Whenever you see someone driving a well maintained car, I suggest you applaud him (not her.. girls don't always deal on car stuffs). Owning a car is one thing while maintaining a car is a different ball game altogether. When you have a car, you have another virtual family to bother about...the routine checks, alignment, wheel balancing etc. But for now, I want to talk about TIRES...yes, tires. Do you agree with me that tires are one important part of a car? It is the only part of the car that makes contact with the road (if somewhere else in your car makes contact with the ground, I suggest you meet your mechanic), so it should be regularly inspected. It is advisable to change your car tires whenever you notice they are no longer good for driving. I know you must have seen or heard about car tires bursting on highway; this is hazardous and may cost you something you may not like. It is advisable you change your car tires every 40,000 - 50, 000 miles. This tire of a thing is not cheap ooo, you can ask anyone that drives Range Rover. THINGS THAT CAN DAMAGE THE TIRES 1. Under-inflation: In this condition, the tires will not be placed correctly on the road. This causes excessive wear and loss of grip and may lead to sudden tire failure. This causes wears on both sides of the tire[img][/img] 2. Over-inflated: This will make the tire rapidly wear in the center of the thread. This will also reduce the smoothness of your ride. Note this: In some car manuals, it is advisable to increase the pressure in your tires when you want to transfer heavy loads. Even when you over inflate your tires for high loads, remember to reduce afterwards.[img][/img] 3. Misaligned wheels: As a result of wheel misalignment, the front tires may wear unevenly. This alignment could be done for a small fee. [img][/img] Always look for signs of damage, cuts, bulges and potential blowout. Ensure the tire is wearing off evenly. source:http://ogbunyamaemeka..com/2014/12/things-that-can-damage-your-tires.html

Car accident has never been a good thing. Virtually, everyone will go extra mile in order to avoid it at all cost. I thought it wise to share this piece of article in order to let you know what you should know in order to make a smooth ride. I hope it goes a long way. 1. Try and nurture the attitude of carrying out some routine checks most especially the first time you want to drive the car any day. Ensure you properly check the water level in the radiator, tire pressure, brake fluid level, the engine oil level- this is important to avoid the knocking of the car engine. All these will go a long way in curbing the potential risks it might put you when mishandled. 2. Before driving out, ensure that the warning lights on the dashboard are off such as the warning light for the airbag, engine oil, battery etc. 3. Try to avoid all forms of distraction that may cause you to lose concentration on your driving. These distractions may come from increasing the volume of your stereo to the level of sounds in a disco party. When behind the wheels, avoid making or receiving calls as well as text messaging but in case of an emergency, it is best you pull over and then continue driving whenever you are through. 4. Always fasten your seat belt before moving your car. Seat belts reduce the risk of death if an accident occurs by reducing the force of impact such as hitting the head on the dashboard when the car is stopped abruptly. It also ensures that the occupants are positioned correctly for the effectiveness of the airbag. 5. Drive at a speed you are sure you can control in case anything pops up. It is wiser to crawl like a snail of which you can easily control (you will reach your destination) than to drive at a breakneck speed that you wouldn't be able to control (you will either end up in a hospital or in a morgue). This is for the sake of saving your dear life, so the choice is yours to make. 6. Give enough distance when following a car. Avoid following a car bumper to bumper in order to avoid any form of bashing. When you follow a car with such a close gap, you won't be able to have a clear view of the road thereby limiting what you see (like deadly portholes and the likes). This can also prevent the issue of running into other people’s car when they abruptly stop. 7. Hoot before you overtake in order to let the driver you want to overtake know about your intent. Sometimes, a good driver you want to overtake will give you signals like: you shouldn't overtake now; the road ahead is bad; a car is coming etc. Also avoid overtaking on a bending especially sharp one. This has claimed many lives. 8. Avoid abrupt swerving when on high speed. Sometimes, you have to make up your mind to ride through a rough side of road than making a sharp swerve to the better side of the road. This can cause loss of balance which may lead to loss of control of the car. This particularly can cause a car to somersault. It is better you don’t dodge it and go to mechanic for your suspension repair than dodge it and be in a hospital for your body repair. 9. Don’t involve yourself in any form of dangerous games while driving, like “catch me if you can” with you friends or peers or whoever. This has taken the lives of many youths. Don’t be a victim 10. The last but not the least is to obey the traffic laws. I don’t think they are stupid in placing those rules. source: http://ogbunyamaemeka..com/2014/11/car-accident-prevention_18.html |
Nigeria is an oil producing country, but it is disheartening that the price of fuel is still sky high. We all have no say here than to buy it on any price they fix it. some of us may not be able to buy hybrid cars, of which have a very good fuel economy. I came with a good news today; you can as a driver economize the use of fuel in your car by making a very good use of every liter/gallon the car engine uses. Below are some tips you can adopt in order to conserve fuel and it also gives you a smoother ride. All these driving tips wont work if you don't properly maintain your car 1. ensure your car is serviced often which includes changing of your car engine oil. This will make the engine to run smoothly. 2. Ensure you have the right pressure on your tires. When you drive on low pressured tires, rolling resistance increases which in turn increases the car fuel consumption. Check your tire pressure on a regular basis. Also ensure the car wheels are correctly aligned. 3. Switch off you engine when in a traffic jam. please don't do this one if your car experiences hard-starting problem, else people behind you may lay several curses on you. When in a traffic on a steep road, rolling the car down can help. WARNING: When the engine is off, the steering and the brake get stiffer, so be careful. 4. For those driving automatic cars, ensure the gear fluid is up to level for a smooth transmission. 5. Remove unnecessary weights from the car. 6. Avoid sharp acceleration when you know you will bake in no few distance. 7.Ensure you make the best choices of gear when using a manual transmission. 8. Drive with your windows up and A/C on when on highway or speed above 45 MPH. This reduces drag on the car. Drive with windows down and A/C off when driving on : lower MPH; when driving early in the morning and at night (the atmosphere is cooler by these times of the day). 9. Always take the route that has lesser cars plying on it. Take the route that is more free of cars even if it is longer, believe me, it will save your fuel. source: http:///kytva92 |
