't lie. The FIRST THING TO BE CREATED IN THE BEGINNING is Heavens and the Earth. Gen 1:1. So if the beginning refers to the creation of the heavens and earth in⁷ genesis 1:1 when did John 1:2 tell you that Jesus was with God? |

Ok oo....so where did you see the word before in verse 1 and 'still' in verse 2 as a continuation of the period of companionship being referred to in verse 1 which you used in your previous submission if you are not actually twisting the bible by adding words. What translation are you using by the way? Screenshot verse 2 please.... |

Emusan: Do you need hammer to knock it on your head?
The fact is THERE IS ONLY ONE BEGINNING.
So verse Two was talking about THE SAME BEGINNING.
Why is English so difficult for you to comprehend?
Verse 1 He was with God Before The Beginning Verse 2 in The very Beginning He was still with God.
How is this simple English that a pupil shouldn't find hard to understand so difficult for you?
The fact that you're trying to establish TWO BEGINNINGS shows you don't know what you're doing. Oga why are you twisting bible na.... Where does verse one say that it was before the beginning that Jesus was with God? Did you just carry the word 'before' from the air and put in verse 1?, When verse 2 is actually telling you that the companionship happened not before But in the beginning. Oga twist bible small small oo. |

Emusan: Check it very well.
You really mean you asked this question?
Didn't verse 1 establish that He was with God also?
Definitely, you just attested to my claim of the level of your IQ.
Here is verse one again: "The Word already was, way back before anything began to be. The Word and God were together. The Word was God." Yes verse 1 said that Jesus was with God. But verse 2 clarifies that 'he was with God' in the beginning not before 'the beginning' according to you. Therefore, what beginning was verse 2 referring to, if you say the beginning in verse 1 was the beginning or creation of the world? |
