Do they think Nigerians have forgotten? General
Muhammad Buhari, was toppled from government for
his total disrespect for human rights, his double-
standards between the North and the South and his
obnoxious and widely hated Decree 4, targeted
especially against journalists. Is Buhari now marching
for justice and human rights side-by-side with my
good friend, Bisi Akande? The same Buhari who
cooked up allegations to jail him, that is, Akande for
10 years, and put me in detention for almost two
years for no offence whatsoever! We had both served
as commissioners with Bola Ige in the old Oyo State,
a fine and exemplary governor Nigeria ever had, before
Buhari toppled the 1979-83 democratic government!
He jailed Ige for 25 years, Jim Nwobodo for 50 years,
among others for no just reasons (Jim would probably
still be in jail now, but for the timely intervention of
Babangida). Buhari and Akande are now both
‘progressives’ marching against a duly-conducted
election. Seriously? Is it not Buhari who sent soldiers
to ransack and scatter Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s
residence in Apapa, Lagos State, and had his passport
seized – for committing no offence other than being
the (UPN), party leader?

Attahiru Jega’s statement that the 181 APC
members who claimed to be election observers
were fake and never accredited by the
commission to monitor the election, said: “What
Aregbesola did was to test-run and perfect his
rigging plans towards next year election in Osun
Sate having declared to his APC members that
his second term ambition is a do-or-die affair

The Osun State Peoples Democratic Party
gubernatorial aspirant, Senator Iyiola Omisore,
has called on the Inspector General of Police and
the Independent National Electoral Commission
to monitor the activities of the Osun State
Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, whom he
alleged sponsored the 181 All Progressives
Congress members from Osun State that claimed
they were election observers but arrested in
Owerri, Imo State.
Omisore, while reacting to INEC Chairman, Prof.
Attahiru Jega’s statement that the 181 APC
members who claimed to be election observers
were fake and never accredited by the
commission to monitor the election, said: “What
Aregbesola did was to test-run and perfect his
rigging plans towards next year election in Osun
Sate having declared to his APC members that
his second term ambition is a do-or-die affair.”
The senator observed that many of the fake
observers from Osun State APC, who forged
accreditation documents to partake in the
Anambra State gubernatorial election, are
members of Aregbesola’s cabinet and wondered
why investigation is not being extended to the
sponsor and financier of the act to destabilize the
election in Anambra State.
He specifically referenced the leader of the fake
observers, Waheed Lawal, who is a Special
Adviser to Aregbesola on Civil society.
Lawal was allegedly arrested in 2011 for arsonist
attacks on the campaign office of Senator
Omisore and remains a wanted man, having
jumped bail on this crime.
He said that for such a crime suspect to become
an aide to a governor signposts the character of
the Osun State governor.
The senator said it is on record that Aregbesola
himself was standing trial for forgery of security
report before he earned immunity as a governor.
Omisore also alleged that the Osun State voters
register, just like they did in Anambra State, is
being doctored by Aregbesola in connivance with
the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Toyin
Akeju, who has been outed as an employee of
Aregbesola’s godfather, Senator Bola Tinubu.
He wondered why all protests by the state PDP
regarding the act have not been investigated by
INEC.
Omisore further called on the Attorney-General of
the Federation to ensure a diligent prosecution of
all electoral offenders in Anambra State election
so as to serve as deterrent to other APC
members in other states whose plans are to
invade Ekiti and Osun States under the guise of
election monitors to rig at next year’s elections.
He also asked security agents to thoroughly
probe the officials of the electoral body who
facilitated the procurement of sensitive materials
of INEC getting into the hands of Aregbesola’s
thugs parading themselves as observers.
He said: “Violation of electoral rules should be
treated as corruption and fraud and so must be
metted with adequate punishment to sanitise
electoral process and democracy in Nigeria.
“Nigerians must be given the power to chose
their leaders with their votes and it is the duty of
all politicians to restore value and virtues to our
politics.”
He asserted that the Tinubu-led Action Congress
of Nigeria, now turned APC, has been a serious
threat to democratic culture in Nigeria through
perversion of democratic institutions and
corruption of their personnel of such bodies.
He said: “We should not forget in a hurry how
this tendency put the judiciary into disrepute
through its illicit relationship with Justice (Ayo
Isa) Salami to pervert the cause of justice.
“In spite of the putative denials of both parties,
the whole world saw how Salami book launch
recently was an assembly of APC chieftains and
Naira rain by its governors.”
He concluded that bringing the full weight of the
law to bear on the Aregbesola 181 electoral
criminals caught in Imo State is a good place to
start cutting the dangerous tendency to size.

LONDON (AFP) – A man accused of hacking a soldier to
death on a London street told police he was a “soldier
of Allah” fighting a war against Britain but that the
killing brought him little joy, a court heard Wednesday.
Michael Adebolajo, who is on trial with Michael
Adebowale for the brutal murder of Lee Rigby near his
barracks in the south London district of Woolwich in
May, made the comments during interviews with police
after his arrest.

Adebolajo has been asked to be referred to as Mujaahid
Abu Hamza in court.
In recordings of the interviews shown to the jury at the
Old Bailey criminal court in London, 28-year-old
Adebolajo blamed his actions on “wicked” leaders such
as Prime Minister David Cameron and his predecessor
Tony Blair

Asked by detectives to describe the killing, during which
the two men allegedly hit Rigby with a car before
attacking him with knives, Adebolajo said the soldier’s
head was “almost detached and may Allah forgive me if
I acted in a way that is displeasing to him”.

In another interview, during which he had a blue blanket
over his head, Adebolajo said the killing was “for those
people who have not yet understood the nature, the
nature of the war that’s ongoing and has been ongoing
for some many years between the Muslims and the
British people”.

He went on: “Your leaders, you have leaders who rule
over you, unfortunately they rule over you in a very
wicked, corrupt, selfish and oppressive manner.”
Adebolajo said he was “particularly disgusted by David
Cameron, the Miliband brothers and what’s-his-name,
Nick Clegg”, referring to opposition Labour leader Ed
Miliband, his brother David, and Liberal Democrat
Deputy Prime Minister Clegg.

He also spoke of the “wickedness and corruption” of
Blair, who took Britain in to the US-led invasion of Iraq
in 2003. Cameron, he said, was “trying to emulate the
footsteps of Tony Blair as if he worships him”.
But he added that it brought him “little joy to approach
anybody and slay them”.
Rigby’s widow Rebecca left the court in tears as the
interviews were played.

A psychiatrist’s report read to the court earlier on
Wednesday found that Adebolajo showed “no regret or
remorse”.
Adebolajo and 22-year-old Adebowale both deny
murder.

The Federal High Court in Lagos today (Wednesday) ordered the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to pay a lawyer, Kameos Omosivwe, the sum of N200, 000 as damages for unlawfully impounding his vehicle.

Presiding Judge, Justice Okon Abang said the action of LASTMA in impounding Omosivwe’s vehicle and forcing him to pay illegal fines, is an assumption of judicial functions, and as such he declared it null and void.

The court also held that the lawyer was at liberty to seek leave of court, to commence contempt proceedings against one Adewumi Adeosun, an officer of LASTMA who was involved in the impoundment.

The lawyer had gone before the court to challenge the wrongful detention of his vehicle by LASTMA officials for several months.

He filed the suit on Feb. 15, seeking a declaration that the detention of his vehicle by LASTMA, was an affront on his right to fair hearing as enshrined in the constitution.

Omosivwe also sought a declaration that the imposition of a fine on his vehicle by the respondent, constitutes a violation of his freedom to own movable properties.

Justice Abang in his judgment, apart from awarding N200,000 against LASTMA, also awarded a cost of N20,000 for the action.

He further held that the action of the respondent was a gross misrepresentation of the law.

The court also noted that although the respondent had contended that the LASTMA Laws 2004, as enacted by the Lagos State House of Assembly, empowers its officers to carry out their duties, such laws cannot negate the principles of separation of power.

The judge further maintained that such laws cannot confer judicial powers on the respondent, since judicial powers of the constitution are only vested in a court of law.
