Kobojunkie: Where in either verse do you get this "started" from since both verses instead suggest that the Word was?
Oga, if the word (also 'he' in verse 2), was there already before the 'beginning' of the 'world' in verse 1, what 'beginning' in verse 2 was 'he' with God? Is it the 'beginning of the world in verse 1, or another beginning?
I only said that because of the question you asked - it sounded like a question only a Jehovah's Witness would ask.
You are a Jehovah's Witness, aren't you?
I only asked you to look within and find the God you seek.
Know thy self.
The choice is yours.
Only you can make that move - you are in the drivers seat.
Remember, you can always remain where you are - that is why it is called free will.
Spoken like a true JW.
I guess my words were too cryptic for you to decipher.
I am not a member of any religious group nor sect, neither am I "associating with others" - I have no need for any of that.
I am on an everlasting path to become one with my creator.
If this is too much for you to understand, then like I said earlier, it is what it is.
Cheers bro!
Lol....so your creator cannot connect you with any other person that is serving him? And you have not even found any yet? Don't you think that you might be the only one who might be saved among all the billions of people on this planet earth?
Kobojunkie: The writer makes clear that the reference to the beginning is the same in both verses, but you seem to disagree with him. So?
Lol.....so is the writer saying that the 'he' who was with God, started being with God from the beginning of the world or before the beginning of the world? Which one?
Kobojunkie: Implying ke? Basically, God was not mute — unable to speak —before the world began.
So what beginning is verse two referring to oga? Mind you, verse 2 uses the word 'he' which shows that we are talking about a personage here. So what beginning was he with God?
Kobojunkie: You mean verse 2 does not follow the same beginning explained in verse 1?
So is verse two implying that before the beginning of the world, the word and God were not together and that they became together in the beginning of the world? If no, what 'beginning' is verse 2 referring to?
Kobojunkie: This isn't a translation issue but a simple Language comprehension problem. Jesus Christ is the Word out of God's own mouth. Certainly, God was not one a mute, was He?
Alright....in verse 2, 'in what beginning' was the word with God?
Because you don't need any man-made religious organization to find God.
Look deep within yourself and you will find what you seek.
Didn't your Bible tell you that God is a spirit?
Didn't the same Bible tell you that you are made in the image and likeness of God?
Does that not mean you are also a spirit being - just like God?
Be calm, look within and you will find what you seek.
Wetin you de find for sokoto is inside your sokoto.
Man-made religions like the Jehovah Witness cult will only keep you in an endless treadmill where instead of finding the God within, you end up worshiping a group of men who claim to be the "direct channel" to God.
These group of men even have the effrontery to say that you must obey their every word even when it doesn't make any sense.
I know that this might not make any sense to you, but it is what it is.
I repeat - you don't need any man-made religious organization to find God.
So you actually want me to follow a step which you know would not even make sense to me? But I should follow it because 'it is what it is'? Now since when you have been following God on your own and within yourself, have you been associating with others who have been doing the same as you? Are you all in agreement?
Kobojunkie: The statement means exactly what John, the author, intended for his words to mean to me. So, this other meaning you need it to mean is yours, not mine. Clearly, the author insists that the Word was(past tense) already there before the beginning. So, any other meaning is foreign to the intentions of the author.
And how can we explain verse 2 of this your translation? Which 'in the beginning' is that verse also referring to?
Kobojunkie: The statement means exactly what John, the author, intended for his words to mean to me. So, this other meaning you need it to mean is yours, not mine. Clearly, the author insists that the Word was(past tense) already there before the beginning. So, any other meaning is foreign to the intentions of the author.
Are you quoting from a translation of a Bible, if yes what translation is it?
Ken4Christ: The soul can live independent of the body. The only thing the soul cannot do is to make contact with the physical earth. It needs a physical body to do that.
God is the only one that can determine the destination of people.
So, Adam destiny was not revealed. God only talked of his body returning to the dust.
But I know that all those who were destroyed during the Noah's flood are in hell.
Sodom and Gomorrah inhabitants are also in hell.
So if the soul cannot make contact with physical earth? How come it is in hell which is in the earth according to you? So Adam may likely be in heaven right?
Kobojunkie: What the author of the book of John meant is made clear in His Gospel. You seem to want to assert a different meaning from that intended by the author, right?
Oga answer the question according to the picture below. So what does the statement 'in the beginning was the word' mean in John 1:1? Explain na. Or is the bible contradictory?
Ken4Christ: Hell is beneath the earth. The depth is so deep that no man can dig into it. For those who are dead, it's their souls that goes to hell.
The Lake of fire is a worse place of torment than hell. It's going to be made ready when the time comes. Both body and soul are thrown into the Lake of fire.
So how does the soul survive the death of the body? Is Adam also in hell fire now? I would need a biblical backup.
Kobojunkie: So Jesus Christ had a beginning and He is not ancient meaning Jesus Christ lied when He said He is the Eternal Life and the Truth of the Father, right? Jesus Christ's began when the World began and not before.
So what does the statement 'in the beginning was the word' mean in John 1:1? Explain na. Or is the bible contradictory?

So after many decades of demonising, ostracising and sometimes disfellowshiping male members who opt to wear or keep their God given natural beards. The leaders of the Jehovah's Witnesses sect has approved responsible male brothers to wear and keep beards if they choose in a recent update aired on jw broadcast dated December 15,2023.
On this update nos 8 they've agreed that is non scriptural to instruct Christians on how to look outwardly uniformly. They now accept that spirituality is the basis of Christianity not outward appearances or trying to appear or sound different from other competing religious organisations .
There's high and mixed emotions amongst the members now. Many are disappointed while few who has been scorned by elders and congregation leaders for trying to leave there beards to grow may be the only ones excited.
But personally they( Governing Body) needs to apologise to there members for trying to make them look like a cult. Cus is only a cult that that enforce a dress pattern or grooming for members from varying cultures and backgrounds all around the world
Great work so far @Emusan & @Courz - happy new year guys.
Finding out the truth about when Jerusalem really got destroyed was one of the reasons why I woke up from the JW cult.
As a student of ancient history, I have read countless reports from reliable archeologists and historians who all agree - with proof that Jerusalem was destroyed in 587BCE not 607BCE
Since Jerusalem was destroyed in 587BCE, that means the doctrine of 1914 is FALSE - "Jesus" didn't return invisibly in that year.
And since the 1914 doctrine is FALSE, then the doctrine of 1919 is also FALSE - which destroys their claim to have been selected by "Jesus" in that same year.
The 1914 doctrine is the "foundation" upon which the entire JW cult is built - once that foundation is destroyed, everything else falls apart Iike a deck of cards.
That is why the Governing Body insists that their members should not have independent thinking and must not do external research.
How can the "only true religion" teach LIES?
Once again, this is a GREAT thread.
Now that you've found out all these lies, can you point to another religious group that teaches the truth?
Kobojunkie: Is God a different being from whom He was in the beginning? Is God no longer Eternal and unchanging in His being?
I don't understand you oo. What does the statement 'in the beginning' mean in John 1:1. That is what I am asking. Are you implying that God had a beginning?
Dtruthspeaker: You mean to say Lawbacked right not legal right. legal is a power exercised by a person because he can and not because he is backed by Law. (Legal is not Law!)
That is why it is legal for bandits/agberos/colonialist to collect taxes from communities they have overrun but it is unlawful, under Law.
And in Law, all that is lawful, is moral. So, if satan has some rights on earth, he has to be on earth to exercise it.
But where did you see him torturing anyone in hell? Is it not hell itself which tortures people as is already proven?
That is why atheists call you people gullible simps who dont think and analyze whatever is given.
Ken4Christ: Your question should have been, who is in charge and not who will be in charge because the punishment is already going on for those currently in hell.
The devil and demons under his control are in charge.
But when they face the final judgement and those in hell are thrown into the Lake of fire, the angels of God will supervise their torment. The devil himself will be thrown inside. It's a liquid fire that they will all swim and cry and wail for the rest of their lives.
God is a triune being, meaning he exist in three distinct individual persons! it is difficult for we as humans to imagine it because we don't exist like that. we are mono individuals but having the imprints of the triune God.
Jesus was lesser than God simply because he became a man he was even lesser than the angels. when Jesus was not glorified he was both lesser than God and angels but when he was glorified he was still less than God but much more higher than the angels. if you keep in mind the fact that Jesus is both man and God you will understand the bible better.
Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Kobojunkie: I believe this claim of yours that it is only in role and rank is wrong considering Jesus Christ Himself explained who He is in light of who the Father is right there in Scripture for all who would pay heed to His Words to learn.
As you can see from what Jesus Christ said, He is a part of the Father but not all that His Father is.
What does the statement 'in the beginning' mean in John 1:1?
Kobojunkie: Consult the Books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John for the Words of Jesus Christ on the issue. He decreed that His Word is Everlasting — UNCHANGING — meaning that even if no single being today follows His Word, it remains UNCHANGED and UNMOVED. So, let's stop pretending that the WORD of God is only valid if a group or people follow it. That idea is of utter foolishness, an insult against the person of Jesus Christ.
Kobojunkie: You mean that anybody who is of the religion of Christianity will sha belong to sect or church? Well, Did Jesus Christ give the religion(even the religion called Christianity) to any man or people? Where in Scripture do you find this idea from?
Again, Did Jesus Christ say anywhere in His Gospel that you must attend a church to be of or have Him? What aspect of Scripture do you get this need to attend a church from?
So who and who is doing what Jesus commanded today?
