robosky02 my man, no need to watch this match, we re going nowhere, the girls played very badly against japan and i dont see us making any headway in this match. canada might whoop us, i say 'might' because they lost 5-0 to spain in their opening game, meaning they and Nigeria are the weeping babies in the group |

robosky02: U-20 Women’s W/Cup: Dedevbo Tips Falconets To Bounce Back
Falconets Coach, Peter Dedevbo, is confident that his girls will bounce back from their shambolic 6-0 defeat to Japan, to pick maximum points from the remaining two matches in the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Papua New Guinea, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Delta Queens gaffer charges the players to put behind them the horrific display in their first game and focus on the challenge Canada and Spain will offer.
"We are down but not out, and this is the time for us to fight till the end of the competition. It would be fool–hardy for us to start feeling sorry for ourselves because it will affect our focus for the remaining games in the tournament," Dedevbo states.
"I must acknowledge the fact that the Japanese side was good, even though I didn't envisage the goal margin. The outcome means that we will return to the trenches and re-strategize."
Meanwhile, Falconets defender, Glory Ogbonna, is confident that the the team will fight on and revive their FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup trophy hopes, as well as redeem Nigeria's image in Papua New Guinea.
"Collectively, as a team, we have accepted the fact that we started badly against Japan, but it doesn't mean that we have given up because all hope is not lost," she says.
"I believe that the reason for Sunday's defeat was a clarion call for us as a team to wake up to the harsh realities on ground. If we had won or drawn that game, apparently, the whole team would feel that we have arrived.
"Canada is a must-win for us and it is not negotiable. We have learnt our lessons in a bitter and humiliating way. I want to promise all Nigerians that we must redeem our image and march on in this tournament.”
Nigeria will face Canada in their second Group B match on Wednesday at the Bava Park Stadium in Port Moresby. Both countries are at the bottom of the table with no point.

TheSuperNerd: Why Ighalo & Ideye Didn’t Play Against Algeria – Gernot Rohr Explains
https://i1.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image-51.jpg?fit=1280%2C1124
Coach of the Nigeria team Gernot Rohr has revealed why regular forwards Odion Ighalo and Brown Ideye didn’t play in yesterday’s World Cup 2018 qualifiers which Nigeria won 3-1 against Algeria.
Ighalo led the line in the manager’s first game in charge while Ideye did same in Ighalo’s absence against Zambia, but the duo were left on the bench as Rohr opt to play Kelechi Iheanacho upfront.
”We have to approach games with different tactics and players. Iheanacho fits the way we wanted to play against Algeria, same way Ighalo and Ideye in our previous games” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.
”You also know that at a point in time all we needed to do was to manage the game as we not too comfortable at 2-1, with Algeria pushing to level and leaving space behind. Ahmed Musa was most needed at the time, and he proved us right judging by his performance.
”We had no need for either Ideye or Ighalo due to how the game went, but they are key players in the team. They are very talented and much needed”.

goldfish80: I think I should raise this point about FIFA and Caf goofing with the seedings of various teams km this world cup qualifiers across Europe and Africa.
First of all, Cape Verde were seeded in port 1 as a result of their fifa ranking which they ranked as first in Africa at the point of seeding. Somehow Cape Verde gamed the system and somehow they found themselves in the lofty position as the first in Africa. What Cape Verde have achieved over the past few year to warrant this seeding is what I don't understand.
As a result of this, more traditional African power houses found themselves in same group struggling to get the sole ticket. One of Nigeria/Algeria will miss out on the world cup. Either of Ghana/Egypt won't be in South Africa.
Two games down the road, these Cape verdians are rock bottom in their group with zero point.
In Europe, the story is the same with Wales and Romania seeded in Port 1.while traditional teams like France and Italy were in port 2
So many teams will miss this world cup, not because they aren't good enough but because the seedings by FIFA was crap and senseless. explain that sentence pls. what would they go to do in south Africa? |

safarigirl: Is anyone as concerned for Ghana right now as I am?
Na so Ghana no go go World Cup? I know it's Racist Russia, but come on!
We need to keep our mandatory 3 spots in the World Cup, only Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire are trying so far, if Ghana can't step up, Burkina Faso will have to edge out SA for that spot since Tunisia and Egypt are running their geoups.
West Africa must sha have our 3 World Cup reps u think burkina faso can beat SA away? recall SA held them in burkina faso's home-ground, though the group is still open with SA and B.Faso leading the group with 4 points each, i still feel SA might win that group |

TheGoodJoe: Mikel was not average. The team all had challenges. Not just Iheanacho or Iwobi. I pointed out to people where I watched the game that people are missing how good the Algerians are.
It was a tough contest and we came out on top. Like others, Mikel had tough times but grew into the game. Created some beautiful artwork with his combinative passes. Showed strenght and ball control while shielding the ball. He was no way near average. mikel played above average ystdy, mikel is masterclass. pure and simple. |

EdifiedCEO: Two decades ago Nigerian football achieved its most noteworthy success at international level by winning Olympic gold, with those who made it possible seen as the nation’s first golden generation.
A who’s who of Nigerian football, including the likes of Celestine Babayaro, Taribo West, Nwankwo Kanu, Jay-Jay Okocha, Daniel Amokachi and Sunday Oliseh were the now-legendary names gracing the pitch.
Just a few months ago the class of 2016 came very close to matching their predecessors. They may have ultimately won bronze and the Super Eagles will not be at the[s] upcoming African Cup of Nations – held in Morocco[/s] – but there is enough talents in their ranks to suggest a healthy future.
Here is a look at the west African country’s brightest talents.
1. Kenneth Omeruo Position: Defender Age: 23 Club: Alanyaspor International caps: 33 International goals: 0
2. William Troost-Ekong Position: Defender Age: 23 Club: FK Haugesund International caps: 8 International goals: 0
3. Ogenyi Onazi Position: Midfielder Age: 23 Club: Trabzonspor International caps: 42 International goals: 1

Ighalo. Please, do you know how many games Ighalo had before he lost his place? Was he not in camp before Rohr opted for Nacho? well thats true too, but u and i knew iheanacho and iwobi didnt come to the party ystdy, when iwobi was substituted for musa we saw the renewed bite upfront, in my opinion musa should have been brought in in the early minutes of the 2nd half, i would ve loved to see ighalo replace nacho too. |
