asha80:the APC gubernatorial candidate of kwara state is Abdulfatahi Ahmed..I witnessed his about to be concluded administration (4yrs of slavery to Bukola Saraki). I don't pray for another. Everything that happened in his administration happened with the approval of Bukola Saraki..even issues that requires to be treated with urgency had to wait till their so called "LEADER" comes around.. The Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has congratulated the President -Elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on the victory of the APC at the March 28 Presidential election. In a statement in Abuja on Saturday, Okupe also said that the Presidency under President Goodluck Jonathan fought a good fight. Okupe was among numerous members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, who vowed that Buhari would never win the election. The Presidential aide had added that there was no way the APC would not scatter before the elections. But in the statement on Saturday, Okupe swallowed all his earlier antagonism against Buhari and his party. He said, “Let me congratulate Gen. Mohammed Buhari on his success at the 2015 Presidential Polls. I equally congratulate my friend and brother Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Leader, and the leaders and members of the APC for this historic success.” On the good fight he said the Presidency fought, Okupe said, “On our part, we have ran a good race and fought an intense and unrelenting battle from the beginning to the end. Sometimes in the course of defending our Turf the engagements have been Knuckle- breaking and often outrightly vicious. “The fight and contest for power from time immemorial has always been fierce and intense, it has never been a sport for the Lilly-livered or the faint hearted.” He said the Presidency was grateful to God that at the end “an outstanding President was finally recognised and accepted by a large number of Nigerians nationwide.” He stated that despite that a “very good, humble and great man of immense capacity has lost this election,” the Presidency “believes that God must have approved it, hence we accept it as gallant men of faith and as patriotic Nigerians and true democrats.” Okupe added, “President Goodluck Jonathan has done once again an unprecedented act in Nigeria. As a seating President with immense powers at his disposal, he has respected the voice of the people and willingly and freely surrendered power. “In a magnanimous manner common only amongst true Democrats, he accepted defeat and congratulated the winner even while the final collations were still on. President Jonathan, by this singular act, stands shoulder taller than most leaders of his generation and even those before his time.” http://www.punchng.com/news/okupe-congratulates-buhari-tinubu/ |
Your Excellency, let me begin with congratulating you, myself and fellow Nigerians on this momentous triumph. It was indeed, a conquest of allegiance and sacrifice, and we thank you as well as your cohort for breeding the idea of and striving towards achieving this #Change. Looking at the other side of the coin, there awaits you a great burden to deal with; while those who keenly voted for you expect heaven and earth, due to your widely celebrated reputation, those that opposed you might be expecting the most tormenting hell, due to defamatory allegations of atrocity and dictatorship that they had heard about you. However, we in the northeast are not exempted. Permit me Sir, to convey to you what we in the northeast would want you to begin with, in our region; we need security of our lives and properties to be guaranteed just as it used to be, have peace living like other parts of the country and have our bloods duly accounted for. To be more specific, we have a belief that there was total negligence and insincerity in fighting the insecurity that has, for six years; killed our lives, demolished our markets, destroyed our schools, razed our villages, crippled our economy, reduced our jobs, disturbed our peace, displaced/handicapped our people, restricted our movement, bombarded our wellbeing and took us far back compared to other regions of the country. It is due to that belief that, never like before, you are now able to secure more than 90% of votes from both my state, Yobe and Borno states respectively, while securing 100% the IDPs camps. Now in the northeast Sir, everything that sustains a region/nation is being targeted at and put under aggressive annihilation. For any nation to attain sustainability, it is sine-qua-non to have all or most of the following assets in place; education, economy, farming, peace, transportation, infrastructure, healthcare services, youth, policy and information. But these are the attributes that are being massively chased with extermination in the northeast, without us enjoying the fruits of being a component of any merciful government, because the government has kept on refusing to admit that we are facing the problems, talk less of healing them, for example; when it falsified the fact that more than 2000 people were massacred in Baga, and later, after facing wide condemnation, admits but reduced the number significantly and insisting that only 15,000 people were killed throughout the span of insurgency. This kind of response causes us more grief than the damages sustained from the attacks. Finally, for the past three years, we only rejoiced widely and moved freely in my home town, Potiskum once (i.e. on 31st March, 2015) when they announced that you have won the election. There were also strategic roads in the town that we only could pass through on that very day, in the period of 3 years, due to restriction of movements. – This applies to many parts of the northeast Sir. I hope that lack of freedom, peace and confidence meets end when you descend the throne, and I pray that a ministry, commission or a special rehabilitation program be created to handle our problems. Thank you. Yours faithfully, Sulaiman Badamasi MSc. Health Informatics (CUU) sulaimanmahir@gmail.com http://leadership.ng/features/423102/letter-from-the-northeast-to-buhari |

The Police in Kano has ruled out sabotage in the death of Kano Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Alhaji Munkaila Abdullahi who died along with his wife and daughters in a fire incident on Thursday. Briefing reporters in his office, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris said preliminary investigation confirmed that Abdullahi and members of his family died out of suffocation arising from a fire, suspected to have emanated from electrical fault. Idris dismissed insinuations that the INEC boss must have been assassinated, saying there was no trace of sabotage at the scene of the incident. Reporters were escorted to the scene of the incident to verify the circumstances of the death. According to Idris, “today (Friday) at about 4:30 a.m., the police men on guard duty at the official residence of the Resident Electoral Commissioner Kano state, Alhaji Munkaila Abdullahi located at No. 2 Sir Kashim Ibrahim Road, Nassarawa GRA, Kano, observed a fire emanating from split A/C in the sitting room. “They make several attempt to get in touch with him including banging the doors and breaking some of the toilets windows but he was not responding. The police men and local guards broke the door leading to the sitting room, and discovered the sitting room was engulfed by fire and smoke. “They then went to the side of the door leading to the masters bedroom, broke the door and entered; they were not inside the bed room and the Police then went to the bathroom, inside the master bedroom and found the REC, his wife and his two daughters unconscious on the floor. “They quickly removed them to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital where the Doctor confirmed them dead. The Doctor confirmed the family died from inhalation of hot and black smoke. “Meanwhile, the detectives attached to SCID sealed the scene and together with the fire service men have commenced thorough investigation into the fire incident,” CP Idris stated. http://thenationonlineng.net/new/how-kano-inec-chief-wife-daughters-died-in-fire-incident/ |
